Does the Tasmanian Tiger (Thylacine) still exist at the Spero River Tasmania?

  • Our biggest adventure of the year takes us 9 days searching for the Tasmanian tiger (Thylacine) we head off track along the spero river and into Tasmania's remote south west coastline. Pack a raft, 9 days food supplies and a mask and snorkel this is going to an awesome journey and wilderness adventure.
The Tasmanian tiger was renowned by piners (huon piners) along the foreshore and banks of the spero river, often times the piners were aware of the Thylacines tracks left all along the coastline and banks of the river.
Rob Parsons has been studying old reports of the piners and they're stories of the tiger are very clear and have us wondering today. Could the Tasmanian tiger still be alive in this remote region of Tasmania.

I watched Rob's and your video(s). I had an absolutely awesome time watching them.
What struck me most was your ability to be stuck in the middle of nowhere with a mate and not get to fistacuffs.
I don't know too many fellas here in Florida that can go fishing for 4 hours without getting bitchy.
9 days was a testament to your character.
Regarding the tiger, I don't want to believe it is gone. Certainly you showed us an amazing swath of habitat where it COULD survive, so very few people spend much time in there and I would suspect that if they WERE there they saw you two coming a mile away.
Until someone can dedicate themselves to spending MONTHS in this habitat and finding one spot to set up camp and deploying many trail cams and being able to sit in one place for long periods with infrared scopes then any contact with a surviving tiger is going to be a spare chance, no different than those who see one crossing the road in front of the car.
Thank you guys, both of you for showing us this AMAZING place, I certainly never imagined so much virtually untouched space in Tasmania, all we hear here is that there are no wild places left in Tasmania.
Perhaps the tiger shouldn't be rediscovered and if it's there it's best to leave it alone.
But that said, gee whiz, can you imagine running face to face with one?

Levi and Rob that was the best adventure I’ve ever seen on TH-cam it was riveting from start to finish thanks for sharing this trip of a lifetime with us I am sure one day you will find the evidence you’re looking for there is something mystical about the Tasmanian Tiger 🐅 it’s such a beautiful creature man has a lot to answer for the way in which this animal was persecuted.Again I would like to wish you all the success that comes your way from your wonderful channel all the best from a very appreciative fan here in Glasgow Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 ❤

Hi Levi and Rob, I am 100% certain that I have seen a thylacine. However it was in the most unlikeliest of places, Rosevers, crossing the west Tamar HWY at night. Only had about three stripes, on its rump and did a humpy style cant , similar to a possum.

Hey Guys, I remember as a child, I heard at that time about the taz-tiger. It was endangered at that time. Not to be confused with the Taz-Devil. (Smaller animal). It's so very sad that we let any living creature totally die off! But...that's exactly what we are.."Sad People", for letting it happen! People are a piece of work, Animals are a piece of cake! The Tassie Tiger is out there. But as you both recounted, the old timers all saw their track but very rarely saw them, if at all. You both live in some of the last wilderness left on the planet, why cannot they still be there. Thank you.

Levi I'm so bloody happy that Rob and yourself are in search of the Thylacine which I believe still exists, up here in southern Cape York Far North Queensland in our traditional country is a rock painting of which I believe is a Thylacine as it was drawn with stripes drawn from the centre of the back down over the loins with a stiff looking tail. I'll be glued throughout this expedition, please never give up!!
