Blackstone Jr. was the quintessential magician on TV in the 70's and 80's. He had the look, the stage presence, and that fantastic FM radio voice. I had seen movies of his dad and several of the others from the 40's and 50's, but was really impressed by him and another magician named Mark Wilson.
Walter zaney Blaney , The creator of the levitation ladder trick, use to do the vanishing Bird cage ,trick repeatedly, of course the bird cage is collapsible ,And is pulled in to the back of the coat by a retractable line, but it is the using the children to shield the cage ,rather than putting a clothe over it ,is what sells the whole gimmick 🤔🙊🙉🙈😂😂
I saw him perform here in Los Angeles in the 70's. I was one of the kids that got to go up for the birdcage trick. There weren't as many kids as are here - I remember feeling like my hand was on the cage and then in a second it was gone. I didn't see where it went but thus began my fascination with magic.
@@theforgottenbrawlers That's my guess too. When he comes out, he keeps the cage in front of him and doesn't move it around. My guess is that there's kinda like a pulley system in his jacket that when he spreads his arms, it pulls on the string and pulls the cage parts up his sleeves.
This is the trick the movie "the prestige"was based on. Its a simple but highly effective trick because the audience holds the cage but cannot stop it from disappearing..
That is the first time I have seen him do the disappearing birdcage trick without volunteers holding the sides of the cage. And I still don’t know how he does that.
Im the same age as these children, I'm 44 now. I remember when we didn't have loads of immigrants, and the UK was a wonderful place to live. If you let the 3rd world in, you become the 3rd world.

What do you mean? I'm interested!! I don't like people giving lies so please don't lie and say "it's magic" or "I can't tell you anything about how it's done" (You can't or you don't want to?) Also, did you sign a contract via the magicians code? If you did, that's still not an excuse because if you think about it, a contract is an inked piece of paper. Not just a contract. I love the mystery of faith (God and Jesus to be exact.) So, why don't we as people think the world treats wonder as just Tricks and illusions, and focusing on something greater like Unconditional Love instead of wanting to know how tricks and illusions are done because at the end of the day, people like yourself probably won't tell me how the tricks are done! Thank You and may God and Jesus bless you all.
Things were different in 1987: Girl puts hand on Harry's "Aahh, that's nice" - I'm pretty sure that would be considered super-creepy today. Also, "No, the clean hand!"- Really, Harry!?? Other than those cringeworthy moments, a good performance.

He got a help from demons. See vaticancatholic.com and documentary about "Magicians".

@@livonia1807 Is that where it went!?!? New plot for a movie titled The Birdcage!
Saw this cage on Pawn Stars and in closeups it is constructed to be collapsable. Pretty cool and simple but effective.
I saw that . But its till cool how the trick works.
but where does the cage goes? into his sleeve? if so, then he must have some strings pulling on the cage ?

I'll bet he couldn't just hold it in his left hand. Cage attached to elastic, it collapses and probably goes to his upper arm.
