I was actually forgetting that Andromeda was still alive when Tonks died...
One sister went insane, one lost her husband, daughter and son-in-law, another turned her back on her Master, her husband and her sister to show how deeply a mother's love runs. This pain is a kind that just shouldn't exist, in neither the world of reality nor that of fantasy.
Well, yes. Her husband is Rodolphus Lestrange who for some reason does not appear in the films. :( He's one of Voldemort's closest supporters in the books. Bellatrix only married him because he was from an old pure-blooded family though. She doesn't love him - her only real passion (obsession rather) is for Voldemort. But of course Rodolphus was obsessed with him too. Maybe their relationship was too complicated to get into on screen but I would still have liked to see him at least mentioned.

Actually, Jo' said that Bella could love. But her love was perverse and twisted. Bellatrix, as you said, probably didn't marry for love but for status. As for her love towards family, I think it was there. But her love for Voldemort and his campaign was evidently stronger. As for Narcissa and Lucius, I think they loved as any married couple would. I think their personalities pieced together like a puzzle. They both obviously lavished in the thought of being rich.
Can anybody imagine Bellatrix if she grew up in a different family?
lilathesinger Not really. Sirius and Andromeda grew up in the same family, and they didn't turn out to be like her. And even Narcissa and Regulus realized their mistake at some point. But Bellatrix lived and died devoted to Voldemort. I love her, but no, her schizophrenic evilness was not a result of her family.
Etain82 I would say it would, in a way. Some people react differently to situations, for better or for worse, yes - that's not to say that Bellatrix couldn't have turned out quite different if she'd been raised in another family.
I love this video...the Black sister's and the history of their family and the intertwined members in the story...and the awful end to which most of the members befall in the story is probably one of the saddest parts to me of the Potter's verse (it's even worse if you include their cousin's Regalus and Sirius and Tonks all dying). This video is amazingly made and nearly had me in tears.

+Aryell Sofia Nah, people with Black blood are still around. The family is only "extinct" because of patriarchy... I mean Narcissa is very much alive, and she's as much a Black as Sirius and Regulus were :)
It was really awesome at Narcissa's wedding, it really seemed like Lucius and Narcissa were right next to each other even though they were in two seperate movies.

I love how you used Helena for both Bellatrix and Andromeda, because of the bit in the book where Harry sees how alike the sisters are in looks!

Totally broke down when I saw Helena as Andy crying after seeing Nymphadora. I love all the Black sisters and this was done beautifully. I think you chose well for their younger selves. It fit really well. This has become a favorite vid of mine!

This video is amazing! It was a little confusing at first since Helena Bonham Carter is playing both Bellatrix and Andromeda, but once you figure out which is which the effect is really beautiful.

Rewatching this over and over... and my heart just bleeds for Andromeda who first had to watch her sisters get lost under the influence of Voldemort - taring their family apart - and later lost both her husband and her daughter...

What did you smoke? Andromeda, like every Black we know off, was Slytherin. The only known exception was Sirius, and he was, of course, Gryffindor.
