Concerned Ape, it utterly blows my mind that you made Stardew Valley from scratch. The sprites, the code, the music, and it's wonderful story. Your efforts and your success have inspired me to keep working on projects of my own. It truly is a Big World Outside and I plan to seize it every day until my project is complete.
And the developer made this game alone, he made the music, designed the graphics, wrote a story to the game and made every. Single. Character. A very deep personality and story. If this is possible by a single person, then you can get over your obstacles in your life
my game got bugged when I had to collect more than $400.000 that amount of money appeared me after going to sleep but then when I woke up I didn't earn anything
This hits different on the first day of year 2. You havent heard this song for 3 seasons, and right at the end of your first year, you hear this familiar tune. Signifying the start of something new, but familiar at the same time. The last time you heard this song, you were unsure of what you were doing, trying to make the best of this new life you've been given. Planting a few crops, selling what you can to make ends meet, meeting the locals for the first time, exploring your new home. But in year 2, you likely have a bustling farm established, you've made some friends, maybe even a love interest. You're finally fully established in the community, and can comfortably call it home. And hearing this song again, especially after the cold, quiet winter, and reminding you of where you began is enough to make a grown man cry.
im nearing the end of year 2 + me and abigail r about to get married so that still rings true for me. it's kinda crazy how in year 1's spring i was just stumbling around, clueless as to what i was doing but in year 3's spring i will have a wife and a quickly growing farm 😭 like damn
I don't know why, but this song helps me so much when I'm stressed. Just the title "It's a big world outside" and the actual song after reading that, made me go outside at 2am, walk to the highest point in my town and just look over all the people, all the cars riding on the highway... Just aaaaaah this song has made me feel so happy.
I love love love how this song just trails off in an echo at the end of the song. It’s so ethereal and when I hear it in the game it grabs my attention and it feels like I’m centered or something.
Keldoe me irl lmao anyways browsing the comment section of this video always makes me want to spread happiness so I hope you are having a great day/night stranger :D
The final 40 seconds always gives me mad goosebumps. Made me think of the end of a super fun day of summer vacation as a child, and looking at the sunset from the roof of my childhood home, in Portland, Oregon, U.S.A.(Which makes sense given creator of Stardew Valley only lives a few hours away in Tacoma, Washington) in fact it triggers that memory almost every time I heard it in the game.
Such calming music! I’m dealing with a brand new job - my first official job, with bosses that barely gave me an introduction to what I’m supposed to do and call me in at 6 the night before and ask me to work a full day, and it’s extremely overwhelming sensory wise (extremely humid and painfully loud) and I’m autistic so I had both a meltdown and a panic attack my first day which no one noticed but now I’m nervous to go back. First day was hell and my next shift is in ten minutes. This music is very very peaceful.
Basil Storm I know it’s probably a bit late for this, but the first day is always the hardest. Once you get into the wing of things, it’ll become second nature.
Basil Storm How are you getting on now? I have Asperger's and I would be pretty stressed by those conditions and circumstances. I hope you have found ways to adapt :)
Orangeapplekiwi for some reason I never got notifications on this comment, just saw this tonight! I ended up leaving and found a job at a family run petstore near my house, is a much better fit and I’m very happy there!
Because it's a sweet song and maybe it brings back nostalgia? For me nostalgia makes me happy but for some reason every time it happens I smile lol I'm just weird!
It makes such a big impression at the start of the game, and then when you hear it again after the whole year has passed it just makes you nostalgic somehow.
Wow, ConcernedApe Did an awesome job on this game, not only did he create an insanely fun and addicting game, but he also made a huge and effective stress reliever. It was published by Chucklefish, not sure if you knew this, but Chucklefish made a game called Starbound, and that game is just as relaxing and fun as Stardew.
Something I love about Stardew Valley is that even during winter there is so much to do, most other farming games just dont have that much to do during winter (If you can even call this a farming game) Its just great
I bought Stardew Valley literally yesterday to try it out and I absolutely LOVE it- it's everything somebody can ask for in a farming game. Every time I hear this tune I immediately calm down and smile, it's really relaxing to play this game at the end of an exhaustive work day. I absolutely love this theme, I wish I could play it endlessly in the game
I got Stardew Valley in my recommended after many years, and it reminded me of this song, came back to listen this. I don't understand why, but I started tearing up. Nostalgia hit too hard I guess 😅
The day I picked up the game I thought I was just a plain old farming sim, I had done no research about it, playing 200 hours and getting to year 6 without any help. This game is a masterpiece, so many little hidden things and amazing music. This game has it all. What a truly amazing masterpiece Concerned ape. Thankyou for letting me spend hundreds of hours of fun on this amazing title
Playing Animal Crossing while it's March again, and hearing this song as the grass progressively gets greener as each day passes by, it's beautiful. This game's soundtrack is amazing!

This song is so beautiful. I love everything about it. The title reminds me just how beautiful and big our world is. Somewhere out there is a town just like Pelican Town. The song itself reminds me how much there is to see and how I can go see it for myself. It makes me want to take a walk in a thick forest and count the butterflies.
I just got this game yesterday, and I don’t think I’ve ever fallen in love with a game this fast. Even with the strict timers of the day, it never feels like I’m rushed to complete something. The atmosphere is perfect.
At the end of the song it always reminds me of the first time I played it in distant 2019, I still remember that confusion of the valley and its surroundings
Funny story... I've actually had this game kicking around on my phone for the better part of a year, but never actually got around to playing it until a few weeks ago... Now I'm kicking myself for not playing this sooner!
Am I tho only weirdo that cries from how happy this song makes me? It’s weird but this song does it to me every time. Love it. Favorite music in a game ever.
