I just got accepted into my LPN program and pediatrics has always been my first interest. It sounds so rewarding! Only thing I’m really nervous about is upset parents and tears after shots 😭😭😭😂
Hey Niaa! That’s exciting! Yes, working with peds is very rewarding! They’re my favorite to work with! You are going to get upset parents but just make sure to communicate well and let them know what’s going on! That’s very important and try not to take things personally! Good luck with school!
It depends on the position you’re applying for. For patient care, you need your medical assistant certification or nursing license. Our front office staff handled scheduling and most of them did not have certifications. It also depends on the clinic.
Hi I’m looking to pursue pediatrics after school! 😁 Can you tell me on average how many LPNs would work in your clinic per shift? Like is it 3 or 4 or like just you and one other LPN? Lastly I love kids but I get so shy in front of the parents because of my anxiety thinking the parents will judge me for not being enthusiastic enough! Lol. Like that super bubbly personality it takes to work with kids! I get too shy to be that bubbly / comfortable in front of the parents ! Also parents can be over protective of their child so I overthink pediatrics because I don’t know if I can handle parents being mean to me or rude for certain reasons..
Hey John! One main LVN or MA per doctor and there is a floater for every two doctors! I hope that makes sense! I was intimidated with that too! I’m not a very bubbly person myself but you don’t really have to be! You just have to talk to them in a way that they understand. It gets better with time though! You learn how to interact with them after doing it often. The parents can be overprotective sometimes but it’s not too bad! If you work at a clinic, you’ll see the parents often since they go to every well check. This helps both of you get more comfortable with each other! I hope this helped 😊 I loved pediatrics! I say you go for it!
Ah, I want to get into pediatrics SO bad after I graduated from my LVN program! I’ve been a CNA at LTC’s/SNF’s and it’s making me dread nursing. Pediatrics seems so much more fulfilling and a bit less stressful 🥲
Go for it! I loved it. It can get stressful but I don’t think it’s as stressful as working in long term care! My opinion though! You can always give it a try and if it’s not for you, you can try something different or go back to ltc/snf!
Thank you for sharing! I will be starting my externship in a pediatric office and I was honestly very nervous about it. Thank you for the tips 💗
That’s awesome! I loved working with peds❤️ Good luck, you got this!! & thanks for watching
