Bought a new prime bulb, I noticed that if I don't have a hose on the outlet end it doesn't pump fuel out unless I put my finger on the outlet side, is this normal, my old prime bulb sucked fuel even without a hose at the end
Should priming bulb stay firm after priming and operating engine for a while? After I run engine at full RPM I notice priming bulb goes soft. Is this normal or should it stay firm ? Does this mean I have a vaccine leak somewhere ? Thanks!
It might loose some firmness once the engine starts using some gas. But the build should stay inflated (not get sucked in) and it should still be more form than when you first started out. Does the motor bog down or act like it’s starving for gas when it goes soft? If not, you are probably ok. If it is impacting the motor I would change the bulb and check the fuel filter.
When my engine is in gear and running at high RPM for a while and then I drop it down to idle low pressure oil light comes on and has tendency to stall when in idle and in gear. Bulb does feel soft after running open trying to figure out ifs it’s an oil pump issue or fuel delivery issue
@Adam0468 oil pressure light shouldn’t have anything to do with not getting gas (soft bulb). Next time squeeze the bulb while running high RPMs, if it doesn’t die when you drop to idle then it’s likely either a bad bulb or a fuel pump issue. If it still dies then something else is up with your oil system
Interesting and useful tips. Thanks for the sacrifice to show the workings.
I appreciate all of your support over the last couple years. Thanks
@@Skinnyriver by far the most useful you tube channel if you own a 6hp mercury/ tohatsu outboard
I keep your videos relating to 6hp (T) motor... Go fishing! 🎣

I’m not sure if there is a safety leak prevention thing on the new ones or not. Mine will pump without hose
Great video
Where did you get that priming bulb? do you have a link?
Best one on Amazon www.amazon.com/dp/B0053HP43I/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_4D0DHQ3RQNJHCW984AHA?linkCode=ml2&tag=skinnyriver07-20
Kid sold me a boat said it was starving for gas, that line was backwards, turned and im gold
That worked out great for you!
@Skinnyriver would you say the prime ball I'd a good alternative to the choke cable?

Hey thanks very much
Appreciate the view!!!

Thank you for your help ! Love the videos
Primer bulbs “should” always remain in vertical position so check values function properly
Good point, thanks.
If you have the flow the wrong way it will vapor lock you fuel tank and will pinch your line.
