True but I personally think the fruit he got now fits him much more than the Mera Mera No Mi.
If I remember Burgess was shown swimming during Dressrosa, so he probably didn't have it by then

The problem with Burgess having his powers during Dressrosa is that I clearly remember him saying that he would be the one to eat Aces`s fruit at the end of the Colosseum. So Burgess having the Buff fruit back then would note make much sense because of this reason alone.
I know this isn't what I believe because in the real world if you look up Blackbeard's lore he had several souls in the real world it's pretty interesting so I think in one piece that's why he can eat more than one fruit I don't think he can pass the power on to somebody what if he could give the ability for anybody to eat more than one devil fruit though just a thought

Usopp dueling Van Augur makes me think he will unlock future sight. A way to counter someone who can teleport is to know where they will go. Usopp most likely knows of the ability and is adept at observation seems like the perfect way for Oda to get Usopp end of series strength.
Without future sight there is no believable way that Usopp would defeat Augur.
What if Augur warp DF work like Minato, instead of Kunai its his Bullet, but 1 warp consume the mark bullet 😁✌

@@squilliamfancyson1080 Outside of the monster trio (and Jinbei), I generally don't really see any way for the straw hats to fight BB crew right now. Either all the other members get way stronger in the final arc, or they don't fight 1 on 1 but rather 1 strawhat and 1 readhair against 1 blackbeard member (like Usopp and Yasop vs Augur for example).
He could also just tire him out.
The sheer simplicity of these fruits makes me think they were thought of a long time ago. Maybe Oda was waiting to give them those DFs.

Yea, Burgess fruit the most boring.
I think people who complain about them being to simple are just spoiled. Most anime characters get like 2-5 different attacks. Meanwhile in one piece almost every relevant character has like 10 different attacks. Comes up with great and unique fruits. People need to remember Oda is a human who's been doing this for 25+ years. If he does simple fruits every now and again give him a break.
@@RocksD.Quebec They may not be as elaborate as the other fruits we have seen, but that does not make them bad or boring in my eyes. I merely agreed that Oda likely came up with them a long time ago. Sometimes abilities that are not as elaborate can be quite effective. A Swiss army knife is good to have but sometimes a sledgehammer works better. For Burgess for example, his power seems to fit him quite well.
I feel like Oda gave them such basic fruits so he can go crazy with weird applications. Can you imagine what a strong strong awakening does?

Well we also need to factor in what the upper level of such a power is. Obviously it can't be something as basic as just makes strong guy stronger without other applications. Can he focus it in different body parts or does his strength have a limit to it?

my Headcanon is that the Former owner of the Buff Buff Fruit was Wang Zhi, it would make sense that a person with the Superstrength Devil fruit could be a member of the Rocks crews, and it would explain why no pirate crew were able to Take Hachinosu as their territory before Blackbeard.
Wouldn't it also make sense that they all could use Haki ? The strongest members that is.

@@mikewehr7887 the rocky port incident (which is confirmed in a recent chapter to be on the island) and Blackbeard was made a yonko during the timeskip, so even IF (Not 100% confirmed as could throw buildings pre timeskip) that Burgess was Given the Devil Fruit During the timeskip, long before we see him in Dressora.

Franky has a mechsuit (Franky Shogun)
Franky is now in Egghead and has seen the Vegaforce 1 (A much bigger mech suit)
Sanjuan's df lets him become bigger than he is already, so he can effectively become a kaiju
i would love to see basically a kaiju fight

Van Augur's fruit has me really excited for the duel with Usopp.
With how far he can snipe, Usopp not only has to land his shots, which he can easily do, he has to do it fast and locate an enemy who can jump anywhere within like a kilometer radius even faster.

usopp will probably unlook future sight observation haki and fire one shot in preparation to take down augnur because he saw where he would teleport to at a certain time during the battle and by that taking him out

Auger's power is probably limited by sight. He was shown to have a very good vision. Now the awakening might let him teleport to places he's been. But I don't think the BB crew will have most of their fruits awakened

I don't know, we'll have to see how Oda justifies him awakening fruits he has had for only two-three years.
Whats stopping him from teleporting people into the ocean?
If it's about awakening, I'd think the awakening is teleporting stuff that ISN'T yourself.
Because most warping abilities are about yourself. You can only take the stuff with you that you touch or that's on you.
So teleporting Burgess somewhere else WITHOUT following, would violate those basic tp rules and thus require an awakening.
But there are tons of rules surrounding any kind of teleportation, so we'll have to see what Oda decides on in the end.

About time when Burges got his fruit:
I would assume that, being inspired by Aces fight with his boss he went to Dreserossa to get Flame-flame fruit for himself but after beat down from Sabo who ate fruit he was to weak to capture and bring him to Blackbeard for power transfer, so he just got back and asked boss to get him some devil fruit that would make him simply stronger
I’m still amazed we haven’t seen a person die from eating two Devil fruits cause honestly if I knew a fruit gave me magic powers my first thought would to find another, and see what else I could do. Wano would have been the perfect place with so many people starving any food would have been fair game.
If it's well-known that you die if you eat two, it's not surprising that most people don't try.
And it's not easy to get the DFs to test that with people. The only ones that can afford that are mostly just the CDs, and probably the Yonkou.
I guess the Yonkou would know and have eaten more than one fruit if it was possible.
I know ppl credit Oda for having stuff planned out years ahead and alot of times i feel like its just a coincidence. But in this case Oda definitely had these DFs planned from the beginning. They fit each character perfectly.

Definitely think Burgess with his power referencing Sumo, my guess would be that his power goes more like "He can lift and throw anything in his grasp". Which doesn't sound like much until you realize it IS literally everything. And is why he can just chuck a mountain with ease.

Law could have run into the blackbeard crew during the rocky port incident and see that they didn't have DFs at the time
The idea of Death (Doc Q) on his pale horse (Stronger) makes a lot of sense. I used to wonder if Stronger could be a reference to pirate legends from the East coast of the U.S., where pirates would put a lantern around the head of an old horse and use it to trick ships into running aground, but this makes more sense.

Judging by the way he was talking in the chapter, I'd guess Burgess just got this Devil Fruit. Also, my guess is that Pizarro has a Lion Zoan Devil Fruit. Because in One Piece Green, Oda mentioned that in his original notes he planned for there to be a character on Blackbeard's crew named 'King Lion' or something like that.

I really like the buff buff fruit, being able to throw a mountain just casually is so cool and gives a crazy sense of how freak show strong burgess is, franky or Jimbei are gonna feel every punch from this man
I agree that. Tekking said that it is most likely that BBs crew chooses the df that fit the crew member the best. Now I wonder how his strength fruit and the fire fruit are supposedly both an equivalent for him

Could Van Auger shoot a bullet at someone, warp it, and hit someone he wasn't aiming at? Imagine he's aiming at Usopp, fires his gun, and just as the bullet is about to reach Usopp, it warps to hit Zoro. (Or anybody else). We'd need to see more of how his fruit works, but if he can pull off stunts like that...
as of now, Van Augur can warp himself and needs to touch others to warp them.
so it seems he can't do it right now, may be as he become better at using his df, he could do it.

So here’s a fun idea for Auger’s fruit. We know that some DF powers can be combined with Haki to make the more effective. For instance, Enel was able to enhance his Observation Haki (Mantra) with his Rumble-Rumble Fruit to basically “hear” everything that was happening on Angel Island at all times. As well, he could use this enhanced Observation Haki to aim his lightning strikes to hit anyone from anywhere, such as when he blasted Conis’s dad.
So, what if Auger can do something similar? Burgess has Armament Haki now, so what if Auger has Observation Haki? Now, Observation Haki doesn’t 100% work the same way for everyone. At a basic level, like what Usopp has, a person can “see” a specific target from a long distance away. Burgess can already do that with his scope, so I’m going to assume his Observation Haki is more developed or advanced than the basics. Speaking of advanced Observation Haki: Katakuri and Luffy can “see” a few seconds into the future. Issho can sense his surroundings (like Daredevil) and even the emotions of people (something Queen Otohime was also able to do). So taking a creative liberty, I’m imaging that Auger has a “circle” of Observation Haki around him, maybe a ten foot radius. So, he knows exactly what’s in his circle at all times, and can combine this with his fruit to “instantly” teleport himself or objects (assuming his power works on inanimate objects) to any spot in his circle. Like, imagine Usopp has a straight line of sight kill shot. He fires, and the shot speeds towards Auger’s head. Then, at the literal last moment, Auger teleports himself an inch out of the spot where the shot would’ve hit him.
Observation haki plus Warp-warp fruit sounds like a perfect combo to me. I think the biggest factors IMO that decide how good the ability would be in combat would be how frequently can it be used, and can it be used to teleport targets that are far away to the user (For example: could Van Auger teleport Burgess back to the ship now that he is on the island?).
Imagine usopp developing future sight out of necessity to hit Van Auger where he’s going to teleport
He probably needs to touch what he wants to warp, and possibly the awakening is teleporting things he can see, but people with strong haki can negate it

In a way these fruits all seem like the superior versions of past fruits
Burgess's Fruit: Superior to Urouge since the increase in strength is immediate, a heck of a lot larger and doesn't require taking damage.
Doc Q: Basically Ivankov's Hormo Hormo Fruit powers only more wide spread and doesn't seemingly require the user make contact.
Auger: His Warping power is seemingly superior to Law's as Law's power is limited to his Room which while it is huge still has a limit to it.
doc q’s is more than just Ivankov’s devil fruit, just one of it diseases it can give out can change the gender of someone where Ivankov’s main thing is hormone changes
Doc Q’s fruit is the only new fruit that is not extremely simple.

I think a limitation of the teransportation fruit is how much you can use it. Like for every mile you teletransport u need to wait a second. So if he tp 5 miles away, he cant tp immediately after.
Until we see it in action i assume that Van Augur uses his fruit simillarly to Lilie Barro's Schrift

I think "simple" is the keyword for the blackbeard pirates Oda uses, I think it is the point he is going for.
On the one side we have these really basic combination like give Burgess the standard strong guy a fruit that makes him even stronger
- give Van Auger the sniper the ability to snipe even better
- he literary gave o horse the ability to be a better horse / pegasus
-give the doctor a fruit that gives him the ability to give others diseases like a bad/mad doctor
-give the sword fighter who stealthes behind the enemy the ability to stealth better
-etc. you get what i mean
Meanwhile we have on the otherside all the "creative" powers
- a normal person who has a body made out of rubber / now cartoon abilites
- a swordsman who uses threesword style with one sword in his mouth
- a cook who only fights with his legs
- a sniper who uses only a slingshot and plants
- a navigator who controls the weather with a stick
- a doctor who is a reindeer and a human at the same time
- etc.
I think this is the idea between the blackbeard pirates and the strawhat pirates:
It is creative freedom against bland/ calculated freedom like Oda said the core idea of freedom of Luffy and Blackbeard are the same because they both have the will of D. but that is the thing that makes them diffrent.
In DnD terms it like the min maxer (Blackbeard) vs the "crazy" player (Luffy) who thinks a sorcerer using only his dagger without using much magic that sound like fun.
It is both the right way to play but it seams like the min maxer is the stonger person of them both, but what Oda is maybe going for is that the min maxer/ Blackbeard is to much tunnel visoned on his way and get beaten by the "crazy person" / luffy who uses his creativity and all the funny / stupid / whatever ideas to beat him. Thats at least what I belive is going to happen and that why I think Oda gave them these Devil Fruits that seam very bland.

cool theory I would also say in general the strawhat power came from training and seem to have a pretty high ceiling and some of them started really weak, but like you said what the blackbeard pirates seems to have would be very strong and useful fruits from the get go but with a lower skill ceiling,

Depending on the rules on the Teleportation fruit Van Augur is a scary powerful scout. Drop your colleague off, say for example Aokiji at Big Mom's, then tell them to meet back up in 8 hours (assuming there's some significant stamina loss by jumping across the world), and there you go intel gathering and asset collection super easy.
I would believe that Burges got the Buff Buff fruit after Dresrosa because during the brief introduction of Blackbeard at the Colosseum, Blackbeard hints at Burges winning the Mera Mera no Mi and it was meant for him.
But yeah I agree with you that he was already terrifying before.
i think burgess just got it. cuz like why’s he bragging and saying, “the buff-buff fruit power is so amazing.” the bragging gives me the impression that he’s enjoying a new found fruit. it would be weird that he has it all this time and he’s praising it right now and not back in dressrosa
Late but my ideas of awakenings (at least the ones I have an idea)
Shiryu: the ability to make something transparent at the point of no existence, like until he makes something visible someone can walk through it
Van augur: warp between dimensions, like kamui
Doc q: the ability to translate sickness into physical traumas, like tumors, Embolism, or even radioactivity

Likelihood is Law will survive and probably pressganged into joining Blackbeard's crew much like he did with Moria, but will likely require his crew being tortured. Now this being Oda and One Piece there is only one form of torture I can see befitting Law and the Heart Pirates: Amber Lead Syndrome. Imagine Law being held down by Blackbeard while Doc Q. infects the rest with the disease and being forced to watch as white patches begin to form on their skin while the pain racks their bodies knowing the only chance he will have to save them being to join up with Blackbeard.
Danm! BB could also force law in giving him "eternal youth" this way. Same as doflamingo wanted.

I headcanon'd an ability for Van Auger for fun back in ancient times when we first heard the BB crew was searching for DFs. It was the "Swapu Swapu no mi" essentially a less limited version of Law's switching teleportation. I envisioned him being able to touch targets and swap positions with them, ie shoot a bullet and swap to its location. I like Oda's more direct approach tbh but just thought it was neat how it's related to a less limited version of something Law can already do lol

What if Blackbeard knows that devil fruits only reincarnate through specific fruits and they just have those fruits on hand when they get ready to steal the powers of another devil fruit users
I think devil fruits are special haki manifiested as fruits born from people obsession with an element/animal/object.
Ex:someone who wants to free and make everyone smile due to his extreme dedication after his death his haki incarnated as a fruit that grants special power.
Kinda like hatsu from hxh.

A common ability of the Pegasus is to freely travel between the worlds of the living and the dead, so it can lend itself further into the 4 horseman and very likely use the ice soul powers that Brook has access to. This also works fairly well with the original gag with the two characters where both ended up being passed out in a moment's notice when they are being engaged with and has to go out of their way to wake up the other. Stronger could in theory take it a step further and possibly save Doc Q from dying. We don't know how far Oda will want to push that connection.
I doubt the Buff-Buff fruit will be simply he's stronger now, and even that's the case I feel like he just got it and is already picking up mountains. I can see him doing some Toguro style air bullets and tanking hits like nothing.
My guess for Lafette is that he has the Bird Bird fruit mythical variant model Harpy.

I think Augur will probably be able to teleport to a location that he either has been before or that's in his sight. And for teleporting others, I'd say it's probably gonna be a willing person he can see.

Burgis definitely didn't have his fruit during the Dressrosa arc because he went into the water during the final round of the tournament and was just fine

@@rowanhughes8724 No. Any water in general will nullify your devil fruit and make you super weak. As long as you are submerged enough in any water, you can't use your devil fruit power and you basically become immobile and/or pass out.

The Blackbeard Pirates have a very stacked amount of abilities on hand right now. Teleportation, Diseases, Invisibility, Ice, Shape-shifting, flight, gigantification, shockwaves, and "darkness". it seems like each fruit is meant to play a very specific role in some sort of grand design that only BB knows at this point, as BB is seeking out these fruits and possibly assigning each one to a specific commander who will play a specific role, almost like spec-ing out a party in an RPG. I also agree with the idea of Kaido's words being some very strong foreshadowing to how the strawhats will defeat the blackbeard pirates, that Haki will be the final deciding factor

Anyone saying Jesus Burgess's DF is boring just doesn't know how to think deeper than the surface and doesn't understand Oda in the least bit.
The fact that the BB crew are so specific to which DF they acquire and consume specifically to capitalize their already existing personal strengths to fortify the pursuit of their end goals is precisely what makes BB so incredibly dangerous.
BB is a researcher, a historian, an incredibly smart tactician. His smarts alone are what brought him and his crew this far.
Remember that one scene when before Skypia the straw hats got surprised by that bird dropping on their ship? Maybe he used the teleportation ability to send the bullet further because it would take vegapunk level of technology on that gun to make a bullet reach that distance. Sure we got observation haki to see the target but the gun and bullets do have limits.
To me the warp-warp fruit is probably similar to Nightcrawler's power from X-men. Not necessarily in the sense of traveling through an alternate dimension, although that would be awesome and almost give it merit to being a stronger mirror-mirror fruit. But rather it's probably a combination of he needs to see where he's teleporting to or have a familiarity with the location that he's teleporting to. It would also be able to keep the momentum of any object or person he teleports, so rather than him teleporting to different places while shooting he remains stationary and can teleport his shots to appear from different directions.

On the part about Perseus, Atlas and Hercules: Hercules and Perseus (beyond both being sons of Zeus) they are related. Perseus is Hercules ancestor because Perseus and Andromeda are the parents of Electryon, and he is the father of Alcmene, who is the mother of Hercules. So, Zeus was with his own great-granddaughter, which, let's be honest, if she was hot is TOTALLY something he would do.
It’s probably after Dressrosa that Burgess got the fruit. I’m pretty sure Burgess was aiming to get the Flame Flame Fruit, and to add to that, it’s possible Law fought Burgess at the Rocky Port incident. Although it’s speculative, Law really makes it feel like these powers are recent.

You went over pretty extensively Van Auger and long range scenerios, but what about short range utility as a Sniper. The average person on flat ground can see over a mile. So within a mile Van Auger can not only teleport around instantly and fire from any direction, fire and teleport back out of range of anyone else... But he can also teleport his bullets now as well to come from any direction. Or shit he can even teleport others, into the path of his shots. With a long distance weapon and the ability to not only teleport yourself but anything else, this shit is terrifying.
For van auger if you've ever seen the movie jumper my guess is his teleport is like that he has to see where he wants to teleport to
In pop culture the only way to beat a sniper is to find their location and then corner them...Van Auger is now immune to that weakness.
He is a sniper you can never reach.
Remember on fishman island how Usopp was able to not just predict where his target would go but he manipulated his target to go into his pre-laid trap....
I think Usopp will do something similar with Van Auger and will be one of the only non-yonko level people in the world that will be capable of defeating Van-Auger.
Usopp will have Aizen level "just as planned" moment.

Law ran into BB during the Rocky Port Incident. (WHICH WAS ABOUT 1 YEAR AGO??) I believe BB even crypticaly mentions this in this chapter when he says to Law "its been quite some time since we last met". Well I don't think ot was ever shown or even mentioned tof them meeting before, certainly I don't believe they did pre-timeskip, unless oda just never mentioned it before now. Some may think BB was referring to them both being at Marineford during the Paramount war, but they never could've even seen each other.

I hope van Augr teleports his bullets just before they leave the barrel of his gun. So his enemys don't know from where the bullets are coming. They are literally spawning in front of them. Would love that so much
I'd like to think that Van Auger's power at base is sight reliant. However a recall feature would be a reasonable power up, which could work almost like a log pose and able lock onto an island's magnetic field after spending a day or so on the island.

Van Auger can easily get a good positioning as well in combat. Non ranged fighters would need to get close to him but he can just teleport away.
I think the Warp Fruit is either limited to the users senses, including Haki, or to a fixed radius, perhaps increasable by training.
