Is this the Best Flying BizJet?? Xfly J65 Twin 70mm EDF

  • Here's my full assembly and flight review of the Xfly-Model J65 twin 70mm EDF jet. This is such a nice looking airplane that is engineered well and flies extremely nicely. The model comes with a gyro as well that really helps stabilize it, especially in windy conditions. She's a wheelie machine if you coax it right on the touch and goes! :) #Gulfstream #RCPlanes #TheRCGeek

    It's nice flight. If I ever hit the lottery I'll come out there and film it so you have some good aerial footage of it

    OMG, I busted a gut when you opened the box and tried to pull out the foam packing and broke off a piece of the foam. I did the exact same thing. LOL.
    FYI. Mine came with a bad control board; landing gear would not work. Xfly quickly sent me a replace control board. excellent customer service.

    Nice review. For me its either this one or the Motion RC PJ50 jet, I am still trying to figure out which is best value and flyer?

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, I haven’t flown the freewing, so can’t say there. I can say that the Xfly is quite a bit more scale looking than the freewing and has the scale landing gear as well.

    • @ericmaglio
      @ericmaglio ปีที่แล้ว

      The ease of assembly and breakdown alone makes it a no-brainer in favor of the XFly! They're both large models so the plugs built into the wings and tail make a big difference.

    Just curious why you would install the Pulsar system when you have the same ability with just your AR8360T Spektrum AS3X/Safe Rx ? Otherwise go with the cheaper AR8020T without AS3X.

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  ปีที่แล้ว

      Right. I used an rx that I had laying around but wanted to use the provided system for the review since that was what was supplied with the model.

    I have never flown an rc plane but I have the opportunity to buy one just like this for 200.00 should I? Is it easy to learn. I've always wanted to have one but I feel scared to crash it.

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These gulfstream models fly extremely nice, but are not what you want to start with. It’s something to work up to. If you’re looking to get into RC flying, the best investment to make up front is on a good simulator. From there, get connected with a local club and seek out some flight instruction. That will save you time and money while you are learning and give you a good foundation to grow from.

    Good on grass ? What is the diameter of the wheel?

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it’ll handle grass ok. The mains are a good diameter for that. The nose wheels are smaller of course, but it seems to be pretty light on the nose.

    • @gr8motive
      @gr8motive ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Thercgeek you think the mains are as large as the Viper 90? (65mm)

  • @davidgerlach1132
    @davidgerlach1132 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow Chris, this plane looks like a joy to fly. It's low wing load makes it soar almost like a glider. It's like a twin Viper in steroids. You'd be my 1st pick as my private pilot flying my full scale Xfly J65 on my business trips with your shenanigans looping and rolling with a luxury passenger jet. 🙂
    BTW, Chris in Jun 10, 2022, when you shot this video, I can clearly see the runway is Chollas Flyers here in San Diego. Where you at Chollas Flyers here just for this flight, or are you a member? The reason I ask is because I am member at this flying club and have been flying at Chollas since 2000!

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cool, thanks! We were just at chollas for the day checking out the field. Was a good time and there was talk of the runway getting fixed up. Did that end up happening?

    • @davidgerlach1132
      @davidgerlach1132 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Thercgeek Very nice. ...(I'm probably preaching to the quire) It's the never-ending talk with our Prez about re-surfacing our "paved roller coaster" runway. It's an old soar issue with this 300' x 40' runway, always landing and taking off with a huge abundance of caution then let it rip. The great thing about Chollas is the virtually unlimited flying area and 400' elevation is more than enough.
      BTW - I'm going to maiden my new E-flight Viper 70mm there with Justin Coe ( CoeShow619 ) he's kind of our Defacto Mascot at Chollas and fly's (operate) anything that requires a radio controller.

    • @davidgerlach1132
      @davidgerlach1132 ปีที่แล้ว

      News flash. It's a new day. I started to assemble my brand-new Viper late last evening. The stabilizer, rudder tuck and fish the wires through neatly. Then it was late call it a night and, in the morning, continue with the rat's nest in the fuselage and seal that up.
      So, first thing I did this morning is go into my garage to the plane on my workbench, carefully turn it over on its stand and the rudder and stab smacked the end of the workbench and cracked the fasteners of the complete tail assembly. Now the little plastic collar (with copper threaded inserts) is sheared off. I have to take some blame, I probably over tightened and it's a rookie mistake. So, I suppose can either glue the entire tail assembly together (old school) or send a support request to HH.
      Murphy's Bummer!

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, I don’t know anything about India I’m afraid to say. Are there any dedicated rc fields and/or clubs there that you can get connected with there? That’s usually a great way to get introduced to the hobby and rc flying.

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  ปีที่แล้ว

      The image you're referencing that is in the video is from their gyro manual. I am using a spektrum AR8360T receiver in the model and what I'm describing while showing that image is what is required to use the spektrum receiver. If you're using a futaba receiver, then you can use the sbus line instead.
