I wonder if it is the dress Gypsy Rose Lee wore on I've Got a Secret (7/24/1957) where her secret was 'I'm wearing a dress that weighs 28lbs'. Though the show is black and white, they refer to her dress as being gold and do weight it on stage to show it is 28lbs.
Even if it is not the correct dress, the episode is worth watching to enjoy Gypsy Rose Lee's charm and humor.

Gypsy Rose Lee is semi well known in the ice skating world, since so many programs use songs from the musical about her life. When you were talking about the weight of that dress... when it’s more evenly distributed over the body it’s not as noticeable. I imagine that piece still feels heavy on due to the skirt though. Some figure skating dresses the elite skaters wear are 10 pounds due to the stoning. Brad Griffies (figure skating costume designer) said some dress he made for Gracie Gold was 18 pounds... but he had to redo it since he has heavily beaded the skirt which caused logistical issues with spins and jumps (threw her off balance). He said the redone one she actually wore in competition was 11 or 12 pounds. It’s fascinating how distribution of embellishments can impact wearability so much

I believe that behind every piece of clothes, and every detail a piece holds, there's a story, especially pieces made before 1990s, and it is important and wonderful to know these stories, because it tells who we are and who we were, what history of a certain period was and how everything is related, for clothes evolved based on the surrounding circumstances.
It would be amazing if you tell us through such videos every now and then on the stories behind each piece you have in your shop, or the ones that you wish to find, and the timeline of it's travelling from one owner to another and how it ended up where it is today, also how it transformed through time. ❤️

Just looking at this dress, I can feel Gypsy Rose Lee's spirit and visualize her performing in it. She was an amazing woman. Not only was she the Queen of striptease, but was very intelligent, an author and she spoke fluent French. Her story from her early days of vaudeville until her death was very fascinating. Her sister June Havoc's story was interesting too. The movie Gypsy and other stage adaptations are only the tip of the iceberg.

My heart broke when I heard you were looted. People are disgusting. Thanks for saving these pieces of history!

I think Helen Rose did Debbie Reynolds’ wedding dress which she pretty much borrowed from MGM

Well done again Doris, wow, what a find and an absolute gem of a gown! I always rather fancied trying to be Miss Electra from the musical some day! Stay safe and as we say in the UK, be good and if you can’t be good, be careful! ❤️
