    I hope you get to manufacturing. They look great and I love the view from the seat. I think that makes you feel more in control when riding.

      I have trouble keeping it away from all the kids who think it looks cool too. Have a look at young Alex taking it around the skateboard track on TH-cam
      We are slowly getting parts made with the money we have

    the vids makes the trivek look like total fun

    • @alanpage
      @alanpage 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's very relaxing and comfortable because of the back support. Also because you are pedalling the axle of a wheel that you are also steering, you can steer with your feet. I often ride even in traffic with my arms folded. About as pleasurable a ride as you can get.

    Cool. I modded a mini bmx just recently with a mini drift trike front wheel and pedals so i can pedal the front wheel similarly. I have a video showing an earlier version but I now have shorter and straighter crank arms on the front (higher top speed) and a layback seatpost that is angled forward instead of back. This allows me to sit up higher and closer to the front wheel. I can now also ride it completely hands free with the front wheel/pedals but still have to use the handlebars for the standard back wheel pedals.

      That's interesting. Sorry I haven't replies earlier. Busy. We plan on doing a drift trike version of our trivek . Because it can lean will have a higher seat position and gears

    Nice trike -- I have built a few trikes and ridden many types over the years and now that I am older I prefer the higher more upright seat position - I love how the front drive is set up with the gear hub is external.
    The upright position will create a little more drag but it will also give better leg leverage - Drag on a bicycle of this type/speed for the target group they are aiming for is not performance oriented so a moot point. You would have to have a serious head wind to worry about it and a nice wind fairing could probably be mounted to counter that. I hope it does well.
    Cheers, Patrick

      +PATRICK MCKOWEN Hi Patrick, My name is Alan Page. I am the CEO of the company that makes the Trivek.
      Thanks for your positive comment. We are in R& D mode at the moment to improve the ride even further. We need to do the maths. to get the frame geometry spot on for maximum stability at all speeds. Everything you said is totally correct. Cheers Alan

      @alanpage 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      James WilkinsI must first point out I am an overweight elderly gentleman . I have been testing the trivek for two years under all conditions. Initially it took me a little time to master the trivek. I can ride on sidewalks in crowded
      conditions. I can go through bends at speed even when there is traffic around.. I can even carry a shopping bag of
      groceries on my back - in traffic. All this in perfect comfort. I am also in love. I have given up my recumbent trike
      that I could not easily get in and out of. Absolute freedom.

    Its a very nice concept I like it a lot. i noticed the brakes are on the back wheels only this is a good safety feature to compensate for the short wheel base.

    • @alanpage
      @alanpage 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** you are incorrect. If you look closely at the videos of it you will see it has a front brake . The two rearbrakes are connected to the same handlebar lever and are applied simultaneously. Applying braking to onlyone rear wheel would cause the machine to skid out. Thank you for the positive comments though . Iappreciate them. The short wheelbase gives it great manoeuverability in tight situations.

    can you get them in Canada ?

  • @Sylkis89
    @Sylkis89 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I want to buy one (given that I will be able to afford it), but I want it to have some kind of a body/fairing around (with mirrors and stuff) it to protect me from wind and weather. Hell, you should turn it into a tall velomobile as far as I am concerned, with a backup dynamo-charged electic engine to aid me when riding uphill and to power blinkers/indicators, etc. It would be perfect then.

    • @alanpage
      @alanpage 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Sylkis89 , It's taken a ton of effort just to get to the stage it is. We plan to initially sell them as a basic model to test the market first but offering a discount on accessories to first buyers when available. We are developing the electric motor for it now. We dont know exactly when they will be on the market but sooner than later we hope. Stay tuned. Alan Page CEO.

      I think I have answered you on other sites, however, we are pleased to announce we have just begun production of some of the specialised aluminium brackets and hubs for the new improved trivek. Stay in touch as more news will come to hand. The design has some mods done since we posted last. Thank you for your interest.

    Can it load on public transport as a wheelchair? DOT regulations. Without being taken apart?

    • @alanpage

      Yes it does fit into the wheelchair space on a train . I have also asked the train guards and it would be allowed

    terrific trike a must have does its design allow it to limited off-roading

    • @alanpage

      We are considering an off road version but that is down the track. Again thank you for your enthusiastic encouragement. It's comments like yours that keep us going.

      I can ride on gravel roads. I guess with fat tires it could be ridden on the beach but i haven't tried that yet.

    • @alanpage
      @alanpage 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      We may revisit Kickstarter Patrick but we are not sure how to commercialize it . We need some kind of guarantee that potential buyers will actually buy it in order to justify the cost of production. We may revisit Kickstarter now the product is more widely known.

    • @alanpage

    Lol, shows how well he goes by road perfect , and you 'll jump over bumps , climbing big hill , woods , and on how to carry it in a small car , I just do not want to talk . There is an expression , it is not necessary to invent a bicycle. =)

    • @alanpage
      @alanpage 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Afront Nelson depends what you want to do If you like comfort with back support and carry lots of shopping and want to rravel long distances without getting a sore back buy a trivek. If you want to go cross country and jump over things etc don't buy a trivek.

  • @myperspective5091

    How many did you make so far?

    • @alanpage
      @alanpage 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We made around 8 prototypes to get to the latest version, the green one . Each one was cannabilised for parts
      to make the next one. We have applied for a government grant to go into production. We are waiting on the
      results of the approval process.

    How fast can it go?

    • @alanpage
      @alanpage 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Mort Schubert Hi Mort, I have been clocked at over 30 kph The faster you go the more stable it becomes so I guess the answer is as fast as you can pedal it. The pre production prototype is a bit heavy at 22 kg. We should be able to knock off a third of that weight in full production which be happening soon. Cheers Alan Page CEO.

    what are the dimensions

    • @alanpage
      @alanpage 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +jean Scott Hi Jean, We are experimenting with different frame geometries prior to going into production. It won't be any longer than a normal bike and it will put the rider around 11" below the height of a normal bike. It is a couple of inches wider than a normal bike at its widest point { handlebars]. Hope that answers your question. Alan

    • @alanpage
      @alanpage 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      We need to work out exactly how we are going to commercialize this. There are several ways to go about this side of it but we haven't decided yet. It's been a fascinating but sometimes torturous path for us as well. More news to come so stay in contact.

    Seems to high. Center of gravity is high. Seating position may make it easier to be seen, but your not going to be very areo-dynamic. Doesn't seem like it would be a good bike for long rides to me.

    • @alanpage
      @alanpage 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      dbkguy depends what you want to do . I can go on long rides on it in perfect comfort. I can ride in safety in traffic. I can lean right over at speed through bends. You sit like you do in a car so its perfectly comfortable.The lie down type trikes I see have a flag so they can be seen. That's going to cause drag is it not?

  • @stevenewbauer225
    @stevenewbauer225 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would not care for that seating position ... too upright and legs and feet are down too low. That is not a recumbent position as far as I am concerned.
