No one want anyone to forget anything. They all have moved on with a fresh set of owners who are involved in a fresh set of controversies. They only care about printing money.

I understand “its not our job” arguement. Sometimes i wish that we could just ignore whatever else is going on for a weekend and enjoy some good races in peace, with peace of mind. Racing should come first in F1. Then the rest follows suit
In regards to Imola 1994, per Italian law if anyone dies at a sporting event, the event is to be cancelled so the police can investigate. Formula 1 arranged for Ratzenberger to be declared dead at the hospital (in spite of having died at Imola itself-basilar skull fracture usually results in instant death) so the race could occur as normal.
@@matmica2702 It is a case of the FIA engaging in dishonest and likely at least borderline criminal behavior (because if they didn’t the teams and track would have lost a huge amount of money), and a legend of the sport dying as a result.
Formula 1 never cared about racing in countries where human rights aren‘t known and huge wars are going on. They race in almost every country in the middle east, they race in China, Azerbaijan and the list goes on. Somehow russia is the only country, where it isn‘t tolerated. I‘d love to see a race there in june with all the cars covered in pride flags…
Is that really a big deal? Do you want people to be allowed to criticize the government? What about in Canada, Australia, and England where people have been arrested for calling a man a man? Every Western country punished people for ignoring covid lockdowns that nobody got to vote on. Every Western country forced certain people to not work because the governments deemed their jobs unimportant. Nobody got to vote on that. In the US a surfer was arrested for surfing alone in the ocean during covid. In England, cops punched an autistic 13-year-old for not wearing a mask in a supermarket. Australia kidnapped people and forced them to quarantine for 2 weeks even if they tested negative for covid multiple days in a row.
@@isaacs4050 "where people have been arrested for calling a man a man" - Yes, prisons are full of people who did that... Not ever remotely comparable to what happens in some Middle East countries where yes, you have to comply with a some Islamic rules that go against basic human rights.
@@soundscape26 Yeah some middle eastern countries are absolutely awful. Don't think F1 has ever considered racing in Iran or Syria. What are basic human rights in your eyes? and what are some islamic rules in countries F1 races in that go against those basic human rights?
Oh please, dont be naive. F1 always used to be about money, politics and power. Probably the only time F1 was the way you said was the 50's and early 60's. Maybe nowadays is more obvious and nuanced, but money was a driven factor in the sport since the 70's.
I would have had much more respect for F1 if they had just said "Look, cancelling would have cost $40m worth heavy implications for our sport. We're not politicians or activists, only a business, and this is a business decision" But what really frustrates me is cancelling Russia, yet having three races in the country which destroyed millions of lives in Iraq, Syria, Libya, Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia, Vietnam, Grenada, Panama...need I go on? Either be apolotical or don't. But don't favour one criminal regime over another.
Agreed. It's not offensive, it's just closer to reality than every other excuse they have thrown. Do they really think those answers save face in any way with average intelligence people? Come on.
If there's one phrase that gets on my nerves it's "Keep politics out of sport/art/music" Politics permeates all aspects of life whether we want it to or not, ignoring it is just turning a medium into the sand to bury our heads in
When politics is doing nothing more than dividing people, we should keep it out of sports and art. For me sports and music etc. unite through passion, you and I may support different teams, or listen to different music, but we are one in the sense that we love this sport and music etc. You're not a hero for virtue signaling and cancelling people on social media. What that does is just increase toxicity, hate, and division. I'm Lebanese and the Israel-Palestine bullshit is happening right next to me, but I try to tune it out and live my life, that is just one example of how politics can in fact be easily avoided. But on the subject you on the west are hypocrites because you would talk shit about any Arab country but ignore Israel.
It depends on how you implement the politics into sports/art. I think it's ok to protest f1 racing in dictatorships and countries with human rights issues, because those races will generate wealth to the pockets of those authoritarian governments and that's not cool. However, I think sticking your own political stance into the sport constantly, the kneeing things for example, is a bit unnecessary. If you wanna spread a political message, fine, just do it outside of f1. It's the same thing in music for me. I can't stand Bono doing his political rants in the middle of U2 shows because it takes the focus out of what is the most important thing, the music. Same thing with Eddie Vedder's anti-war speech randomly in the middle of a Pearl Jam concert, cringe af. But if I am watching Muse show I'm not thinking "Oh my god this is crap because they have many political subjects in their songs!" because they don't ramble on about politics otherwise and they still keep the focus on music.
@@hishamhilal8332Lucky you being able to tune out politics. I bet all the women and children in Gaza would love to do the same but y’know they just had to be all political and shit.
