Country folks are all across the land, we come in every race and skin tone, we are taught to live off the land, hunt, fish, grow your own food and the city people call us names and look down on us as if we are less than them, they live in big cities where everything is brought to them, when the stores have no food, banks have no money, these people will not know what to do. That's what this song is all about. Those that know how to live off the land will survive.
That’s really the divide in this country, rural vs urban. Amazing how effective identity politics has been getting people to focus on something as simple as skin color and calling that culture.
Howdy from Bedias Tx.... round here we run lines in the Navasta Brazos and Trinity rivers!!! Hunt and process our own meat.. Country boys WILL Survive!!!!!
I have been a city girl, country girl working on the farm and island girl, have lived all sides. Those that live in the cities depend on the rural blue collar workers for everything yet still somehow believe they are superior. They usually own nothing and dress and live to pretend, the bank owns their whole life. Stop judging others and realize we are all important to the circle of life. Show appreciation. Complement and thank those who are doing the jobs you don't want to do. If you work in corporate America stop looking at a piece of paper with numbers on it and think you know what is happening in your own company. Respect the people on the front line, the cashiers, warehouse, drivers, etc. who are the real face of your company. If you ever gave time to hear from the frontline you would probably improve your bottom line. When the company does well reach back and give to your front lines, stop stealing the profits, ruining the company and then leaving, all for yourself. As God said, money is necessary, it is an exchange but the love of money is evil.
I moved to TN from Chicago and I married me a country boy. Still my husband 35 years later and my best friend. Could not ask for a better man. He grew up in the country and fishes and we have a huge garden. We are making homemade tomato juice tomorrow along with some delicious homemade salsa. We can green beans and more. Never thought my life would end up like this but I am sure glad it did.
I always loved that he included us in Northern California. People forget that us in Central Valley and Northern California are country folk. I live in a town surrounded by orchards, rodeos, cattle, and fields. We don't even have a grocery store and I raise chickens which is pretty normal in town ☺️
There are “country folks” all over this land, yes - and as an Ohioan, I’m also glad he included North California. “… and little towns all around this land” - basically anywhere outside the sphere of the big cities ! I live less than a 30 minute drive outside of Cincinnati, and while my town has grown a lot, we still have many “cornfields and cows” farms, and lots of woodlands for deer hunting, rivers and lakes for fishing. I have much more in common with “country folks” than I do with “in-the-city folks” - and hope to move even further out to a more-rural area in the future.
no shame in raising chickens. one of the neighbors used to do that out by where i used to live at. those roosters can get pretty damned mean though. there was one that when one would feed it. it would fly up and over the fence and went chasing after folks at times.

His father, Hank Williams Sr., lived hard and died too young for his son to get to know him. He inherited his dad's talent - this song is as relevant now as when it was recorded.
His guitar says; Bocephus, which is his nickname in Nashville! Yes, I'm a country girl, I will survive too! I can my own food and that includes venison, canned venison is the best! You can eat it straight from the jar! It melts in your mouth! Fresh caught perch are the best and I don't mind cleaning them either, my husband doesn't mind letting me! Ha!Ha!Ha! He's originally from the city and he doesn't do it right so I'd rather do it and be safe! Great reaction to Hank!
Hank Jr. is a true country boy and outdoorsman. He fell off a mountain in Montana in 1975 while he was doing some scouting for a bighorn sheep hunt. "A Country Boy Can Survive" has been ingrained as part of the soundtrack of my and so many other lives for four decades plus now.
This song was written at a time when we were reeling from all time high crime and the big recession if the '70's. Very reflective of the times. Seems appropriate for today, too.
This makes me so proud I grew up on this music in the 90s it's hard to imagine there are people who have never heard this. I know it word for word. I'm glad people are still enjoying it.
Their isnt enough time in the day to listen to Hanks good songs. He is outstanding. Living legend is an undestatment. He is one of the last outlaws. Research everything he has accomplished
Give "Family Tradition" a try and then if you wanna check out his daddy's music --- Hey Good Lookin' and I cannot believe I just blanked out on more of Hank Sr's stuff
The guitar says 'Bocephus', one of his nicknames. And speaking of surviving, he fell 500 feet while climbing Ajax Peak in Montana. Ripped most of his face off and was blinded in one eye, and lived to tell the tale. That's why he always has a beard and those dark sunglasses, hides the scars. One of my favorite Country/Southern Rock artists.
This is what country folks call outlaw country. This song is the epitome of my oldest brother and this is the one song I'm having played when he passes.
Country folks can survive! My family lives off the land for the most part. If things was to go south with this world we would survive. You should try Hank Williams Jr....The Coalition & The Ballad of Hank Williams (Hank Williams Jr's dad!) Jr sings it about his dad. The Coalition is funny, but true!!! I love ❤️ Hank Jr. His dad died when 3 & at the height of his career. Jr. learned a lot about his daddy. Oh course all those good old country boys took Jr under their wing & filled him full of knowledge about his dad! Almost every country artist has wrote a song about him or a reference about him. Died at 29, but will be known as the King of Country forever!! 👑🎶❤️
Hey brother, I'm a country boy from Idaho. This song has so much meaning for me. When I was in the military, my friends were from inner citys. And I ended up in an inner city...a few actually. But this was always my anthem. I have turned many brothers to Hank Jr. Just as they have turned me to a lot of their music. I am still today a huge jazz and blues fan. And while you were feeling this song, your head bounce was exactly what mine was. Thank you for bringing an alternative to your fans. I'm not even a country fan. But just someone from a small town in idaho who loves all music...I just happen to be a metal head.

I thank God for my country roots. As I’m watching this my husband is out on our land hunting and I pulled 2quarts of green beans, I grew and then canned, out of my root cellar for Thanksgiving dinner. I look out my window and see my chickens and ducks running around. Goats in the pasture and the sound of my grands running and playing🫶🏼
Hank Williams (Jr's daddy) was one of the greatest song writer in country music. JR now only does things that interest him so his albums can be a bit inconsistent but there's always at least one gem on them.

I can listen to every music from classical to heavy metal every thing except some 80’s gangster rap
Hank Williams Jr's father is probably the biggest and most influential legend in the genre. His father had a huge impact, writing and recording a lot of hits for such a short career. Hank Williams Sr unfortunately passed away at the age of 29, while riding in the back of a Cadillac, heading to a show on New Years Eve Night in 1953. Hank Jr was 3 years old. Hank Jr was raised in the music business to basically be a clone of his father, but when he became an adult, he started wanting to do things his own way. But everybody acted like he was crazy for not staying in the mold that they placed him in. During that time, he went on a big horn sheep hunt in the mountains, and landslide caused him to fall 500ft down a mountain. He landed face-first into a boulder. Crushed his face, knocked his eye out of it's socket, and exposed part of his brain. His friend hiked out to get help, while the friend's young son stayed with Hank and talked to him to help keep him calm and awake. Help finally came roughly 4 hours later, and he awoke several days later in a hospital with June and Johnny Cash by his bedside. Ever since that accident, he started wearing the beard, hat, and shades to cover up the scars.. Hank Jr is a legend in his own right. Him and his father are on my Mount Rushmore of favorite artists. His song "All In Alabama" kinda touches on that accident, with a positive message.. I haven't seen anyone react to it yet.
Brought up in NYC and I didn't learn music survival knowledge. Moved to Florida and did learn to fish. But I do know how to walk the city and deal with the mean street. Survival knowledge of a different sort. LOVE this song... and he can sure sing.
Bocephus's daddy Hank Sr. was an amazing singer also. His stepfather Johnny Horton was a fantastic country storyteller singer. Try listening to Johnny Horton. Bocephus has a lot of fun and great songs
Please react to the Hank Williams JR song Family Tradition. I saw the best Concert I ever went to in 1983 in My Hometown of Wilmington NC. A young up and coming group Alabama opened up for Hank Williams JR. Everyone knew Alabama would be Stars. Both Hank Williams JR and Alabama are in the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Hank Williams almost died from falling off a mountain. He sustained massive head injuries. Took a lot of operations to fix him up. That's why he wears the hat & sunglasses. Anyway, my favorite songs are "Red, White & Pink Slip Blues" and "You Can Keep The Change." Give those a listen.
He's not wrong. I learned so much growing up in the country it's not even explainable in a comment. We made our own sugar and honey, and our own jellies and jams with it. Fishing, hunting, farming, survival... Country folks know what I mean.
Listening to Hank Williams, and Hank Williams Jr., always reminds me of the relationship between my Papa (grandpa), and my cousin Robbie, and I honestly don't know why, but I always think of the two of them when I hear either one. Thanks for another great reaction.

Hilarious thing about this video is listening to the words of the song while he’s sitting there with thousands in rings, boots, a hat and a pair of Gucci sunglasses on
So its funny because he's singing the virtues of self-sufficiency...hyperbole but if you had no bills, food costs, etc....but had a job as well.....maybe you would use a bit of that disposable currency on fashion?
I relate to this way of life in the south. I grew up in Arkansas cleaning fish and wrapping deer meat for the freezer. Fish fries and fried deer steak can't be beat. Good memories!
I'm 46yrs old. Born and raised in West Virginia hunting and fishing. I tell my 19yr old daughter I may not be computer savvy but if shit hits fan I still know how to hunt and fish. I won't starve.
this song may depict an olden days lifestyle in city folks opinion, but many of us live it daily and prepared if things get bad. I can't imagine anything in the city replacing this lifestyle.
I've listened to a lot of reactors on this song and they never understand what the line " I'd love to spit some Beechnut in that dude's eye" As all of us country boys know Beechnut is a brand of chewing tobacco...thought you might like to know
This was my daddy's favorite song. He listened to it all the time. Now every time I hear it I tear up a little with all memories of daddy listening to this and singing along. I'm so glad you listened to it and liked it.
When everything crashes, we don't know no different. We live off the land, not having money. Don't mean a thing to us. No matter what, us country folks will find a way to survive. When I was 12, I would take a sleeping bag, a fishing pole, a 22lr and a fire starter. Up in the hills around our house and be gone for a week. Just living off the land. Didn't matter where I went my dad and uncles would track and find me. My dad would come up and check on me every day. I sure do miss those carefree days of my summer childhood. It's just a way of life around here. It's sad but I would never let my sons do that when they were that age. 50 years ago, was just a much different time.
Hank Jr. is also known by his nickname, Boecephous!!!
His guitar says Bocephus because that’s his nickname and his daddy Hank Williams Senior was a country music legend as well
HANK jR and daddy are classic 🔥
It’s as true today as it was when it was WRITTEN!
We don’t live off of the Govt or handouts! We LIVE AND WORK
Hilarious thing about this video is listening to the words of the song while he’s sitting there with thousands in rings, boots, a hat and a pair of Gucci sunglasses on
So its funny because he's singing the virtues of self-sufficiency...hyperbole but if you had no bills, food costs, etc....but had a job as well.....maybe you would use a bit of that disposable currency on fashion?
I relate to this way of life in the south. I grew up in Arkansas cleaning fish and wrapping deer meat for the freezer. Fish fries and fried deer steak can't be beat. Good memories!
His guitar says BOCEPHUS. That's his nickname, I've heard it was given to him by his father, Hank Williams Sr.
very awesome song one of more of my favorite artists
Justin Johnson makes some Awesome Music & 3 string shovel guitar's! 🔥😎🎼🌟
💜🙏✌
Hank Jr used to sing the Monday Night Football opening song in the 90s 🤣 it was always a banger
It don't take much to make an idea a reality. Keep your life simple and you don't need a city. PEACE!!!!!
