Welcome to BookTube! It sounds like you bring an interesting background, and we share a love of poetic writing. I read across all genres, including fantasy, literary, horror, romance, thrillers, classics, and sci-fi. A book I’d recommend is I Who Have Never Known Men. It kind of defies genre classification, but I’d say it is a smart and haunting take on a more literary leaning dystopian novel. I’ll be looking forward to more of your videos.
Great vlog, really enjoyed getting to know your wit and reading self. This booktube lark looks like a hoot, must give it ago. Thanks for the inspiration. I love fantasy and magic realism too, but am a big poetry nerd. I love poetry, especially contemporary poetry. So much magic.
Welcome to the BookTube community! I love both of the BookTube channels that you mentioned. Best of luck with your channel - I look forward to watching more of your videos. Happy Reading! 😎📚👍
Welcome to the Book Tube Community! I'm so happy you chose to start a channel and let us get to know you through this tag! I enjoy reading historical fiction about women's lives and roles as well. This year, I read "The Women" by Kristen Hannah which i really enjoyed - love stories about nurse's who served in Vietnam! Also, I started a series called the "Sky" Series - I read the first book of three called, "Dark Enough to See the Stars in a Jamestown Sky" by Connie Lapallo. It is about the first colonists to arrive in North America - from the female perspective. Anyway, welcome! I look forward to watching more of your videos in the future!
Hello, and thank you for the welcome! I'd really like to get to The Women this year, and the Sky series sounds like my cup of tea. Thanks for being here!
Hi Katherine. Your video just popped up in my feed. Welcome to BookTube! I enjoyed your newbie tag! I hope you're having a great experience here on BookTube! I will look forward to getting to know you better.
I don’t know if it’s late to say welcome! I just found your channel and I love British fiction and witchy women, literary and historical fiction, so I look forward to hearing about those. You reminded me I used to love the Sweet Valley High series, so nostalgic. I love Jen and Simon! And I love the term catnip! I mentioned the concept of that in my booktube newbie tag video too, I love hearing other people’s bookish catnip. I love mother/daughter relationships and themes related to art, memory, connection, and communication. Hope that fits the idea of bookish catnip. Hope you’re having a great time so far!
I see Still Life by Sarah Winman on your shelf, so I am already invested. That's my favorite book of all time! Also, if you like herbal women with a bit of witchcraft and strong female characters, I'd highly (x3) recommend the Witches series and the Tiffany Aching series in Terry Pratchett's Discworld (if you haven't read them already). Given what you've said about your doctorate, I think these books would interest you. The first in each series is Equal Rites and The Wee Free Men, respectively.
Hi Katherine!! You got me at Canadian 💕 (I have a cousin who lives in Montreal) Welcome to the book tube community. I just launched an english speaking book channel yesterday, but have been booktubing for over a year on another channel in my native language, Italian. Love, love the book tube community and I look forward to connect with other book lovers outside my borders. Happy reading! xo, Daniela
@@RaspberryReads Thank you Katherine, I forgot to mention that I am currently reading Alice Munro 'Lives of Girls and Women' (in Italian) and loving it! It's my first encounter with the Canadian author...
Welcome! New subscriber. I think you will find this community so welcoming and kind. I’ve made so many sweet friends. I love how humble you are when you are clearly brilliant! 🤩I would enjoy some dystopian recommendations. I am from the U.S. and one of my favorite childhood memories was a trip to Calgary, and I know this is pretty “typical” but I am obsessed with L.M. Montgomery! Also, yes, Dear America is a thing in U.S. and Sweet Valley(taking me back😂) was a big thing for me too. I am big into children’s literature so will check out that first channel! 😊
Hi Katherine! Hello & welcome. I am excited to get your nature & sustainability book recs. I also can relate to a multi-year reading slump after finishing my doctorate. Looking forward to your future videos :)
Hi Katherine! Welcome to the booktube community! I am very excited to see some of your historical fiction recs - I also love any books with strong, empowered female protagonists.
Hi Katherine. Welcome to Booktube. I look forward to seeing your videos. I will definitely check out your blog too. Making a channel has inspired me to write blog posts too. Itll help me make sense of my reviews, cause I ramble a lot! 😅🫣🥴
Hi, Katherine! I'm looking forward to hearing about all bookish things you want to share with us over the upcoming year. From an oldie content creator to a newbie, welcome aboard! I used to have a book blog too, but found that I almost got no feedback on it from commenters at all. Because I read pretty off-the-wall, academic nonfiction mostly, I still get less than most people - but a lot more than I used to with a blog. We're so glad to have you here!
Hi Katherine! Welcome to the Booktube community. 🎉 I’m a Katherine and spell it the same way. 😊 Although, I go by Kat on my channel. I’ll have to check out your blog. It sounds interesting. I have a blog as well which I started many years ago to exercise my writing muscle. It’s more about my personal journey. I read more fiction than nonfiction and a variety of genres. My favorites are mystery, horror, thriller along with historical fiction, classics, and fantasy. I also love reading children’s literature, mainly middle-grade but occasionally ya and a picture book. 📚 I wish you all the best with your booktube channel. 😊
@@RaspberryReads Thanks, Kat! 😊 I find when I tell people my name for the first time I become Kathy or Kathleen, so I figured Kat is easy enough to remember. 🤣
Speaking of herbal women, I just listened to The Burnings by Naomi Kelsey, have you read that? Would love to hear you thoughts on that with your academic perspective! Also, Kate Foster’s The King’s Witches is coming out in June and seems to have a similar premise, or at least some commonalities like the royal couple and the North Berwick (?) burnings/events.
I haven't read those, but I'll have to check them out. My academic research was mainly 18thC English noblewomen, so I don't know as much about witch burnings, but I still find it interesting to read about!
Hey there! Welcome to booktube! I love your background with your PHD and the fact that you focus on nonfiction. I have a couple of channel recommendations for you. Jolene - @bookwormadventuregirl (she’s who I go to for everything Canadian literature) Deea - @novelideea (lots of nature related books) Hannah - @savage reads (reads tons of great nonfiction) I personally read a nice mix of fiction and nonfiction. I’ve been getting a bit more into nature related books. I just finished Fresh Banana Leaves by Jessica Hernandez PHD and I have Black Earth Wisdom on my TbR atm. I’ve subscribed and look forward to seeing more of your videos!
