    In this weeks video, join me as I go through my entire collection of hand-knit sweaters and make some tough decisions on which ones to declutter. It's time to evaluate which ones still bring me joy and which ones could find a new home. I'll share the stories behind my favorite sweaters, the patterns I used, and the challenges I faced while knitting them. From cozy winter warmers to delicate spring layers, my collection spans a wide range of styles and colors. As we dive into this decluttering journey, you'll get a closer look at the craftsmanship and love that went into each stitch.
    Decluttering isn't easy, especially when it involves handmade items filled with personal memories. Whether it's a matter of fit, style, or sentimental value, each sweater has a story, and I'm excited to share them with you. If you're a fellow knitter or someone who appreciates the art of knitting, this video is for you! Maybe you'll get inspired to tackle your own collection or start a new project. Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more knitting adventures, tips, and tutorials. Let's declutter together and make room for new creative endeavors!

    I adore these sweaters! I love that you are not afraid of colours. I know that style is very personal and I think there is generally no wrong way to make clothes but it's just so refreshing to see things knitted in other colors than just beige or cream. And it's also nice to see someone knit with Drops yarn.. after watching knitting podcasts, I often feel like I should buy better yarn but I simply can't afford that.

      You definitely don’t have to, but I’d recommend just going for it with knitting a sweater! It can always be unraveled. Obviously though, I’m totally biased. I’m so excited to start on my first crochet sweater though. Super nervous but also excited. 😆

    The sweater vest and the little sleeveless tops look the best, I believe, on your body type. Please make more of these for yourself. You deserve it. I agree that one sweater can be made into a t-shirt. I really like the pattern on the Stripy Affair sweater. I agree that the November jacket is less than ideal. I would frog it because whomever takes it will have the same problem. The sweater with the one striped sleeve is a great graphic design. I personally would not wear it with that sleeve shape and would fix that. The sweaters I loved the best were the Semper Slipover, Grace Sweater and the Stripy Affair. The first sweater I ever made shrunk in the wash (100% Germantown Wool) and I couldn't wear it. I gave it to some ladies who make mittens and slippers out of felted knits. I was told that my sweater was made into tall slipper socks. The sweater had an asymmetric button closure and the drapey collar was six inches wide and fell over the front and around the back. The collar formed the top cuffs of the slipper socks. I was so happy.

      I do have a dress I can wear it with, I’m just starting to get into dresses and I love really cropped tops with simple dresses!!

    Really liked this video!! Is cotton good for warmer weather?

      For sure! Cotton, linen, most plant-based fibers

    Hey, I have a question to your self drafted sewater with the Drops alpaca yarn: What needle sice did you use and what is the gauge? How much did it grow on you? I'm also knitting a sewater in this yarn and make the pattern up myself and I don't know how much it will grow in lenght 😅

    • @BreathingYarn
      @BreathingYarn  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have nothing written down about what needle size I used ☹️ I do remember it grew a fair amount though!

      Another knitting lover! I am not planning on starting a knitting business since my fingers are already struggling to keep up, but I’ll never say never.

    I have one knit sweater I made and it needs to be fixed, sleeves are too wide and too long lol. Also I have some crochet tops I need to frog because they’re summer tops that I stupidly made in acrylic so they’d be too freaking warm lol 🥵 I just havnt worked up the nerve to get those things done

    • @BreathingYarn
      @BreathingYarn  หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s so not easy to motivate to fix stuff you already finished! And acrylic in the summer is a lesson I learned the hard way 😂

    Any tips for making a neckline laying as flat as it does on the first (!) sweater you've made? I really enjoy watching your videos, you seem so sweet!

    • @BreathingYarn
      @BreathingYarn  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Totally! I string elastic string/cord through the collar and pull tight until it’s a tension I like, then tie it off. It’s a totally hidden way of making sure the collar always lays flat.

    • @BreathingYarn

      Harriet & Alice is the only yarn shop in Minnesota I’ve been to and it’s my favorite (not just by default, the ladies are so sweet and I like their selection)

    How long does your average top take to knit?

    • @BreathingYarn
      @BreathingYarn  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’ve actually never counted (time wise). I’d say 20-100 hours is a good range.

      @@BreathingYarnI love this video and you inspired me to frog my first completed sweater and cake it up to remake in a way I actually like! I started knitting 6 months ago and I’ve learned SO much from spending that time ignoring my crochet projects and just trying lots of knitting things. I’m obsessed with knitting my own 100% cotton socks rn. Your Polaroid rainbow-ish top inspired one of my T-sweaters that I wear like weekly. ❤
