Not me accidentally scheduling this to post at 1AM instead of 1PM 🤦🏻♀️ my brain is fried
😂❤no big deal. It got to Calif. About 1 pm. Negative 11? I can't cope with my high desert mountain ghost town at 27 degrees last night! My plugs keep melting in my travel trailer. So I'm depending on electric blanket and heavy quilt. Heater quit in my cpap humidifyer too. Damn!❤😂you have Norther Lights because we had a huge X class solar flare this morning.!
I have read ''fired'' but this is becasue I am ill and tired
Love you both ❤❤❤❤❤. More videos ❤❤❤
No, your brain sabotaged you in order to get more of that coffee. Don't let it fool you, Lol.
It’s actually frozen
lol your guardian angel definitely needs a raise
Just a tip. Woodburner usually have air vents on the bottom front. If you shut the air intake a bit the fire won’t be so roaring and eat up your wood so fast at night. If nothing else, you can shut down the damper on the stove pipe some and it will do the same thing. Advice from a person who had the night shift, adding wood to keep us warm all night. ❤😊🎄
Yes! And make sure to let it burn fast and hot to establish a good bed of coals for when you put fresh wood on to get going easier)
And clean it before use

I still can't get over the fact she went to Gargage Depot to buy firewood... In Alaska.
Is it just me or does blue look so much better. He’s like a new dog despite the cancer. I pray our little guy kicks cancers ass❤
Drove me crazy that you didn't look for the breaker box and turn the power on. Plus, every wood burning stove has an air damper. I'm sure it's left wide open between guests so that moisture doesn't gut rust the stove out. BTW, you need an oil heater, AND a block heater. Both that can run on a secondary DC battery and AC power. If you can only choose one, get the oil heater. Don't get the one made in China, get one made in U.S.A. or Germany.
I was saying the same thing out loud, CHECK THE BREAKER BOX! LOL
It’s an off grid survival shelter there is most likely no power probably just wired for a generator
Could be, but if you never check you are never Gona know :) @@crfjohn79
@@DD_2014 I kept thinking it. She said "a fuse" or something, but........The breaker probably was just off.
The fact you went to Alaska without installing a block heater and diesel heater is absolutely crazy 😮
Especially with a diesel.
I'm from Alabama and have no idea what those are. Something for the car? Different weather, I guess.
Dont needed it if you live in Anchorage Area, well maybe a little, but if you in Fairbanks and up, good luck with that
They actually make a magnetized one that works well
There's a main breaker switch outside the cabin somewhere to turn the power, they put there for fire prevention. They can shut off entire grids but not what is in your cabin. They do this here in colorado.
I was thinking the same. that there had to be a breaker somewhere
I was also thinking the same thing.
This is such a uplifting video from my freaking hospital bed. I wish I could be camping 🏕 😕 😪
Get well!
🙏 get well soon.
Praying that you get well soon buddy!
I've there, spent last Christmas in the hospital. Hope you get out soon.
Get well soon!
My daughter just told me she is glad she grew up in a house heated with a wood stove. She now is the best fire starter in the city she moved to. 😂 Burns are a hazard of wood heat for sure. I keep an aloe plant close at hand. Blu looks like he is feeling pretty good. Hope his treatments continue to help him.❤😊
I had a wood stove in my childhood home in West Michigan. ☺️ some of my favorite memories are watching my dad get it ready ❤️
I miss my wood stove!
Cool cabin. I highly recommend learning how a dampener works on a wood stove. That’ll help keep you warm during the night. Also, you may have had to turn the breaker on in order to get your lights and outlets to work. Recommend following the conduit and seeing if it leads to a breaker panel.
Those cabins require generators, they’re off the grid.
Those land rovers we used in the British military, turn on the ignition twice before starting,( allows the glow pug to get extra hot) and pump the gas pedal several times
The vibe you love is a warm cabin on a seriously cold night, instead of being inside a car! Oh, and your dog is excited because he has more than a couple feet of space to walk around in.
"Fiddy" love it.
Blue drank your coffee 😂😂😂
I've never come across your channel before. I love it! First , I've never seen anyone who loves and is aware of the emotional potential of their dog child. Secondly, I too made a maiden voyage up to the Arctic Circle with my yellow lab and a KLR650 motorcycle. I lived in Eagle River, AK, for 16years working at the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage. The owner of the store and gas station just south of the Yukon River let me park my 25" RV and KLR650. I then drove my motorcycle to the AC. I am so impressed with your achievements.
Blue is such an attentive, loving, cute helper! Good boy!
You and the outdoor boys would be a perfect duo
Your dog loves and trust you.
While I was watching your video, my 23-year-old son went online and purchased 3 bags of this coffee (yes, we are a family of coffee addicts😂). We should receive them before Christmas so they will be wrapped as gifts to us🤣
Thanks for the recommendation❤️ ☕️
🎉 You’re doing great…you’re surviving!!! I’ve got a couple of tips for you. Use the upper bunk, next time. Heat rises! You’ll stay warmer, longer. Also, that store-bought wood 🪵 is dry-as-a-bone. It’s great for kindling but burns really quick. Next time, before hitting the hay, put a “round” in your wood stove and it will burn longer into the night. (I noticed that the previous tenant had left some “round” branches for you to use.) It’s also more convenient to put another log in the wood stove the minute you start to feel cold. Just wake-up and take advantage of the coals leftover from the previous fire; that way you don’t have to build a fire from scratch. PLUS, if you have a fire/wood stove, save your isobutane for emergency use!!! Cook your food & beverages in a little metal pot. NOTHING hits the spot like HOT FOOD ‼️ That freeze dried dinner is COLD by the time that boiling water has saturated your dinner…especially when your room temperature is below freezing. (Maybe even think about putting your freeze dried meals in an INSULATED bag to help retain the heat, longer. (Soto makes a titanium cook set that has an insulated “bubble wrap” that help’s keep your bowl warm while you’re eating.)
Finally, besides a “freeze plug” heater for your engine block, get a “battery blanket” or “silicone heater” for your battery. Silicone heaters are great and easy to install. All you need is, one for your oil pan, one for your transmission, and one for your battery.
In the future, when you are trying to keep warm in the winter (in Poe or in a tent), try to utilize DRY HEAT sources. (4lb. mini-titanium backpack stove?!?) Gas stoves and heaters create a LOT of condensation and also gives off carbon monoxide, so be careful…maybe even get a CO monitor if you have to use a petroleum product.
Love your adventurous mindset!!! You’ve developed the skills to survive the next apocalypse ‼️
Hey honey bear! Super fun video! Good job as always! Give Blue a big kiss for Grammy. BIG KISSES. Love you and miss you TONS!
"I've burned myself twice already." LOL that got me rolling for some reason. Ahhh yes, I am easily amused. 🤣
I don't know how you stand all that cold weather! -11 is way too cold for me! I'm more of a warm weather kind of girl, but I sure like watching you and Blue enjoy your adventures!!! That coffee you got sounds like it's delicious YUMMY ❤ EDIT: - 20 Brrrrrrrrr !!!!
I like it cold but that's ridiculous!
Wood stove needs cleaning.
Why didn’t you bring in your Jackery ? 💯✌🏼🙂❤️
I LOVE your facial expressions! I’m always laughing out loud (literally!) 🎉 Looking for the coffee now. Keep safe!
Do a search for (and learn about) wood stove damper. You can regulate the damper and air intake so it won't get too hot and also to make the fuel last longer overnight.
Also, any auto parts store up there will have a vehicle battery heater you can plug into the Jackery.
St. Nickerdoodle. Lol.
My husband and I took my three boys to one of those cabins one time and the stove heated up the cabin so hot that all of them ended out on the porch in their underwear😆 If you go to one, you have to hike to get a sled and pull your stuff in. Bald Lake is a nice one👍
You should do reviews on different MREs ..
I was literally just thinking how calming it would be to have a new RR video to watch and lo and behold posted 4 minutes ago. 😁
-20, HOT BLOODED ITALIAN?
NOT A PROBLEM KEEPING WARM.🥶🥵 JUST GOT TO LOVE IT!!!❤
From another Midwestern ITALIAN that moves to the cold weather. 😅😱🌌🎄🎄🎄
Qué envidia….btw, mi hijo y yo amamos verte y amamos el frío¡
Crazy cold. Get a jacket for Blue
This was great! Whenever you get to Delaware, I'm just warning you our weather is very TriPolar. 😂😌✨💜
I love that youre constantly smiling but also nervous and panicing the entire time 🤣🙏 stay safe
So cool to see that you were at this cabin! My dog Abby and I use them a lot because I don’t have good camping gear for these temps. Funnily enough, this is the only one in the interior that I’ve had the carbon monoxide detector go off for me 😅 I think I may have written about it in that notebook.
Stay safe and warm! (If you liked that cabin the one on chena hot springs road at granite tors is about the same size. The smaller ones are easier to heat. The angel creek cabins are about a 5 mile hike. They’re by the chena hot springs resort.)
Aaaaand the outlets are for generators that you bring. That’s why there was no power.
Recommendation. I hope you’re using anti-gel in the fuel. So the fuel doesn’t freeze because once it turns like Jell-O, you’re not gonna be able to get that thing running.
Blue is the best, hope he stays healthy, you are sooo lucky to have him, Merry Christmas!
I am 61 years old and so admire you for this adventure.
So rad to see!! Also the northern nights. Before I die I want to see that!!
People used to cook on top of the wood stove. You could've used a skillet and cooked his meat to warm it for him. He needs his feet covered and a coat. His body didn't build up to that extreme cold.
Batteries freeze at those temps. You need a portable generator and an engine heater.
I never use the emergency brake in winter up here due to possible freezing if that happens bad things happen just a tip from one alaskan
Yup, that ting will freeze lock rite up
Okay, fine. You’re now my favorite channel on here.
So far this is the funniest survival and outdoor channel I've found. Truly funny, not trying to. 🙂
Who are you!!!! You should have a million subscribers!!! You are too funny and the most entertaining....period!
They make “heating blankets” for batteries that will help. If you’re still in Alaska, “Battery Specialists of Alaska” in Anchorage will get you taken care of and install it. The owner Rich is great.
Thanks
You are doing great. You've mastered the most important things like selecting shelter from weather, finding food and supplies, building a fire.
This might sound stupid , but its true , if your battery gets frozen , turn your lights on for a few minutes . You thaw out your battery that way . Stay safe !
I came to the comments to fuss at you but the other commenters already did a great job. Get a cook book. You eat the same 3 meals every vlog 😂 love your videos so much
I hope you and Blue are doing well. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
that old dog loves you😃
The burned, boyscout, fire-master lady! That was awesome, love your vids! And blues’ the (woof) man!
Love watching! Merry Christmas!
My youngest daughter and I love your channel. She's almost 8. She named her stuffed animals Ru, Blue, and Poe 🥰 just the sweetest thing
Hey! For future wood purchases, Home Depot is pretty expensive. If you search around for fire wood suppliers in your area there are lumberyards that will sell end pieces in the 1/2 cord, or 1/4 cord and save you a TON of money and you’ll get a metric ton of wood for your trip! They’re typically end pieces that are leftovers from when they cut full cords, and I’ve bought (basically a truck bed full) for about $30, which lasted our entire 10-day camping trip in the U.P. of Michigan! Just a thought! :) safe travels!!
LETS GOOOOO MARIA!!!!!!!!!
Mia you're so brave and smart and beautifully all things young women should have and you have a huge kind ❤️
From someone who grew up with a Land Rover 110 as "The family car"... and as a British Army Vet who spent several years as a Vehicle Mechanic, in the Army working on these wee things, the equivalent of a "19A" in the US Army.
It's GREAT to see these auld girls still being used, enjoyed (except when POE's too cold to wanna wake up) & worked on.
Keep on doing what you do Ria, Blue and POE!
You need a power station for that “girls best friend” electric blanket 👍👍👍🎄
Hello. Did you check the breaker box to make sure that there was power. Somebody may have turned the breakers off and turning them on would possibly give you power. Just a suggestion. Be safe!
Loved watching your video!! ❤
Looks like great fun!
I just went and ordered their holiday bundle coffee.
That looks like so much fun.
A few things. There are TH-cam tutorials out there about controlling wood stoves. i.e. adjusting the draft and the damper to control the heat and the rate of burn. I was also wondering if the power was shut off at the breaker box. It seems silly to have 110 wiring and no power for outlets and lights. Did you notice the mattress stashed under the bottom bunk? I'm old and had to learn all of these things the hard way. Love your videos. Sharing your adventures is a treat.
I am very happy I found this channel. Enjoy the holidays. Be safe.
That place is epic! Love it! ❤️
Your channel came up the other day and I've been obsessed ever since. Have a happy holidays!
You are doing a wonderful job on the wood stove stay warm and injoy your self
I lived in Fairbanks one winter and remember waiting for the school bus in -45°F weather.
Great video , looks lovely in the cabin , stay safe .
Great video. Thanks for sharing this challenging video!
I love watching your videos! Great angles and editing! You seem so motivated and determined to achieve your goals, i am inspired.
Crazy cold. I'm amazed! 💐
Looks like fun!
-20도에는 입도 얼어버릴것 같아요😊
메리크리스마스 🎄🎄
Merry Christmas Blue and Ria!! Stay safe! Love you both
Great video!
It’s funny how the coffee looks like 😮😮😮
Loved this!
That cabin looks amazing!! Glad you guys found a warm spot! 🖤
Making Rhode Island look warm!! I love your camera angles and editing! Stay warm!
Really enjoyed this vlog. Good job 🫶🏼
I hope you’ll see this! I want to recommend getting some ‘Mushers Secret’ for Blue!! It’s THE BEST stuff for their paws in super cold temps!! I’m not kidding- it’s a life saver and you will love it, and Blue will especially love it!! I’m sure they have it readily available in Alaska. It protects their paws!
Yeah we have mushers secret! Love it
Merry Christmas,! Pleases stay safe and warm .😊😊
Such a lovely doggy.❤
Blue looks so good!
It's nice to have these survival cabins. But -20 degrees!!!! Just not for me. Continued good luck on your Alaskan camping trip Maria. How does one get used to such short daylight? Will say that coffee looks good. I'd have bought a half dozen packages!
I look so forward to your posts! I don't have the courage to do the things you do so I live vicariously through you. I do live full time in a small camper, but I'm in Port Aransas TX for the winter where it only gets about 60 degrees at the coldest. You rock!
What a surprise to see this video! What fun! Thank you for sharing with us first! It’s an awesome video! 💙🥶💙
Thank you for sharing your adventure. I hope your hand is healing up ok after your burn. :)
Hi Ria, love watching you from the UK, you're a brave girl. Dogs are cute. X❤
You're learning as you go, Maria. Great video!
Thanks!
Merry Christmas 🎅
It's good to know you don't have OCD.... The state of you car shows that 😂.
The cabin is awesome! Warm and dry. But still freakin’ cold! ❤😂
Loving it. And, you know, sending you both to stay warm and safe. And, we know, the adventure is more than what you show us. But, what you show us is indomitable.
Great video. Love the way Blue looks at you with such love!
