The musical 'Gypsy' based on her autobiography is wonderful but is full of half truths. The real story is much darker and far more interesting. What a character.

Absolutely out of this world wonderful....I can appreciate it after seeing Gypsy the Broadway show.....the cast made Louise look like her so well...of the six Broadway shows I saw while in Manhattan Gypsy was my FAVORITE!!!! Love her, so classy, what a lady!!!!

Rita was also one of the greatest dancers of the time. Still, Gypsy had her own magic and made the most of it -- mostly, on her own.
