The drain plug on my 1998 300 is sitting behind the tube frame. Anyone else have this issue? I cant get a socket on it, only an open end wrench and feels like I may round it off.
i just use cheap "Valvoline 80W-90 High Performance Conventional Gear Oil". it is cheap, but says "Recommended for conventional hypoid differentials"... so i assume it is the correct one.?. it does not say "hypoid gear oil" but "Recommended for conventional hypoid differentials"...
If it says hypoid it is correct. I used Belray honestly just because I am not the best about changing it regularly and they recommend it over anything else. I used Valvoline in the past with no issues.
Owners manual says to use SAE 10W-40 for the front and 80W for the rear diff
Stamped right on the diff what to use.
Thanks for the video but i missed where you said how much oil to add.
Until it came out of the fill hole on the front.
@@BryanHansen Thankyou
Hypoid gear oil is gl-5 - most synthetic gear oils meet that spec.
GL-5 is suitable for hypoid gear service under severe service and shock loads and not for use in a gearbox.

Try spraying a little kroil on it first.
Gotta bust your balls that you opened drain first . 😉

Honda told me to use regular 10 w 40. Is this correct
Not in the differential. In the transfer case yes, differential, no.
NO,You need hypoid 80w gear oil,it says so right on the diff.
