For several months I’ve been unable to pick up a brush, or any art tool to even scribble on a piece of paper. Then the other day I went to my kitchen and created something with watercolors and salt… basically prints of random patterns. I had so much fun and the joy in creating them was palpable and energized me. That’s what I want to feel when I paint, not the drudgery and fear that’s gotten into me to complete something to sell or be shown. Thank you, Louise… my painting costume is sometimes my pajamas!
@@Glorycarriers777 the salt causes the watercolors to bloom into various designs… it’s quite beautiful. Many vids out there on watercolor and salt application. ☺️
My art costume is always my pj's lol usually tye cheapest I can find(ugly clearance ones, 2nd hand mens pj's.. i ruined to many clothes when i dabbled with resin to work in anything else now lol, tho im debating makjbg some dungerees out of some 2nd hand store bought sheets lol)! Pj's for the win they are far more comfortable to be in than daytime clothes and who wants to make art when feeling constricted and bound by thier clothes! Oh and bra? What's that when I'm creating? 😂😂😂
Yes, I've been feeling the same way and haven't created anything since February. It almost feels like a chore that I keep putting off but now I'm feeling inspired because I know exactly what Louise is talking about!
I LOVE what you said at the beginning. LOL!! I think that all the time. I think, look at that artist with the pretty hair and outfit and overlooking beautiful outdoor areas, crystals and plants sitting around, everything in order. My studio is organized but looks more like a garage workshop. I tend to work in clothing that has holes and paint and don't fit. My hair is up. I get paint on me just walking in the room, it seems. I would look like you do in a video! Even when I teach in person, its the same. I love it. Your approach is very wonderful! Thanks for helping people be creative and being real!
I love how real and authentic you are! And I so agree about the artists who seem more keen of showing off themselves rather than their art - here's to you, to paint on hands, in hair and all over clothes. Love your work, thank you for sharing these wise words!
Wow Louise - you always have a way of saying the thing I need to hear the most..! Thank you for your wisdom! The impact and contribution you make to the art community is huge and you are admired, respected and appreciated to no end! Many thanks, Amrit x
I am a watercolorist. And I'm always learning. ALWAYS. And every single thing you have said resonates with me. All of it. Thank you so much for sharing your message. I have felt the same way as you My creative flow is highest when I am happy, stress free and my spirit is open. Many blessings to you.
C'est tellement vrai. En ce moment je veux tout intellectualiser, et je me perds, il n'y a plus de joie. L'amour et la joie de créer, c'est pourtant la structure énergétique de base du vivant 🎉 merci pour le rappel ❤😍🥰
Thank you - for putting yourself 'out there', for your honesty and for your insights. You are helping so many of us and I really appreciate you and all that you do. Carry on sweetie!
So many good things in this video about you, your perspective, your painting and painting in general. Thanks for taking time out of your exciting painting practice - love the phrase "hums with life" - to make the vid! Cheers!
Your message is so welcome and reenforces so much of what we already know but need to continue to let happen again and again--don't think too much and lean into the work happening in front right now! Thank you so much for your video and encouragement. I feel lighter having watched it.
Hello Louise, I am so sorry for your recent loss of a dear friend. Please accept my sincere condolences. I have listened to your podcasts from day one...thank you for all the encouragement you give to artists near, far and wide. All the very best of success in your Cumbrian adventure. Anne xx
Just wanted to say that although my mind keeps putting blocks in the way of me doing the free course, im pushing through them, my motto for the last 20years has been "Just do it, even if you have to do it afraid". It helps that you remind me so much, of my very first teacher as a young child that inspired my love of creating, not in your looks or accent but in the way your love of the creative process just shines through when you talk about art. Xx
Even though my art is writing and not painting, I thoroughly get doing things intuitively and not through overthinking. Playing with language and expression gets my writing to where I want it to be. Free-Flowing-Freedom (FFF) is the key. Thank you for your deep insights.
I love this. I can't wait to take your course. I've been blocked by the shoulds of my preceptions of what art should be. I need to shake loose and enjoy myself. Thanks so much for making yourself available!
I like your art and your approach to making art. I’ve learned a lot from you. I’ve taken your free course and really liked it. But most of all I love your authenticity! Thanx for sharing your art and yourself with us xx
Wow. Such a good message.i joined 2 art groups when I retired and have ended up creating pictures for exhibitions not because I want to. Great! Looking forward to taster
This abstract oil painting deeply touched me. It is not just a pile of colors, but also a flow of emotions. You cleverly conveyed your inner world through abstract brushstrokes, making people feel a resonance that transcends reality
Thank you for "just" being you. We ,love your enthusiasm, and your art. I've recently joined your Art Tribe & watching you & your processes has made a HUGE difference to me & my art. Looking forward to Find Your Joy.
I can totally understand this dilemma. I have to be feeling happy and free to make paintings that bring me joy. It's the forcing and trying to think too hard, i seem to make bad choices. No intentions or pre thought expectations. I can chose the paintings that I was immersed within in....and I feel alive. Thanks for this reality check😊 jo.
Hi Louise I'm watching from Bendigo Australia..I enjoyed this video and look forward to watching them all and learning from a down to earth wonderful artist and teacher. Thankyou for sharing
Louise, I loved the story about your special friend. I’m glad you and he spent time together on this temporary world. I started painting during Covid. I tried a few things but I really love abstract. I look forward to the teaser course! Have a great day…from Texas..,
It's been 2 years since I last took this course which has had such a positive impact on how I now approach not only art but many other things in life. Your wisdom, knowledge, honesty and generosity continue to guide me on my path to finding my own true voice. I can't wait to see what this next chapter brings! I'm looking forward to being a part of Find Your Joy again soon! Bev 🙂
I needed to see this today Louise. As I sit here afraid to lift the paints because I'm stuck in my head!! Thank you.... I''m away to play now. I can't wait for your course. And I LOVE that painting by the way. It definitely carries your energy x
I've already go too much on my plate but I'm going to try and do this short course too!! Thank you for offering it, Louise. Your art and enthusiasm is inspiring! I'm so glad we can do playbacks. Love your work.
I did your free course and it was just brilliant for me. I love painting, just the feel of putting paint on canvas. I don't much care if it's good. Would I love to paint a masterpiece? yes of course. Will it happen? most probably not 🤣🤣Doesn't matter. Your course gave me the freedom to just do it my way
I found myself nodding in agreement throughout your video. Yes, that's exactly how it is for me too, I just haven't been able to put it into words. Ps. I love your paintings!
Love this message! I made something I love yesterday-against my expectations. It was a still life assignment and I hate still lifes. But I tried a few things, and had fun and I LOVE the result.
Wonderful Louise thank u for reaffirming for me what I know and have learnt… just need to remember to stay focused on that truth and not be distracted/overwhelmed by my thinking…that similar to u can get me all tied up in knots! X
Very powerful message Louise. You look like me when I paint - messy hair, scrubby clothing, paint on the lens of my glasses. A lot of authenticity to put this video together. I heard your message loud and clear. I needed to hear it at this time in my art. Thank you😀😀
Love this and I can feel your excitement when I look at it! I am always about experimenting, playing, and finding my joy. I do not sell my work but give it away if someone loves it.
