Awesome videos!!! Thank you! I was able to replace, the water outlet valve, as well as the water outlet hose to the reservoir from your videos. Problem now is where that hose connects to the water outlet valve...this new hose from O'Reillys doesn't have that black clip you took off and mine got knocked off and disappeared when my mom touched, the front, off the old one. I have the metal pin just not that so still leaks out the top as it's not sealed tight it seems and where that pin slides in at the sides. Such a stupid design imo when everything can be done with clamps except this. Any idea what that black clip part number is? There is a newer one for newer models and bigger engines but not, the 1.4L turbo one, I need. Any help is greatly appreciated!🙏 This coolant leak has been ridiculous! If I need a new hose as the O ring won't seal now, let me know, brand new just lacking that clip, which yours came with.

Your Cruze videos helped me a bunch. I had the same problem. Advance Auto had a dorman available to order. That dorman hose is interesting, its actually one piece to the top of the water outlet. No black half clamp. You gotta take the next piece out once you take the old hose out and the new dorman fits as one piece. Hopefully itll last longer than the GM. Thanks again!

Buying all of the hoses online was MUCH cheaper than buying the hoses from GM. And yes, you can find quality parts for all of the hoses, I am actually replacing all of them in my roommates' 2011 Cruze right after I watch this and a few other videos. I also recommend that since the coolant reservoir tank likes to crack, buying one that has reinforcements in the barbs like my roommates did as well.

Hey buddy great work. I got a question, the pipe ( hose) going to the front radiator, how do I remove that from the radiator?? I can remove the end going to the Watter outlet valve but dont know how to remove the other end ( radiator side) . I am talking about one the Two big houses going to the radiator, the soft hose not PVC pipe ... thanks

I have the exact same problem with this hose, it;s a disease with all of them, my car is an Opel Adam S, same parts from GM. BTW - really good videos !!!
Love you long time.. I did everything and bought everything and I was wondering where did I go wrong. I replaced the reservoir and water outlet pipe and to find out here that it's the hose
1:08 attached to that return hose he’s pointing at, there’s a hose beneath it that has a metal sleeving. Does anyone know the part number to that and a know of a video showing how to replace it? That’s where I’m experiencing a leak
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. To get the exact part # for your exact engine, we recommend contacting your local Chevy dealership and providing them with the last 8 digits of your vin #. Once the dealership gives you the exact replacement part # for your exact engine, you can make the choice to either purchase the part from them or elsewhere. Keep us posted. 😎👍
Hey I need to replace the back hose the goes into the coolant housing unit. The back lower one it looks like it goes into the dash. It's bad how do you do that
@@kappy0405 it worked well for me. I was leaking coolant pretty bad. It's definitely an improved design without that little clip. I did notice the price went up. Pretty sure I only paid $18. Glad I could help.
Thanks for watching & if you are referring to the larger hose, this is just a standard coolant hose. To get the exact replacement hose, you can contact your local Chevy dealership and give them the last 8 digits of your vin #. They will be able to get you the exact replacement part for your exact vehicle. You can either purchase the replacement hose from them or elsewhere, it’s personal preference.
I have a leak but its from the bottom plastic piece, there is an oring that got eaten up, i replaced it, and it happened again, just replaced it again, any ideas y this is happening, o replaced the thermostat already & coolant hose
I would have reused the factory constant tension clamp that held the hose to the coolant reservoir. The worm gear clamps that you tighten with a screw driver will need to be checked periodically, because the thermal cycling will make the clamp looser. As the clamp compresses the hose, the hose will thin out in that area, making the worm gear clamp loose, but the factory constant tension clamps, will keep pressure on it at all times, no need to ever check it.
I replaced this hose but I didnot drain the coolant like you said. As soon as I pulled out the hose from the connection point, The whole coolant drained out from the connection system. Is there a reason for that or did I miss any step ? Thank you. Your videos are of great help.
Thanks for watching, since this part is a vital portion of coolant system, if it’s removed without draining coolant first, all coolant will leak out. Keep us posted on your project, us DIYers need to stick together! 😎👍

Hey! So, I had to replace this part, because the old hose connections erroded/broke. The water/thermostat housing is also new, since I had to replace that. I am still getting leaks where the inlet hose connects to the thermostat housing connector. I have ensured the hose has the oring on it, but it still has a slow leak inbetween the bridge between the two. Any recomendations? It definitely is not leaking on the housing side connector.
Michael Shissler What’s up Michael, thanks for watching & we hope you enjoyed the video. It’s possible that your rubber hose has warped to a point that it can no longer create that watertight seal. Over the years of the engine warming up and cooling down as well as the outside air temperature constantly changing, your rubber hose that was once “soft & flexible” becomes very “stiff and hard”.... which then leads to your clamp not being able to meet with the rubber hose to create that seal. A new hose may fix your problem. Let us know if you have any questions. Many more helpful videos to come. 😀 Please subscribe to the channel and turn on your TH-cam notification Bell 🛎 that would be awesome thanks again! 😎👍🔧🔩
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders Both the hose and the housing are both new. Its leaking at the connection point between the hose and the housing. @ 6:55 of your video, you are plugging the hose into the housing connector. This is where it is leaking.

Appreciate the video!! Question, I’m in the middle of this project, and when I remove the connection to the water outlet valve, the coolant is streaming out. Is this normal? I didn’t notice any in your video. Thanks in advance!
Beth H Thanks for watching Beth. This project will not require the coolant system to be drained. DIY With Michael Borders Thanks, I agree! Appreciate all the DIY’ers out there!! I will definitely let you know. The coolant I referred to wasn’t from the hose, it was bubbling up continuously where the hose connects next to the engine, so I was nervous because I saw that it didn’t need to be drained! Kenneth Warner Thanks for watching & we hope the video helped. It will depend on your coolant level in your actual reservoir tank. If your coolant level in tank is far lower than Return Hose connection, you won’t need to drain entire system. Just be careful because you may see coolant leak out from the connection fitting on the opposite side where hose connects to Water Outlet Valve. Just do your best to use a disposable towel to catch up & clean up all spilled coolant. 👍 We really enjoy making these helpful videos for our fellow DIY’ers. Awesome videos, I enjoy watching them and learning how to work on my Cruze. I have a 2012 6-speed with 176500 miles. I was watching another one of these videos and was curious about this fix so I removed this hose from my water outlet valve and coolant spewed everywhere. Luckily it wasn't hot but I would say it definitely depends on the level in the reservoir.

As of 05-01-2020 Dorman makes an aftermarket part 626-609. It looks a little different but is holding up well for my wife's 2014 cruze. Will update after 6 months. Also it came with lifetime warranty so that was awesome for 21.00 in CA. If I were to do this all over I would replace 3 things all at once the outlet hose, the reservoir and the outlet coolant vavle( its on the right side of the motor, mechanic perspective). The reason being these parts have roughly the same operational life and will fail all together or like mine did one after the other in same month. Save some money on coolant and time. The cost of this job is below totaling 2 hours to someone with light mechanic work and roughly 76 to 80 dollars for parts. Long comment, also if you care about your hands and time replace those dang cheap hose clamps, 5 to 6 bucks gets you all the clamps with screw driver tightening mechanism. $12.00 coolant (Dex Cool 50/50 1gal) $21 outlet hose Dorman 626-609 $21coolant outlet valve Delco or Dorman 15-11105 $22 coolant reservoir 603-383

@@gyme6077 Thank you so much! I installed the Dorman Water Outlet and still have leaking. Hopefully this will be better than the OEM hose.
@@kappy0405 it worked well for me. I was leaking coolant pretty bad. It's definitely an improved design without that little clip. I did notice the price went up. Pretty sure I only paid $18. Glad I could help.
What is the hose directly under the one you replaced? The much thicker one. Mine popped off and car overheated.
Thanks for watching & if you are referring to the larger hose, this is just a standard coolant hose.
To get the exact replacement hose, you can contact your local Chevy dealership and give them the last 8 digits of your vin #.

Thanks for watching & sharing your advice Michael. Any & all helpful info is greatly appreciated.
Hope all is well with you and your family.

I replaced this hose but I didnot drain the coolant like you said. As soon as I pulled out the hose from the connection point, The whole coolant drained out from the connection system. Is there a reason for that or did I miss any step ?

Thanks for watching, since this part is a vital portion of coolant system, if it’s removed without draining coolant first, all coolant will leak out.

Michael Shissler
What’s up Michael, thanks for watching & we hope you enjoyed the video. A new hose may fix your problem.

does coolant need drained for this?
Kenneth Warner
Thanks for watching & we hope the video helped. 👍
