  • Here I will show you EXACTLY How Many Miniatures you need to play Five Leagues from the Borderlands 3rd Edition. We take a deep dive into the enemies table to find out the maximum number of enemies you can face in each battle. I hope this helps new players in their buying or painting decisions.

    important to note is that you can pick exactly which enemy types you want to fight, so if your miniature collection is just rats and undead, obviously dont pick lizardmen as an encounter table.

    Good work. Dusklings were envisioned as either 'Conan' style barbarians, or more Orc-like humanoids. I'm using historical vikings miniatures to suggest a separate 'other' human culture.

      Thanks! Yeah that could work. Waiting for my Anastyr game minis * drool *

      I've interpreted the Dusklings as a catch-all for all the "monster" races. Orcs, goblins, kobolds, cat people, whoever isn't a human-looking person (or Preen, I guess.)

    I enjoy figuring out what you'd need to have to be able to field absolutely every possible option. It's impractical and not remotely necessary, but kind of fun.

      Yeah and some tables are all over the place!

      @@Rathammergames Don't forget, that undead unit that spawns a new undead every time a player character dies means you *technically* need an extra one less than the max warband size.
      You know, just in case they massacre you without a single loss.
      And you decide to keep playing.
      And you don't just use some other model.

      If you are a completionist, many Foes require more varied minis. For example, Curse of War is not really "human" models -- it's both soldier types (in sane and deranged variations; it's up to you if you depict them differently) and also flesh-eating ghouls. Likewise, Whispers from Beyond is not just Undead, it also has human cultists. Ice-heart has Elves and Tree-people, not just Goblins. Now, I think being a full completionist is not practical, but maybe a couple of variations within each table are sensible :)

      @@theandf that one drives me crazy! I have no dryads or anything like that.

      @@Rathammergames indeed! And even worse: I dislike most "tree-man" and dryad models from every brand, even GW. I would never collect them. So maybe scratch build them? Hard to find the motivation...

    Very useful! I ran into the issue with Five Parsecs where I often just didn’t have enough units, so i just placed as many as I had.

      @Rathammergames  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that can happen. You could just print some standees in the meanwhile. Cheers!

    I use roll20 with maps I download from internet or create on dungeon fog and I have unlimited miniatures, and with dungeon fog you can make the map exactly how you want it. This takes up very little space in my house, and the variation of maps and miniatures are infinite, so I don't have to dedicate my whole basement to miniatures.

    I just ordered the book. I think I will get largely generic forces for my three foes only with enough ranged units to specify missile users

    Quite informative. Maybe there is a group where the author has clarified these questions unanswered here

    I'd love to see the same video for 5 parsecs if you play it at all.

      I will! Getting minis together (and a ship). I don’t have a lot of sci-fi terrain tho. Let’s see what I can do.

    Good video. However, I might be misunderstanding the rules, but I think some of these numbers could be even higher with the Unknown Enemy rule, as it suggests you remove 3 models and could replace them with up to 5? So, a Gibbering Horde with a roll of 6, could then be 6 +6 +1 (if with leader) +2 (to cover Enemy Unknown) = 15.

    • @Rathammergames
      @Rathammergames  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agree! However those instances are rare. If they come up, you can bring your enemies in waves and not fight 15 enemies at a time.

    • @theandf
      @theandf 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Even worse, if fighting a defensive battle you must add +1. Some Threat conditions also give them an additional +1. I think you could potentially fight even bigger numbers. But like the other comment states, you can always have your enemies arrive in waves, even if they rules don't mention this.
