    That turkey hen must really like you, to allow you to touch her newly hatched chicks and eggs without your getting pecked or fussed at.

    Ahhhhhh,....CUTESVILLE here my buddy! I remember you told us that turkey hens make good moms, whether for chicks, ducklings or even their own poults, the li'l ones look bright and healthy, and the ducks! Wait a second are those the baby ducks that some were hatched by Momma Duck and some others by Momma Turkey Hen? I'm thinking you already removed their Momma Turkey Hen? Beautiful upload, thanks for sharing good buddy!

    • @qualqui
      @qualqui 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      dogs left unattended by their owners are really bad and mean, growin' up I had a pet doe, she gave birth to 10 baby rabbits, one got sat on and flattened by the weight of momma rabbit, well the neighbor's dogs, 3 of 'em got all except the momma and one li'l buck.

    • @lifeinthailand
      @lifeinthailand  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That sucks man, that is one of the reasons I well not let any dogs in my yard, everyone gets screamed if the gate is left open, that and the dogs are all covered in bugs, don't need to be dealing with that either.

    How does it work when other birds give another her eggs? They just lay there egg in her pile? Or does she push them there? But that don't work when she is in a bin.... hmmm

    • @lifeinthailand
      @lifeinthailand  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They normally lay it next to the nest or push the mom out of the way and lay in the nest, they always find a way.

    Question: why a hammer head is hanging in the duckling pen?

    • @lifeinthailand

      I used old hammerheads as counterweights on my quail cage doors.

    What is more valuable? A Muscovy Hen or a Muscovy Drake? I purchased five Muscovy ducklings in May 2018 and four of them ended up being drakes. The seller said that I could trade the drakes in for equal amounts of hens.

    • @lifeinthailand
      @lifeinthailand  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on what you want them for. Around here when there full grown there sold by weight, so the males are worth nearly 3x as much, but if you're not going to eat them, they're worthless.
      I would offer the same deal as the seller and then eat the excess males.
      This is why I tell new people who are getting chickens for the first time, get chickens that are already sexed so you know what you have or buy older birds where it is easy to tell what they are, a yard full of roosters is never a good thing.
      The choice is yours but I would eat the extra males and get more babies, they are delicious, better than beef.
      Sorry about your luck, 50% males are normal, but 80% is just bad luck in your case, would make me happy though. lol

    • @luigiprovencher
      @luigiprovencher 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah! Most post are offering them as straight runs because they don't know how to sex them or that its even possible to sex them. lol I don't plan on eating them because I got them for the fun of it and eggs and I don't really enjoy killing things. I was told by the seller that it's best to have a 3-1 ratio because the drakes can be too rough for just one hen.

    • @lifeinthailand
      @lifeinthailand  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Understand, not everyone can or wants to do the killing. But if you breed them then you will keep having this problem, maybe just a few females are the way to go. Sexing baby ducks can be done I think but you have to know what you're doing. I don't even try, I just cross my fingers and hope for all dudes...lol
      There fun to have and they make delicious eggs.
      I like 5 -1 but no more than 3 - 1. I have way too many females now, I got lazy and I am paying for it now with poor hatch rates.

    • @luigiprovencher
      @luigiprovencher 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you use raw unfiltered vinegar or electrolytes in their water? Heard they need more niacin in their food/diet then other birds. Figured I'd just sell all the males that I did't want.

    • @lifeinthailand
      @lifeinthailand  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, I add Apple Cider Vinegar to chicken and turkey water if I think they might have worms but never ducks.
      Selling them is a good idea, not as easy as it might seem though, of course, that depends on a lot of things, maybe the neighbor would happily buy them all, best check to see if anyone is interested though. And it is nice to have baby ducks around, they a lot of fun to watch as you already know.
