well, what did a 21 year old using an antique car as a daily driver, with apparently little to no mechanical ability, or disposable income, EXPECT? Welcome to "Vintage Cars"....
These cars were daily drivers for me...25 years ago! My 93 GT, is a classic, second car at best. For me, it's a continuous, never ending project and toy.
Well said …these cars are easy to work on, but not 4 everyone. He basically bought a project car when he should’ve bought an economy one.sometimes it’s best to just admire the cars & other ppls projects until you can afford your own.
I owned and modified a 1991 GT and drove the wheels off it and it was the reliable daily driver for years and I mean years!! My only complaint or regret is that times got super hard for me and my family and I had to sell it. But at that end of the day it was one of the easiest cars to repair and modify.
My viewers are in their 40s to 60s. I get this sort of thing from that age group too. It is just most people do not have the belief of personal accountability. It's always some one else's fault.
I've daily driven a fox for 9 years, clear through winters. Shit happens, this kid needs to grow up and figure it out on forums and yotube videos. Not post his L's online publicly.
Purchased my 87 GT when I was 19 years old and had problems with it at different times but 261,000 miles later and daily driving it’s still my favorite car to drive👊🦊
@@fotiii1 My 82 RS has 372,000 miles for 42 years of daily driving. I did two mods: replace the 4-speed for a T-5 and the 7.5 with an 8.8 out of 93 Mustang. I just replace the timing chain while I had the cover off to replace the crankshaft seal. Otherwise the 302 is untouched bone stock.

Kid, if you're watching this: You need just take a moment and realize you're in a mess and you're the one who's got to get yourself out of it. You can point fingers all you want. You can get mad. None of that will get your car out of dad's driveway. *It isn't hopeless, it's just hard.* You don't know what you're doing, but the good news is this is how you learn, and there's LOTS of how-to help out there. Your only option is: Take a breath, suck it up, get to work, you just might learn something. How do I know? I was in the exact same spot when I was in high school (in the 80s). Did headers on a rusty POS torsion bar Mopar A-body (4.6 Cobra is easy by comparison). My skill level wasn't anywhere close to that job at that time and it sucked. Car apart in the driveway, taking the freaking bus to work, my dad in my ass about getting it done or hauling it off. Bad weather. 150 piece craftsman tool kit. Everyone said they told me so. No internet. Bad times. It was a rough *3 weeks*. It was badass for high school when it was done. I've been glad ever since I didn't wimp out halfway through.
My 90 is 100% reliable and trouble free. I'd drive it across the country at night. 😁 Of course I took a couple grand and went through it front to rear so it's essentially a new car. 30 or so years ago I made the “youthful mistake” of getting a 1965 Mustang convertible as my only means of transportation. No power nothin’ and no AC. I’m born and raised Texan and KNOW what summers are like here. Black vinyl interior was unforgiving as hell. I’m a better than average “wrench” too and it took me a couple years to realize my mistake. Young folks gonna young folk…. I mention the ‘65 because it was the age these cars are now to people in their late teens early twenties. Hell, I know some grown folks who shouldn’t have a fox body 😂

I've been running a Mustang forum for well over 20 years now. You get people who come into this hobby with eyes wide open and you have people that don't. There are lots of folks with zero brain pan, zero mechanical ability, zero tools and experience, and think that if they buy a Fox, it's going to somehow turn out like the ones in the magazine pages with nothing more than a trip to Autozone. 🤣😂 These are the same people that calculate their HP by adding up the gains advertised in the ads. There's nothing you can do for them. They should have bought a Honda.
I bought my foxbody mustang at the age of 20 still have it never bought it as a daily and changed the plans on it many times over the years I've learned what direction I'm going towards and also bought thousands of parts over the years. I didn't have the experience or knowledge to build the dream car or vision I wanted. Guess what I went to school for welding and worked in a performance shop to learned more and figure out what route i want. Now I have a game plan and the experience to bring my vision to life. I had a kid after buying this car things got hard I even sold the engine and transmission out of it. This isn't my only project vehicle either. I've worked on it here and there. But when it gets done it will be worth it and this car isn't getting sold u know why because it's the car I feel in love with when I was 10 years old. I owe it to myself the 10 year old. God bless 🙌 🙏 ❤️
The problem is buddy you need to do a lot of research and take things in stride. This message is to you young man if you read this you do things little by little until you get them right this is a hobby. I have one that I’ve been working on for approximately four years Right now I’m waiting on the engine because I turned it into a 347 stroker. This is an old man’s game. If your patient it would work out for you if you find people in the Mustang community around your area trust me they will drive over and help youto reach out to any Mustang club in your area that is just a tip. Don’t be discouraged. Get yourself something to get yourself to work and get at it in the end. You will appreciate the work you’ve done with your own hands.
Go figure that someone born after 2000 is blaming someone else for their bad decisions. Welcome to life. Pain is the megaphone where lessons are learned from personal decisions. No one else's fault but their own.
I bought all new brake lines from LMR and almost every connection leaked but I’m not blaming them. Sometimes the new parts you order could be defective and even watching install videos not everything is as easy as it looks. Never give up.
I can't say how this letter to you speaks of inexperience. You are very straight forward in your vids ... but every body who has been around cars at all knows a) you have to have alot of cash or b) you have to be a mechanic to work on your own car including tools/space/ time to have an old school cool hobby car like a Foxbody.
Fox body Mustangs are probably the easiest cars to work on, that has ever rolled off a US assembly line. With a 14 year production span, factory and aftermarket parts are plentiful and cheap/cost effective. These cars were designed 100% opposite of the "planned obsolescence" mindset of today. Everything is serviceable. Parts/items under the hood can be easily reached (plenty of room) and removed. For example, you can have the radiator out in 10 minutes. When I was in my 20's...working in tandem, me and a friend, once changed my clutch, pressure plate, and TOB in 45 minutes! Working on a Honda or Toyota is quite a bit more difficult (and you do have to work on them). I daily drove my fox body for almost two decades; owned it for 34 years. It has been far more reliable than our Honda. Younger people today, need to learn how to fix and maintain things... learn how to do physical work/repairs. Problem is... too many kids now, have grown up playing video games or sitting in front of the computer. If it is not a click with mouse or a touch on a screen, it is too difficult and/or someone else's fault.
Lol, there is so much that could be said, but ya said it best when ya said been there done that, lived it. Ain't nothing like an old Ford to fusterate ya, break your bank, and cause you to wanna quit, but that's part of it. My question is where did a 21yr old get 12gs for a 30yr old car? Daddy bought it, and that's his fault
$12000 for the car, I'm sure it wasn't stock which is part of reliability issue(s) he is having. There is a reason why there are quite a few channels directly related to foxbody mustangs, meaning there is always something to do to them lol.
So, a 30+ year old car is problem free, right. When l bought my foxbody, IT NEEDED WORK!I knew this and planned to slowly restore it.If you want a turn key foxbody be ready with deep pockets and educate yourself on restoration costs.
Hey Caleb I'm blaming you also for Coyote swapping my 01 Bullitt! If it wasn't for the great videos and content you put out, I wouldn't have seen these great ideas put into action! Now with these giveaways I have to enter! Blaming you forsure, but keep it coming brother!
Caleb, I put a 91,!!!! 5.0,h.0 mustang engine in my truck because you said c it was fast and you like pushrods.. I'm 53 and I reved it so high it said, dat,Dat,dat, so I dumped the auto zone cclutch, drove it like you do!!! Tires even smoked just like you do. Buttttt it wasn't the tires smoking. It was my stage 7 auto zone hp clutch. It's your fault!! And dovers fault too. Heck it's even Alex's fault. You guys reached me to blow my stuff. Now it smells like bunt plastic!!!🎉😢😅
The sad reality is, that in 2024, if you aren’t making at least $80,000.00 a year, you probably won’t have the money for parts or to have these cars repaired or restored. Even if you have the mechanical knowledge, the parts alone have become almost prohibitively expensive. The car hobby after COVID has become quite expensive.
ITS YOUR FAULT MY CORNER GLASS LEAKS IM TO FAT FOR MY SEAT AND BENT THE FRAME ITS YOUR FAULT ITS NOT FASTER AND DEFINATELY YOUR FAULT MY BOSS FIRED ME FOR DRINKING ON THE JOB.
Having a Foxbody is a hobby. If you don’t have 1 money 2 willing to work on it 3 learn from it then it’s not the car you need. Ridiculous how he had the nerve to blame someone for something that obviously is his fault. Should’ve bought something newer. And even then he would’ve had a car payment 🤦♂️
Funny, the car was built to be a daily. If you do not have the deposable income to pay someone else to keep it running or the ability ,equipment , and time to build and maintain the vehicles you buy. Maybe one should make better financial decisions! for the select few that can do 95% of the work ourselves. DO BECAUSE WERE ARE POOR AND THE ONLY WAY WE CAN GET THE NICE CARS IS TO BUY SOMEONE ELSE BROKEN DREAMS AND BUILD IT OURSELVES WITH HARD WORK AND SACRIFICE ! I started at age 18, buying collecting tools, cars, parts, and equipment to do what I love. I'm now 55 and have 14 projects to build, and I just finished having my shop built . I may not live long enough to build them all. In the end, we are only the care takes our cars. I like the idea that something I built will live on long after I'm gone, hopefully to be passed on to the next guardian of our car hobby! It's not the car itself , paint , chrome, engine, ect, it's the stories told and the memories made that give the car value . Keep on the road .
Then being old to me would be knowing it's going to have issues, worn out parts, but there def is enough information out there to fix it but agreed as a secondary car
What i remember you said they were go cars but don't get one if you don't want to work on them because they are 30 plus years old you tell everybody what to look for when you go to buy one don't blame someone for your mistakes
What the hell is wrong with these kids! Who buys a 35 year old car as a daily driver? I have a BMW, 2 Honda Accords, a Honda Civic, a Silverado and a 88 Notchback. All my vehicles are 20 years old which is why I have so many. Cars broke, take a different one. Even when I was 16 and had a 79 Trans Am I daily drove a 84 Accord and drove the TA on the weekend because 94 Octane was .99 cents a gallon and making $5 an hour we struggled! 🤣
These cars are super simple especially when they only have bolt ons if you can't work on it you probably aren't mechanically inclined I built a handful of them before I even graduated highschool with a 100 piece craftsman tool set and NO INTERNET 😂😂😂
At least you are taking responsibility for ruining that's kids life 😅 I feel for the kid. Project car for a daily is a mistake I have only made only 60% of the time lol I'm sure he learned a valuable lesson, don't put all your eggs in one basket...now I need to go back to my 04 mach 1 and keep looking for the mystery electrical issue wooo hoooo!!!
Also people put too much emphasis on paint and body and completely forget the car has to be mechanically sound also. 12,000 buys a pretty car. Not necessarily a running reliable car.
Get that guy’s car and fix it on your channel. Show him it can be done and be a lesson for everyone. Probably something stupid. If he spent $12k, it’s probably not a bad car.
You have to atleast have basic mechanical knowledge to do anything on any car. But as you said it’s 30+ year old car! Things become brittle and break and wear out! Car deserves a better owner is what it sounds like
Young folks do not understand it takes time and money to be in the car hobby he should have got something reliable for his first car if he wants a fox body get that down the road and work on it little bit when you get extra money
Dude just wanted to cry and try and make you feel bad, nowhere did I hear him ask for any advice on the problems he's having, this younger generation is completely lost. Ive dailyed my highly modified 93 fox for over 2 yrs now.
This is at best a 31 year old car, even new cars, brand new, have issues, has he never paid attention to recalls, or the service department at the local dealerships. He needs to quit blaming this guy, and realize he bought an old car, that is going to require maintenance, replacement and refurbishment of parts. He also needs to understand that his experience, and lack of mechanical aptitude, may be hindering his progress, leaving the car disabled in his daddy’s driveway. He needs to buy a second car, drive it, and learn how to work on his mustang.
no mechanical ability and to spend 12 grand on a car that's old was a poor decision his part no matter what type of make or modal people put blame on others cause its easier then to admit to themselves the made the wrong decision
These cars ARE easy to work on if you have a modicum of an idea of what youre doing. Nobody goes into working on cars a professional off the bat. Besides, TH-cam is your friend with working on cars. Not just foxbodies but ANY car. If youre too lazy to take the time to learn thats on YOU
People are just dumb asf! So its your fault i want another foxbody to work on and picking up a 91 gt that needs some work. I like your content for sure. This younger gen wants shit handed to them.
21 and not alot of money is where he messed up even if your mechanically inclined these cars will nickel and dime you if your going to mess with foxbodys you need to make sure your income is up to par he would have been better off getting a 3v they make decent power more reliable and are cheaper to get than a foxbody
Then again the reason most of us older gearheads learned how to turn wrenches is out of necessity being a broke teen keeping cheap cars on the road. When your a broke kid you fix it or walk! Well we all know which option gearheads took. What is it necessity breeds ingenuity or something. If he stuck to it he would likely look back n say it was the best thing that could have happened to him he was forced to learn! But then again thinking about it why the hell are you turning innocent impressionable children onto old Ford's... Are you just plain sadistic? That's just wrong in so many ways, at least say if your under 25 n broke or don't hate yourself get a Chevy! Some people 🤪.
It's a 35+ year old car... shit happens. They can be a reliable car for sure. I daily my 87 gt and beat the royal 💩 out of it and it's been great for years! Even drove the thing all the way to ford takeover in June from the indiana/Michigan line with no problems.. with 4.10s and a 3500 non lock converter at that.. buddy probably bought something that needed alota work and tried to get by not fixing it..
I have not seen all of your videos. But try catching as many as possible. I can not remember you even once saying the Fox body was a reliable car. I'm 58 Year old and when I was his age. Going to the junk yard getting parts for my old cars was some of my best memories.
LMR has a blue print crate engine I wanna put in mine, but the only reason I haven't ordered the thing is cause I can't find anybody I trust to put it in there. But I'm not blaming anybody for it🤷♂️
I would [highly] recommend you join a forum in addition to watching these kinds of channels. Dropping a crate engine into a Fox is a weekend deal for two dudes with average mechanical ability and tools. The wiring needs to be handled like it's a new-born and the EEC needs to be sent off for recondition whether you think it needs it or not. On a side note: Blue Print engines are the hot ticket right now, IMO. They use [their own], new cast 4-bolt blocks but don't sell those blocks ala carte. It's a pretty amazing deal. Buy the engine and work out the install once it arrives. I doubt they're going to get cheaper while you wait. 😱
An engine crane with a balancer to tilt the motor, was $175 at Harbor Freight years back. A plug in/bolt in, swap is not hard. There is no one to trust with a swap. Research, plan for the known complications. Expect it to take longer and cost more than you thought. That said it should be waaaay cheaper to do for yourself. It can be easier than tearing into an engine for maintenance. Once you've swapped it, THERE IS NO ONE YOU CAN TRUST to even do simple tasks. Things changed and a regular mechanic will not know what has changed. Get a friend to help.

Mr Foxcast ! I like that continue doing what y’all do love the content thank you ! 🙏🏻
Love the 5.0 Keychain.
We had a saying in Detroit back in the day. Chrome dont get ya home. Lol
12k and it's full of problems? Don't buy a used car if you don't know what the hell your looking at,or what to look for!
Someone didn't see the pops car saga! I can't blame you I had mine since 02 dang it lol 😆 😂
Hey buddy keep up the good work your going to have people like this it's easy to put the blame on someone else
Classic case of someone saying if I had a fox I’d drive it every day and don’t realize it ain’t for the weak lol
You are amazing Caleb. Don’t worry about negative comments. ❤
Wish I could like this video a hundred times!! I'm on my 3rd mustang! Invested ..,000 on them! It cost money! Have a dependable car to drive!! ;-)
No matter how old you are, if you buy a used car except to have to put up some money to fix it
Anyone who expects to daily or remotely drive a 30 y/o car these days regularly must expect all these conditionals. Common sense.
Guy probably posts the standard "what oil do I need" crap in every Mustang group on the internet too.
Yeah it’s your fault I got 12 mustangs and love all the busted knuckles that go with them. Lol
Don't blame others for the choices you made!!!!!
Good lord. What the actual f&@k.
Caleb - it was your fault I bought an 82 Capri because of project frostbite and I couldn’t rig the contest 🤣😂🤪
WHO KNEW???!!!!!!
My 17 year old daughter daily 's a 92 f150 and we work on it regularly but don't have that much trouble but it is a under 100000 mile truck
Its someone who knows nothing about cars, foxbodies are simple as "f" to work on.
Then being old to me would be knowing it's going to have issues, worn out parts, but there def is enough information out there to fix it but agreed as a secondary car
No, it's Dover's fault...just kidding :)
A foxbody mustang is 31-45 years old... odds are there's gonna be a problem or two my guy. 😅
Well, YEAH! LOL!!!
Project car for a daily is a mistake I have only made only 60% of the time lol
I'm sure he learned a valuable lesson, don't put all your eggs in one basket...now I need to go back to my 04 mach 1 and keep looking for the mystery electrical issue wooo hoooo!!!
Car deserves a better owner is what it sounds like
So next time mrs is po about the bored 351w block taking up space I'll point her to you 😅
Young folks do not understand it takes time and money to be in the car hobby he should have got something reliable for his first car if he wants a fox body get that down the road and work on it little bit when you get extra money
Dude just wanted to cry and try and make you feel bad, nowhere did I hear him ask for any advice on the problems he's having, this younger generation is completely lost. Ive dailyed my highly modified 93 fox for over 2 yrs now.
These cars are not for younger people. There for us gen x. That can work.on cars
Younger gen, they are not us. SMH
Man I feel for him but him blaming you for his inability to get the car running is unfortunately a product of that generation in many cases.
Trying to get car worked on for free
Dang. He paid $12k for a car with a BYPASSED heater core!! Red flag! Red flag! Lol run away!
I was thinking the same thing--there's no way one should be on sale for 12K with a bypass heater core!
I guess the kid didn't watch your pops car videos.
no mechanical ability and to spend 12 grand on a car that's old was a poor decision his part no matter what type of make or modal people put blame on others cause its easier then to admit to themselves the made the wrong decision
When in doubt... blame Boomer
Yes...Being resourceful and willing to do what it takes to get the job done was key--back in the day!
Definitely do it yourself, a lot easier than you imagine..
