In regards to Ayrton Senna / Hey everyone, I’ve seen a lot of comments asking why Senna wasn’t included in the video. Reason is because I’ve made a full video on the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix weekend which you can check out on my channel. I also kept this list small because I’d like these videos to become an ongoing series. Thanks for watching ❤️
If there was one particular moment that shook me throughout my time growing up watching F1, it would have had to have been Massa's spring accident in 2009. Being 9 years old at the time, I had never seen such a severe accident caused by a driver being hit by some debris flying across the track and wouldn't have thought it could be possible, being so young. Massa was also one of my favourite drivers as well, which is probably why it shook me quite a lot, but seeing photos of his injuries & learning that he fractured his skull from a spring from the back of one of the cars was definitely shocking to me. Btw, that photo of Massa's injury with his helmet on straight after his accident still shocks me to this day.
2020 was a testament to safety both in nascar and F1. Both the Ryan Newman and Romain Grosjean crashes, when I saw them live, my first thought to each was “oh my god, he’s dead” because both seemed so impossible to believe that it would happen and that a driver would survive either wreck of such magnitude. It truly shows how much each sport has come from their respective dark days
That halo has improved safety a lot, it's a real pity it wasn't there when jules bianchi crashed into the tractor in 2014 japanese gp, that probably would've saved his life.
@@LeonardoAld it's just extraordinary how since the halo was put into use we have seen so many times where the halo protected the driver's head, but before we did not see instances where the driver's head has been in danger besides the bianchi accident.
@@henrywilliams4170 maybe it's because there where some incidents, but we only started to take notice when something as controversial as the halo was introduced
@@henrywilliams4170 unfortunately for Jules, the halo wouldn’t have saved him from that accident. It wasn’t the direct impact with the tractor that injured him, but the insane forces of the sudden deceleration
Watching Grosjean’s crash live was traumatizing. Idc if anyone thinks that’s dramatic, I thought I watched someone die live on tv. My first thoughts went straight to Marion and their kids. I still get anxious on lap 1, every race, to this day. I’m so glad he is still with us, but damn I really thought I watched someone die in real time.
I thought he definitely died watching it live, like that is probably the most horrific looking crash you can get in f1. Lap 1 of Belgium gp is probably the anxious lap of the calendar, with the historically dangerous eau rouge corner. That corner is just so dangerous when somebody loses control, they've made it safer but it's still quite dangerous.
Mate I watched it live, I genuinely thought we were seeing someone die. It was absolutely traumatising, I thought we were witnessing a tragic piece of history.
Yeah, I think that's dramatic. Tho I'm assuming most other women in first world countries would feel the same so don't let that reaction make you feel weird. You're just responding in accordance to your experience and your surroundings. Since I was raised in a country where murder is an everyday thing and as a young adult I had already seen videos of hard gore executions, watching the Grosjean crash wasn't anywhere near traumatic.
As a kid in America before the Internet, it was hard to keep up with news about Formula One. I'll never forget when I heard about the news of Gilles in my high school hallway. It was every bit as shocking as hearing that Reagan getting shot.
Most shocking F1 related moment I ever heard off was death of Jo Schlesser. He was driving for Honda in late 1960s and was chosen by them to test their new car made mostly of magnesium. His car caught on fire after he crashed and he literally burned to death. I can't imagine worse way for driver to go.
The writing was on the wall for that one. F1 World Champion John Surtees refused to drive this car saying it was a "potential death trap". Schlesser got into the car, the race started, and on lap 2 of 60, Schlesser was burned alive thanks to the highly inflammable magnesium body.
Gilles Villeneuve is among the greatest racing drivers ever. Scheckter admitted that Gilles was much faster than him. Lauda was shocked at how quick he was. Everyone that raced against him knew that he was fierce. Many drivers died at Ferrari before, but Gilles' death was the one that put an end to Enzo Ferrari's motivation, and many believe that he lost the will to keep competing after this.
romain’s crash is etched so deep into my memory - and this is because i was actually in the shower at the time. my parents were watching it on the TV, i heard them scream. i practically jumped out of the shower. they were exclaiming about “fire” and “there’s no way he survived that”, then he somehow got out. it was a miracle
It was especially crazy for me because Bahrain 2020 was my first ever race. Yes. One of my friends got me into the sport. I wasn't expecting much to happen. Unlike all of you fans being shook, I had legit no clue and still hadn't had a full grasp on the sport. I was very confused, but happy to see him get out. Now, I'm a hardcore fan, looking back on this in a different perspective.
Man the shiver that went down my spine when I saw the fireball at the start of Bahrain. The feeling of uneasiness felt so similar to how I felt watching the crash of Hubert and Correa on live tv. You just sit there and wonder “did I watch another man die?” It’s a horrible feeling.
Great video! I think you made an excellent selection for the first video with Grosjean being recent, Schumacher being well known and also somewhat relevant through Micks presence and Villeneuve being a legend.
I guess the only official update about Schumacher that we will ever get is when they have to announce his death. I still remember when the news were broadcast about the ski accident. My first thoughts were something like "well how bad can it be, he'll be fine, they are overdramatizing it in the news" but then more and more news came about how severe his condition actually is.
The impact of Michael's accident was shocking my dad who idolises michael cried upon hearing his condition on the news. I was only 8 years old at the time and that was the first time i had seen my dad cry.
The kind of thing that once you get the news, you'll never forget that moment. I was born two years after Senna's death, but basically everyone old enough remember very well what they were doing on that sunday morning (I'm from Brazil) and for me, even though it's not on the same level, I won't ever forget what I was doing or where I was when the news about Schumacher, Grosjean or Bianchi arrived or how I got them. I missed the start of that Bahrain GP but a friend of mine was watching and sent a message "something bad happened, some serious crash... I don't know who it was but seems to be serious" and then I got the broadcast right during the rescue of Grosjean. Some moments, for the better or the worse can get that kind of effect on us
you grow up watching replays of drivers or marshals gettin hurt killed in F1. Gilles being flung out of his car in Belgium, Senna going into the wall at Imola and Massa getting hit with a spring in Hungary. But watching Grosjeans crash live was something that still lingers so different since i for once didnt know the outcome beforehand, sitting there in silence with my dad waiting for just about anything about his condition despite that i already accepted he was gone. Weird feeling
Great video, I definitely am on the side of respecting the privacy of the Schumacher family, It is something that I feel deeply in my heart, I really really hope that he is happy and is able to enjoy time with his family, I hope they know that many people around the world with them nothing but goodness, And that many of us are respectful of their wishes. Schumacher made me an F1 fan, Along with other legends of the time like Mika Hakkinen and Fernando Alonso.

Villeneuve and Pironi going at in Imola in 1982 was a great race to watch
Gilles was super pissed because Didier didn’t listen to the team instructions and attacked Gilles anyways. They say it is the reason why he was so highly strung during quali in Zolder (the next race) and eventually had that accident with Jochen Mass. They made a documentary on the whole Villeneuve-Pironi fight.
A moment not mentioned because it's been covered countless times is Imola 1994. It's a moment that Formula 1 still hasn't recovered from, something that shouldn't have ever happened to begin with. When introducing someone to Formula 1, it's difficult to explain how the fastest F1 driver, a 3x champion of the sport, was killed in the same cars that made him a legend. People did not care for safety until they got exactly what they wanted: 2 people getting slaughtered in the same weekend. Every major crash, every time a champion gets into a big accident, the repressed memories of that 1 race are brought up. It shakes F1 to the core until this very day, and it will continue to do so as long as the name "Senna" is said.
Actually, the explanation fof this tragedy can be explained pretty easily: the previous year's f1 cars were more sophisticated technologically than ever before with active suspension, ABS and a lot of driver aids but FIA decided to ban them all for 1994. The result: drivers who had gotten used to the super advanced cars saw themselves making huge errors and having massive and dangerous crashes because the cars were so much more difficult to drive. The scariest thing is that we are lucky that only two drivers died in the 1994 season as there were multiple drivers that year who were very close to losing their lives in a crash. So yeah, FIA managed to fuck things up once again.
Oddly I had no fear for Zhou, I just knew he'd be fine, I get it was a big one. But the grosjean one was so much more terrifying. Probably because of the fire.
So glad that Grosjean survived that. What a testament to the (eventual) safety of F1, a sport in which it seems like drivers used to die on a regular basis. I never saw Villeneuve's crash until just now. Wow. Such a shame for an accident like that to happen.
Gilles ❤😢 🇨🇦 I’m a Quebecer/French-Canadian like Gilles. I was born in 1984 so never saw him race, but my dad, who gave me his passion for F1, told me a lot of stories about him. I read and watched everything I could about him. I am also (still) a big fan of his son Jacques. It is so unfair that he was taken away so young. He would have probably eventually won a WC, then witness is son win one and he would now be in his early 70’s enjoying life with his grand children. Heartbreaking 💔
Myeah I was watching that race live and the moment I saw those flames from Romain's car I instantly thought "Yeah he's dead". F1 safety is pretty damn remarkable
I was thinking the same when I saw Zhou’s crash in Silverstone last year. I then showed the footage to my husband and also friends who don’t watch F1 and they were all like omg he died didn’t he? And I was like nope, he isn’t even injured.
The moment that shook me was Jules Bianchi's death. When I first heard about it, I thought motorsport was one of the safest sports ever and no one would get hurt like that. When I learned about the severity of it, though, I fully understood what had happened. The halo would have saved his life. RIP JB17, we miss you.
When i watched the race with my dad, i was focused on norris who went off the track until in the corner of my eye I see a 2 cars sliding off the track and then flames, I was shocked and so was my dad, I didn't eant to witness another fatal crash the first and only fatal crash i saw was jules Bianchis crash in 2014 i was only 4 and i was fine bc ive never seen a fatal crash before, im 12 now and i was 9 when i saw this crash and it still scares me...
Romain "The Phoenix" Grosjean as stated in his official website. My web nickname is from the beginnings of the Internet (I used since the mIRC times back in 94), but never a fitting use of Phoenix was done as in this case. He was extremely lucky, had this accident happen just an decade before and we would talk about him in the past. F1 safety really had come a long way.
The crash by Romain Grosjeans took forever in my memory, basically the time they stretched it out in Drive to Survive. In reality it was all pretty quick and I remember seeing him get out of the flames was maybe the bigest reliefs ever. After it al it took me a while to get my head back on and feel normal again. It was a weird few hours. That all said, the F2 crash by Anthoine Hubert was a shocking one as well. I mean you didn't see anything, they quickly get switched away, but having no images of the driver getting out after so long makes that feeling creap up even more then you already had, that this might be one without a happy end.
Watching Roman's crash live scared the shit out of me. My first reaction was "oh fuck, no no, you don't walk away from that. As another side not I feel like the crashes of Jules Bianchi, ayrton senna and Niki lauda all need to be included.
Watching the ghostly shadow of Romaine Grosjean emerge from the flames was one of the most blessed memories I will ever have. I was sure I just watched him die. The time he was in the flames was insane. I watched Gilles die live on tv. I saw the blur go across the screen. I asked my dad, "What was that!" Then we found out the awful news. The Golden Warrior of Formula One had passed. But the saddest moment for me here is no doubt, the awful way Michael Schumacher had his health taken away from him. Because that could happen to any of us. Please wear your helmets and take care of that precious brain you have. Michael was wearing his and for some reason, the impact still injured him severely. All of those years going over 200 mph. Of fighting for repeated victories. Michael retires and then this happens. The Schumacher family owes me nothing as a fan. Just take care of Michael like I know you are. God please be with all of you. Micheal, we miss seeing that great big grin on the sidelines in the pits. Rest Up and Get Well, Great Warrior.
Romain may have not gotten a literal F1 win, but this incident, where he came out alive, was the biggest win of his life. its a wonder he escaped those damn flames
I almost watched f1 in 2020 but i didn't, around that time i would mostly watch f1 stories from a Brazilian F1 Channel, "Projeto Motor". I started watching in the 2021 season, i didn't thought too much of the danger in lap 1 until i saw the copse crash of Max in the British GP, i was cheering for max that year and my heart just dropped, seing the RB16B fly straight towards the wall, i almost felt the instant stop of the car, on the other side of the world, i never got such an giant anxiety attack like that day. Till this day i get anxious in the first lap of every grand prix, even in the games.
but he is talking about what shocked f1, think of nikki lauda, Ayrton Senna, the last was so shocking, also because of a restart, we saw him die live on tv. it took me about 5 years to want to watch f1 again.. in the '70 '80 en '90's much more deadly raceaccidents... and no streaming, no extra costs, so all of Europe watched so many horrible accidents.
Grosjean's crash was terrifying. As soon as it happened I ran to my girlfriend to show her what had just happened and to help me calm down. I was genuinely a bit shook from it.
He's trying too hard for that number imo. Make great content & they will come effortlessly. Also, it takes most TH-camrs 6 or 7 years to get 100k subs. Also something to think about.
@@soundscape26 But in the context of this topic, no one's death impacted F1 MORE than Senna. His death changed EVERYTHING in the sport in regards to safety & dangerous corners & tracks & procedures. Absolutely EVERYTHING!
@@MadeByPerspective Yeah, but not in this context. Senna's death shook F1 like no one else in the history of the sport & it also completely changed F1 as we know it today. Everything in the sport changed because of his death. Track barriers & fencing, dangerous corners, car design & cockpit changes, safety measures & protocols, and even how races were run. It is the #1 moment that shook F1, bar none. No disrespect to Gilles or Jules and the others who've passed away on track, their lives were also extremely precious. But Senna was at the pinnacle of the sport. The driver everyone feared & respected on track. No one else drove like him back then. Much like Max today.
As a fan who got into the sport during the 2020 Covid season, due to Drive to Survive & lots of free time, I still remember audibly yelling "OH MY GOD!" when Grosjean hit the fence. Within a second, you knew that it was really really bad. The miracle of Grosjean climbing from the inferno is an image ingrained forever in Formula 1's history.
I think as fans we need to accept that we will likely never see Schumacher in public again. However it would be nice if every year we could get an update on how he’s doing
okay im 38 years old that crash did nothing to me as i saw senna crash i can remember the crash the day befor that killed roland ratzenbenger the cars so now so safe and they were so much safety its hard for me now to watch as i no there not dying the last crash i saw and went oh wow thats bad was jules bianchi thats was a bad crash as his head lifted a jcb

My most shocking by far as well. Think you can't make this video not including this. The hole F1 changed since that day
Champ just has his Ferrari glasses superglued on. 🙄
If Senna didn't die, there's no way that Michael Schumacher is a 7-time champ. Not a chance.
Seeing JB17 crash was just horrific
The crash by Romain Grosjeans took forever in my memory, basically the time they stretched it out in Drive to Survive. In reality it was all pretty quick and I remember seeing him get out of the flames was maybe the bigest reliefs ever. After it al it took me a while to get my head back on and feel normal again. It was a weird few hours.
That all said, the F2 crash by Anthoine Hubert was a shocking one as well. I mean you didn't see anything, they quickly get switched away, but having no images of the driver getting out after so long makes that feeling creap up even more then you already had, that this might be one without a happy end.
tbh im really surprised you didnt mention senna
We will NEVER see Michael ever again
Watching Roman's crash live scared the shit out of me. My first reaction was "oh fuck, no no, you don't walk away from that. As another side not I feel like the crashes of Jules Bianchi, ayrton senna and Niki lauda all need to be included.
Will there be a part 2?
Michael was my hero and i still cant believe that something like this happened to him
Watching the ghostly shadow of Romaine Grosjean emerge from the flames was one of the most blessed memories I will ever have.
Till this day i get anxious in the first lap of every grand prix, even in the games.
out of these 3 moments I am glad that Romain got out of it relatively unharmed
man's putting in the grind for 100k🫡🫡
Going for it!
@@MadeByPerspective go get it brotha, you deserve it
@@MadeByPerspective It's just a matter of time... you can prepare your celebration hat already.
but he is talking about what shocked f1, think of nikki lauda, Ayrton Senna, the last was so shocking, also because of a restart, we saw him die live on tv. it took me about 5 years to want to watch f1 again.. in the '70 '80 en '90's much more deadly raceaccidents... and no streaming, no extra costs, so all of Europe watched so many horrible accidents.
Grosjean's crash was terrifying. As soon as it happened I ran to my girlfriend to show her what had just happened and to help me calm down. I was genuinely a bit shook from it.
F1 would be better if Michael and all other Heroes were still around… :(
Yeah, I miss Michael Andretti. Good lad. Hope he makes it back with his own team.
Really curious about Schumacher but I need to respect their privacy
I respect the video, but how did you not include the passing of Ayrton Senna and Ratzenberger, that nightmare weekend at Imola?
Two deaths, one near-miss for Barrichello, and the impact of this weekend on the sport and its safety measures; needs its own video.
Get Pers to 100k subs for god's sake!
He's trying too hard for that number imo. Make great content & they will come effortlessly. Also, it takes most TH-camrs 6 or 7 years to get 100k subs. Also something to think about.
Surprised you didn't include a Senna Section
He made a whole video on Senna.
@@soundscape26 But in the context of this topic, no one's death impacted F1 MORE than Senna. His death changed EVERYTHING in the sport in regards to safety & dangerous corners & tracks & procedures. Absolutely EVERYTHING!
Maybe you could've included Jules Bianchi's story instead of Schumi's to keep it a bit more thematically consistent but still nice video.
I do agree with this list but how as Senna not made it onto it
Just wishing Schumacher recovers.
He won't. He's pretty much a vegetable.
Grosjean’s crash was horrible to watch….
Where jb17?, Ah19, S...
❤❤❤❤❤
What about Senna?
Senna??
He made a whole video on Senna already.
Done a video on Ayrton before 🙂
@@MadeByPerspective Yeah, but not in this context.
Ummm, no Ayrton Senna?! Arguably the greatest driver of all time. Guess he wasn't a Ferrari driver, so he didn't get a mention.
I have a 12 minute video dedicated to Senna and the weekend at Imola in 1994..
Gotta stop with the weird music, this is not a true crimes podcast, is it?.. Feels illplaced in my opinion
Lol do more funny videos like this one. 😂
A bit late for this lol..
I think as fans we need to accept that we will likely never see Schumacher in public again. However it would be nice if every year we could get an update on how he’s doing
If only Michael had gone skydiving

okay im 38 years old that crash did nothing to me as i saw senna crash i can remember the crash the day befor that killed roland ratzenbenger the cars so now so safe and they were so much safety its hard for me now to watch as i no there not dying the last crash i saw and went oh wow thats bad was jules bianchi thats was a bad crash as his head lifted a jcb
So because people are safer whilst racing you don't watch... It literally takes someone dying to peak your interest as you said only Bianchi's crash interested you... What a stupid take
Punctuation and grammar took a day off there.
@@soundscape26 hey ! They're entitled to vacation and personal time too!
Senna?
