We just took delivery of our new Tesla model y long range here in Arizona. Loved this video, very informative. I have a question about the Tesla messages part of the app. We worked with a Tesla delivery agent and therefore didn’t actually complete all of the tasks related to delivery so we still have a message saying to complete the delivery steps. Is there a way to delete the Tesla message from the app?
Awesome! Congratulations! I have the same thing from my delivery. There doesn’t seem to be a way to delete messages but as long as you’ve read it, the inbox blue circle should disappear so it’s at least less annoying.
Thanks for the refresher. I also updated to the current app version with your reminder.
Glad it was helpful!
This video has great info. Thanks!
Awesome!
I really wish Tesla offered more information, perhaps linked to premium connectivity. Things like accessing trip information and history would be awesome and I think most people would not even blink and would pay premium connectivity right away.
Agreed. The amount of information available through apps like Tessie and TezLab, it would be great if Tesla offered that info.
A deep dive into an app that has very few options. Nice
Something to keep in mind with charging vs. gas and savings is that you can set the price you pay for electricity, but the gas price is set based on the model you’re driving and where you live. For example, I drive a Model Y LR in Wisconsin. The model Y is compared to a BMW that uses premium gasoline and gets 25mpg. In WI that’s about $4.34/gal. There are multiple problems with that calculation. First of all, where I live in WI the prices for gas are less due to distance to pipelines, ports and refineries, so I would pay less. Secondly, I would like to compare to the car I replaced or a car that I may have purchased if I hadn’t bought the Model Y, say a Prius. So, my cost for gasoline would be more than a $1/gal less and my mileage would be 2x better. The savings would be much much less. For an average American driving 13,500 miles per year, or 1,125 miles per month, that’s a difference of $195-$71, or $124 less in savings per month. (1125 miles / 25 mpg * $4.34/gal vs 1125 / 54 * 3.40)
Where do you get the BMW info? The tesla site only uses MPG to make that calculation. I agree with you in the sense that if you’re comparing another vehicle you either traded or would have gotten instead of a Tesla then you’re savings would defer. But the purpose of the stat is to compare the equivalent mileage for gas vs electric.
@@northerntesla A Tesla rep told me it uses a premium gas vehicle for comparison. I recall someone else saying it was a BMW, but that's immaterial, I guess.

Does the app come with widgets?
For iOS you have a small widget available and a medium one that includes a few quick controls. But in my experience the car doesn’t go to sleep with the widget so seemed to be a battery drain. I might test and advise.
