    Glad I found this Alex myself I have Panoptix and I use the bottom fill feature a lot and that helps with identifying fish tight to the bottom. Like anything else the more you use it the better you get at what it’s trying to tell you ! The ability for it to show you how many fish are around compared to a flasher is HUGE. I also like using it a lot more ice fishing than open water seems open water your messing more around with the unit than fishing.

    Great comparison. I have the PS22 and was wondering what I was missing for $1K... I'll get the LVS32 when they come out with a version 2 and the prices drop for it. My electronics cost almost as much as my boat.

      Thank you, glad you got some value out of it. I will for sure be posting more comparisons as I get out more with it. Do you only open water fish or are you in an area where you can ice fish too? (I hear you on the value of the electronics vs the boat haha!)

      True about electronics costing as much (or more) than a boat. I have a Lund 1850 Tyee with a Mercury 100 and a Evinrude 90 as a backup motor, and bow mount Minn Kota. Repainted the boat motor trailer, so looks nice.. I have 1400 invested in everything listed above. But when it comes to electronics, deals are not as steeply discounted.

      I have a couple others out on the livescope but not on the PS22 yet (I will be working on putting more out though). The operation is nearly identical to the livescope transducer with just a few small differences. Do you have any specific questions or videos you want to see? I heard livescope has a lot of dead zones is this true? That has stopped me from buying the transducer. I've been looking into the PS22 but that isn't as clear. I recently sold my Helix units and got Garmin but now I'm thinking I made a mistake because of mega live. But I'm assuming that will have dead zones as well but only time will tell. Still undecided on what transducer to get tho lol.

    • @AlexTimm
      @AlexTimm  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't had a major issue with dead zones with the LiveScope transducer, and from my understanding it is tied to the noise rejection setting pretty significantly. I have a video on how to fix the "ghost tree" which talks a bit about it and you might find helpful if you haven't seen it yet th-cam.com/video/f0ef7XO-SNw/w-d-xo.html
      The PS22 has its strengths (longer range, no issues of ghost tree or dead zones, no interlacing issues) and obvious weaknesses vs livescope (not nearly as clear, not great bottom separation, harder to identify specific fish or fish in weeds). But depending on what you are targeting they each have their place in my opinion. I believe I will be using both heavily this winter on the ice.

    • @AlexTimm
      @AlexTimm  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome, I will for sure be making more with the PS22. And you are correct, I haven't heard of any dead spot issues with the PS22 (which makes sense as it is only the one sonar surface vs 3 with the LVS32; so no stitching of the beams needs to happen which is where the issue of the dead zone happens). As always thanks for watching and commenting! 👍👍

      @rtaylor054 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, I really appreciate you doing this comparison. Would love to see more where both forward ranges are equal. Do you have any issue with crosstalk between the PS22 and the LVS32?
      Thanks!!!

    • @AlexTimm
      @AlexTimm  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rtaylor054 Yeah, I will do them with the same forward ranges to compare, I've found the livescope is pretty much a crapshoot after about 70' forward whereas if you are deep enough the Panoptix can easily shoot 100'+ so that comparison will be good. I've not noticed any crosstalk between them at all which is really nice to see

    • @rtaylor054
      @rtaylor054 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I less interested in the range as I seldom search beyond 70'. Would love to see a side by side comparison with a range of around 40' in 20 to 30 fow, possibly with a brushpiles as well.
      This situation is where my dead spot shows up worse. Appreciate any helpful videos. Looks like the PS22 will fit my needs!

  • @donmcilroy
    @donmcilroy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Fishing with the PS-22 for a few weeks now and I can tell you need to dial your sensitivity up on the PS-22. If you plan on primarily using down view in deeper water (50-100) the PS-22 will do a better job and give you a larger 2D return. This helps especially if you have a smaller 7-9 inch screen. Jigging Lake trout in 100 feet of water, you won't be happy with the LS. Easiest way to think about this is comparing it to standard 2D sonar and "Structure Scan". They both have a place and time in my opinion.
