  • The CFP is staying on ESPN for the next six years, but why haven’t we finalized the 5 + 7 model - McElroy will explain. Plus one fair statement for each SEC team - why Alabama’s offense will be under a microscope, why Georgia’s defense will dominate again and how the pressure Texas, Missouri, Tennessee and Florida are under might make or break a fan base's trust.
    0:00 Intro
2:00 ESPN holds on CFP contract for 6 years
6:30 The 5 + 7 model will happen this year
10:00 Why Washington St and Oregon State are blocking everything
16:45 Why it’s fair to give 1 statement for each team
18:00 Alabama’s offense will be under the microscope
20:45 Arkansas’ offense will be pretty good
23:40 Auburn WR might be a strength
25:00 Florida must weather the storm
28:00 Georgia is going to get back to dominating defense
31:00 Brock Vandagriff needs to be the answer for Kentucky
33:20 LSU needs a defense to step up
35:45 Lebby has some of the pieces to run his offense at MSST, but not all of them
37:20 Missouri needs to prove 2023 was a fluke
39:45 Oklahoma has to prove they belong among the SEC elite
41:40 We will know the ceiling for Ole Miss under Kiffin
43:45 South Carolina’s depth will be tested
45:50 Nico Iamaleava is the QB that Heupel needs
48:00 Texas will be under more pressure because they are in the SEC
50:00 Texas A&M has the pieces, but consistency will be tested
52:20 Vanderbilt will try hard - will it matter

I don't care if there are 12 or 16 or 24 teams as long as there's no selection committee. Every playoff spot needs to be earned. The problem that D1 college football has had for a long time is that it's always been a beauty contest. Pollsters, writers, coaches, appointed officials, etc., CHOOOSE who get's the privilege to play for the title. Almost every level of football, from pee wee to high school, to the pros, have a true legitimate playoff system, except for Division 1; because of the money. So I don't care if there are 4, or 12, or 16, or 24 teams, in the CFP; as long as it's earned and decided on the field. It can be done...it's a matter of will.

Power 2 and the other 8 is a bit of a stretch. ACC and Big 12 are still far and away better than the other 6. It’s somewhat of a tier list now of 1: SEC/Big Ten, 2: ACC/Big 12/Notre Dame, 3: AAC/MWC, 4: Sun Belt/MAC/C-USA/Ind. and tbh the SEC is still bounds better than the Big Ten. There are 8 legit top 15 teams in the SEC. And 2 top 25 teams outside that imo. The Big Ten still has the same problem they always had. It’s just 1 more team. What used to be the big 3 is now the big 4. OSU, UM, PSU, and Oregon. Now you’ve added Washington and USC to bolster the middle and I think MSU made a phenomenal higher and a great QB choice. I think they bump back up into the middle ground. But after those 7… it’s 11 pretty abysmal teams. And it’s been made clear when the top teams from the rest look good in conference play but then get blown out 63-7 (Purdue) or 35-0 (Iowa) to an SEC team that is pretty even in their respective conference. LSU being 4th in ‘22 and Tennessee being 6th in ‘23. The SEC also recruits at a significantly higher level throughout. What is currently the 11th and 12th best team in the SEC next year, Auburn and Florida, are riddled with blue chips and 5-stars. 12/16 of the SEC teams have gotten at least one 5-star the past 2 cycles and most have gotten multiple. One of the 4 that hasn’t looks primed to lock one down in 25. That’s the difference. The middle and bottom of the Big Ten doesn’t recruit or perform remotely on the level of the SEC. And the top doesn’t perform on the level of the SEC either.

    • @everettfamilyranch4180
      @everettfamilyranch4180 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

The only thing I would push back on is the ACC and Big 12 being on the same tier. Big 12 too to bottom is way better than ACC. The ACC should be added to group of 5 to make it group of 6. Miami has been in the ACC and have never won the conference. Big brand name but has done nothing there. The ACC every year has to many middle of the pact teams and bottom feeders with usually only 1 team being really good. When Clemson was rolling there was no real conference challenger, when FSU was rolling the same thing, and then they add SMU Stanford and Cal all bottom feeders.

Go back and look at the ranking of the teams OU played and Beat in the 2000 season. That was a tough streak! Oklahoma has always played top notch teams. When the Sec was down the Big 8/12 was crushing it with Colorado, Nebraska , mizzou, Texas, Texas aTm , k state . Not to mention OU has scheduled non conference games with the likes of Tenn, Alabama,Ohio state, Notre Dame, so don’t act like the SEC has always been the big dog. OU has a winning record vs the SEC life time! Yes they have lost some big games and some nattys. But OU has won 7 national titles. They have never ran from anyone. Not gonna start now. This is what OU is and has always been minus some down time in the 90’s. Remember the three over time game against Georgia! OU should have won that game. They did not. I’m not saying OU will just run the conference like they have the big 8 and big 12. But what I know is this university knows winning football. We are not atm , mizzou, or Nebraska! We are OU! Home of seven nattys! So please stop acting like OU is going to walk into the SEC bright eyed and bushy tailed! We don’t have to prove we belong ! History says we do! There’s a simple solution. Find a political advisor to explain a solution 😅

McElroy: There is no Bama bias...
Also McElroy: Bama isnt in trouble. Losing the goat of coaches and 2 assistants and half the roster isnt a problem. Also Jalen Milroe will be fine. Not only fine but will be elite in an offensive scheme that is night and day from the one last year. It doesnt matter that his skill set doesnt fit with what Deboer does...
The denial that he along with every Bama fan is just hilarious 😂😂😂. Bama might win 8 or 9 games and this spoiled fan base will be wanting to fire the guy for doing a good job. Just hilarious.

As a University of Southern California fan, the hype on the SEC is nonsense! OU & Texas will do better than fine! Texas A&M have been shooting them selves in the foot and have been doing just fine and they were a middle of the road BIG XII team, so so quiet the hype! The SEC needs to start traveling the country if they’re that good!
