    These 2.2dci's only usually in the xtrail application were notorious for - pump suction control valves ( or metering valve) failing or sticking - the diesel knock always gives them away, injectors failing and leaking back , timing chain stretch giving correlation codes, burst intercoolers, egr valves and blocked dpfs on the very late ones like that in the video. Turbo seals and the engine grenading were also fairly common. So much trouble that we wouldn't take them as part exchanges. I suspect this one will be back to luis, or be put back in the auction. They never run right for long, especially once having a problem. As this one has stressed the injectors running overly high rail pressure they will be on borrowed time. The sump oil will be diesel dilution from it trying to continuously regenerate the dpf whilst running rail pressure too high, the excess soot being caused by..yes you've guessed it. Send it back to owner and suggest he moves it on.

    You make this look easy but it isn't.
    First was spotting the injector noise and realising fuel pressure must be too high, then straight to the pressure sensor since the closed loop wasn't working. Then knowing it was a "stored" limp mode and how to clear it. Excellent !

    Every time I get a Nissan with a chain driven engine, MIL on and no idle I get a stomach ache. I am the " lucky one " . Always a stretched chain. X-trail, Navara, Pathfinder it´s always the same. P0340. And I not even like to do the repair. Well, it´s lucky Luis this time. Smart reasoning though. Clearing the lean on the pump did the trick with the power loss. Good one Luis.

    Hi this is a great video I'm battling with a high fuel pressure problem myself. The vehicle had an engine fire that damaged some of the wires including the wire to the fuel rail pressure sensor. Now after fixing all the problems with the engine and replacing damaged wires and plugs I have a permanent high pressure rail problem even when I disconnect the plug. The engine starts momentarily like this one and dies however it will not Rev also dies with smell of unhurt fuel. I now suspect maybe the ecu was damaged when the wires burnt and shorted do you think this is a pluasable diagnosis given the pressure will not change even when unplugged. I have checked the plug and voltage seems OK at terminal. I have also checked the wiring again to ensure it's all to correct points on plug. One would expect pressure and voltage to drop when unplugged but they don't move . Fault high rail pressure is detected amongst many others which are not relevant at this stage. Could you advise before I pull the ecu and send for testing?

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi
      It is plausible indeed...
      I would probably scope the sensor to ensure the sensor is working and sending the correct voltage to the ecu... testing at the ecu plug... to also rule out any wiring issue on that circuit... if proved the sensor is good, indeed the ecu might be at fault...
      👍👍👍

    • @coadyg
      @coadyg 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LMAutoRepairs Hi Thanks appreciate the feedback unfortunately I don't have a scope but at this stage I have a later model ranger which I am doing comparison to and at this stage as soon as I unplug the sensor on the good ranger voltage drops to zero and so does the pressure which is what I would expect on the defective one it remains the same. I will back probe at the ecu to see what comparative voltages I am getting. At this stage it all checks out at the sensor plug side I thought I might have wired it incorrectly but it all seems ok. It seems I heading in the right direction towards the ecu so will look at that next. Thanks again for the input much appreciated. watched a few of your videos you doing a great job thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience.

    great video as all ways 👍can you remember I asked you about a Bipper with a fuel circuit foult after a engine change you where right a mix up with the sensor plugs but it still wouldn't start every trick was tried the engine supplier suggested dragging it but with it having a cam chain and oil tensioner 😞I've been told never to do that but he was willing to still warranty it and it started first try 🙈🙉🙊😉

    It is a Nissan and they are prone to being junk. Injector tips fail and fill the oil with diesel. Sometimes you can't even smell it. How easy was it to get to the plug with the intercooler still on. Looks like the plug has been off for a while, especially with the re-learn curing the power issue combined with the oil level. Who knows 👍
