This is the best ROTJ ending. Got rid of the horrible "Yub Nub" and replaced it with the beautiful, emotional "Victory Celebration" by the great John Williams. Added the planets celebrating. Showing the statue of the Emperor get toppled on Coruscant was a beautiful touch. This was the last version with Sebastian Shaw as Anakin. The movie is called Return of the Jedi for a reason. When the Emperor is destroyed, Vader is destroyed and Anakin, the jedi, returns. He died a jedi. That's what he would've looked like if he'd not been deformed. This is the true end of the Skywalker Saga.

I agree. Even as a prequel fanboy anakin shill. I dont like how his force ghost is depicted as anakin before he fell to the dark. His ghost should reflect the sacrifice and horror from his redemption
Sebastian Shaw's Anakin shows more emotion here I think. Like a sense of pride, being proud of his children bringing peace and freedom to the galaxy. No offense to Hayden, but he just looked awkward and wasn't really looking at them.
That’s because Hayden didn’t actually film the scene. George Lucas digitally replaced Sebastian Shaw’s head with Hayden’s head and slimmed down the shoulders.
Zac Mumblethunder I mean in that regard it’s not different when he saw Sebastian Shaw. I mean the only way for Luke to now would be to see a burned up and pale man.
No. While Shaw looks at Luke with love while Hayden merely looks at Luke with gratitude, casting Sebastian Shaw as Anakin was probably an even bigger mistake than scrapping the Wookiee slave uprising in favour of Ewoks. Because it makes absolutely no sense to cast an actor who was a decade older than Alec Guinness, to play a character who is supposed to be significantly younger than Obi-Wan. And while Anakin's age was never mentioned in the OT, it was explicitly stated by Obi-Wan in ANH that the man who became Darth Vader was "a young Jedi". Besides, no one wants Anakin to be an elderly fat man. Just like replacing Clive Revill with Ian McDiarmid as Palpatine's hologram in Episode V, replacing Sebastian Shaw with Hayden Christensen is an improvement.

So nice ☺️ And so terrible to think of the Sequel trilogy just completely ruining this win 🤦🏻♂️ And basically just going "nope... the original trilogy achieved nothing lol. The Empire is back."
Honestly? I like Lucas’ ideas for the sequels better. They take place a few years after Return of the Jedi, and has Darth Maul returning as the new Emperor, with a female apprentice named Darth Talon, who’s the new Vader. As for Maul’s legs being sliced off, I think they should make it where they are robotic, and have a multitude of technologies within them (i.e rocket boots (it sounds cheesy ik)). As for the heroes, Leia and Luke are trying to redeem the Skywalker name. Leia is trying to rebuild the Republic, and as for Luke, he’s trying to restart the Jedi. And also, we establish that there is an underworld where serval remaining Stormtroopers are starting up their own planets. Talon would have most of the action onscreen, and by killing Maul, we have defeated the last thing that is connected to Palpatine once and for all. Now, I think this would have been SO good for a series conclusion... But instead, We got this: “Somehow, Palpatine returned.” 😒
Just cannot believe that Star Wars Explained said on his city planet video that Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace was the first appearance of Coruscant in the films but it's actually the 1997 Special Edition version of Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi when they've added that planet alongside two already established planets Bespin and Tattooine to cater to Expanded Universe fans and to give moviegoers a sneak peak of one of the planets that would be featured in the Star Wars prequels which came out two years later after the 1997 special edition rerelease of the Original Star Wars Trilogy.
The Special Edition edits are a mixed bag Ti say the least. I personally think this is one of, if not, the best addition to the Special Editions. You see Galaxy celebrating the defeat of the Galactic Empire. Further adding to the impact of the Rebels victory. I also adore Victory Celebration. Yub Nub is good, but the new song just has that sense of finality that I feel Yub Nub lacked. I also think the choir suits the Sebastian Shaw ghost very well.
I thing that for Disney's Special Edition, Hayden Christensen has to be refilmed as Anakin's force ghost, because right now he has the same age that Vader had in OT

Anyone because 2020 has ended and we hit the new year
I am certain that this will be played often on 1-20-2021 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the best ending. the Victory celebration song is better than Yub Nub.. And with Sebastian Shaw. Nothing against Hayden Christenson but Luke is looking at his father, the redeemed Anakin Skywalker.
I wish they would’ve kept the old anakin and add the rest of the add ons for my Blu-ray version
You know why you're watching this clip ;)
Even though I like the yub nub song, the victory celebration theme sound a more triumphant and it is nice to see a bunch of other planets celebrate, as this wasn't just an local thing. The entire galaxy suffered under the empire and it is makes it more satisfying when you watch the prequels. I didnbot.like then idea of Hayden bring shown here and prefer Shaw to be here.
Hands down the best ending for all of Star Wars period; this is there the movies should have ended.
The movies did end here, I dunno what you're talking about~
So nice ☺️
And so terrible to think of the Sequel trilogy just completely ruining this win 🤦🏻♂️
And basically just going "nope... the original trilogy achieved nothing lol.
But instead,
We got this:
“Somehow, Palpatine returned.”
😒
thats how i felt when emergency act got voted out. FREEDOM!!!!!
Seeing Sebastian Shaw before watching the 2004 Rotj felt like the theri in dominion this year
22 years later: "Somehow Palpatine returned"...
In 0:34 you can see a stormtrooper being attcked by people 💀
OH SHIT😂
Good Catch!
With a Wilhelm scream!
Damn I never noticed that lol
2020 has finally ended

The Special Edition edits are a mixed bag Ti say the least. I personally think this is one of, if not, the best addition to the Special Editions. You see Galaxy celebrating the defeat of the Galactic Empire. Further adding to the impact of the Rebels victory. I also adore Victory Celebration. Yub Nub is good, but the new song just has that sense of finality that I feel Yub Nub lacked. I also think the choir suits the Sebastian Shaw ghost very well.
0:40 in releases after 1999, the building below the fireworks is replaced by the jedi temple
This is how I feel, as an American, on Nov 7th 2020. The 4 years are over...
I thing that for Disney's Special Edition, Hayden Christensen has to be refilmed as Anakin's force ghost, because right now he has the same age that Vader had in OT
CNN coverage of American Cities the morning of Nov 7th 2020
The only special edition that didn't have to have young anakin
Basically America right now
not really though.
Definitely the best version.
I like how Wedge has more screen time.
Wait a sec, they added in coruscant two years before the prequel movies, but not naboo? Wtf
Coruscant was already existing in all the expanded universe (books, video games ...) with a strong visual identity. Naboo was created for the prelogy.
Same with Utapau and Kashyyyk
Thrawn in the Unknown Regions: "lol let's see how you cheer for this!"
This is better than the 1983 version, but also better than the 2011 version. Its odd the original trilogy got modified in later years, but either way the 1997 i for sure the best. Cinematically. Good music, good extra scenes, no hayden christiansen, and overall good ending.

Better than Yub nub
Nah
@Malo Lnac nope
Alper Güzel
You’re just looking at it with rose-tinted glasses. Yub Nub fit fine when it was only one trilogy. But now, this is the conclusion to an entire saga, and the Victory Celebration reflects that much better.
@@shreklowski Yub Nub was awesome but Victory Celebration fits perfectly for an ending of a saga
