@@jj2751 My truck ran normal and then all of a sudden all the lights on my dash came on and the engine shuts down. It’ will start back up once I pull over and shut it off and start it back up and drive again for another 10 minutes and it shuts off again.

It's not very fun at 4am to go pitch black and have zero night vision. Or, be in a pack of 4wheelers at night when the world goes blank. Freightliner should have a recall. It's a safety issue.

I got to thank you years later after u made this video. My 2011 Cascadia shutdown on me while decellerating and I guess it was my ignition switch. I cycled the key and waited for gauges to cycle.. but battery, temp and oil pressure gauges stayed flat (they didnt come back up and truck wouldnt restart) Tried to keep my kool and not panic.. Found your video here.. tried flipping the big kill switch (as u call it.. cause mine doesnt light up in the on position so i couldnt tell, and the truck runs in the off position. Im pretty sure its not connected) I messged the key around and then turned it on to let gauges cycle again and they all came back up this time (you know i had a ray of hope then lol) .. she fired up. This old truck has 1million, 70k miles.. i havent made money with it yet.. had it over a year and recently got the fire back in me to get it goin so i been givin it the needed tlc. One thing to note about these Cascadias (i cant speak for the new gens)... I think some of us has hit the key while in the ignition, getting in the truck here n there.. i remember doin it maybe twice, in the many of these trucks ive driven. Its happened rarely but it could contribute to ignition switch wear. I knee'd one pretty hard and my knee did hurt as i remembered lol.

Mine randomly shut off and started back up. Now it stops doing the sweep. I've asked dealers and all they say is they don't know. Bring it in so they can "troubleshoot it". Thanks for sharing your information.
They don't know? They see and work on the same units every day yet they don't know? Typical standard stupid answer from the dealer because they want to get your vehicle in to make money. There afraid if they told you what the problem was you'd fix it yourself lol.
Great video new truck to me only a week out then this started happening you can imagine my heart was at my feet, did an old google and your video piped up I will replace that module and let you know... thank you
On the module it has two connectors. On The bottom one the red locking part broke. Would you know to fix it the connector I drove 400 with the red locking clip broken but still few days until I make it home to fix the connector
I believe another reason is coolant level. Make sure your coolant level is at the top fill level or almost near the top fill level. It will take around 24 hours of driving before the shutting down stops.
If it happening with a month in between most likely you have other connection issues other then that distribution module. Trace your fmi faults. Can be difficult if inactive. But most likely there will be an active fault where it has the ability to active the trouble shooting steps.
I ordered Pndb a few days ago and sent my truck to the shop just to get a 36 point inspection. They told me it would cost $1600!! To replace the PNDB and killswitch just for labor! Lmao I said I could replace that in less then a hour so they did me a favor and towed my truck outside their yard so I could install.

I betcha that’s it then. I took the cover off last week and was able to push in the 5 amp fuse on top left until it clicked. Thought that was the fix but it’s still shutting off/turning on while driving. What’s the cost on that module?

Hey I have 2007 fregtliner Columbia and I'm having the same problem it happened once in a month or so it happened last week the ignition was on but there was no lights on dash engine keep spinning and after 2 days I start it up and it fire right away. Sometimes what it does let's say if I want to turn off the ignition nothing happens the truck stay start I have to put in gear and turn off manually and when it's off I get the error of no eng what would be the problem
Mine when I got a bump the stop engine light come on than 3 min later engine dies cuts off. Than 2 min later I start back up and it runs for 10 min and does it again when I hit a small bump. Any ideas? Appreciate it
I parked my truck Saterday at 12:00 flipping the disconnect, started sunday after flipping switch back and my blog said go to paper because power was cut... Weird because i have had in my truck for a year and half and never got message. So i drove yesterday with no problems... Today, randomly shut off 5 times... I am going to try changing the module, and disconnect also if cheap enough.
One more the if your fuel filter cap it's not tied over time and vibration will get loose and such air and it will shut down the engine I just had the issue this morning on my route

Replaced the module earlier in the day and tonight I get ready to hit the road and hit a good bump on the get on ramp and the truck dies. I never lost electrical power but truck wouldn't restart till it set about 5min and then it fired right up and I drove it away.
Strange....If it dies and the gauges do not sweet you didn't loose power so this video is not your problem....some times the electrical part of the ignition switch goes bad as well
@@provostmotorsportstrucking2298 yes, I think he had an incidental ignition key issue. It's freightliner, parts are built in Germany, Australia, Hungary. Not much quality control and inspection in place.
I had a 2011 freightliner Cas doing the same thing and they changed the wire harness no more problems. Now I've got another cascadia it's doing the same thing tonight
Can anyone help me.... I changed my ignition switch because, when I turn off the truck.. the A/C fan , DEF fuel gauge light blinks and the ignition buzzer is on. So I have to turn off the kill switch in order to shutdown all power.. No buzzer going off and A/C fan running.. Any ideas is well appreciated.
When mine started doing it I just disconnected to switch and moved the main cable from the input to the output side to bypass the relay. It's been a year-and-a-half now with no problems
@@lameyste I had the same issue. First I got the kill switch replaced. The truck would still act up even on the yard. I returned the kill switch, and bought the relay module. That fixed the problem. It's a10 minutes work and cost less then $100. Made in Austria by Mercedes. It's a faulty design, the water seeps into the module from the windshield and causes the shorting.
My truck started doing the cut off and back on again. I noticed it pretty much did it when I hit a bump on the road . Also noticed when I release my brakes or engage my lights blink . I’m new to the cascadia world but I know that can’t be normal

I had this problem and replaced it back in 2020 and here we are in 2024 and it’s doing it again, two times today

Coolant doesn't make all the lights on the truck completely black out
the PNDB is most of the time the one to be fixed or replaced when truck dies while driving or idling.

If your truck starts flashing your trailer and dash light's the middle.maxie fuse is blown. You would do well to get a spare off ebay.

I got mine for $20. They installed it for free. It was too little work to even charge me.

Those air lines go to your service brake. If you move them and crack and brake easley they should be replaced.

That sounds like a Sam cab card issue, they get wet and cause all kinds of crazy issues like that. It's behind your glove box $2200.00 at Freightliner

It might be ECM. Unplug and check for oil... Oil damaged my ECM and it had the same symptoms

It's a10 minutes work and cost less then $100. Made in Austria by Mercedes. It's a faulty design, the water seeps into the module from the windshield and causes the shorting.

They say water gets inside and damage it
My truck started doing the cut off and back on again. I noticed it pretty much did it when I hit a bump on the road . Also noticed when I release my brakes or engage my lights blink . I’m new to the cascadia world but I know that can’t be normal
Did you solve the problem
Alternator was changed as well as the module when I was done in by the bump. I have the kill switch I am going to try next
