    coolant suppose to work for 3 years only.
    the coolant lost properties because the negative cable or ground lines are contacted continuously on metals. that reactions name is elechydrolyzed, the metal parst start to shows white stuff or rusted metal. I change my coolant every 3 years to save aluminum or metal parts.

    $1300 for a POS that only hurts your engine, does not actually make it run cleaner, and is guaranteed to fail again and will only cause total engine failure in the end. just spend a bit more for a tune and delete that egr. an egr should never exist on a diesel engine. it can work on a good running gas engine. but diesel produces soot and ash. you cannot run that thru the intake of any engine and not have problems. thanks epa for not having a fucking clue.

    Great vid,
    I’m going to check mines out. I have a small hole on the side of my egr cooler and coolant seeping by that cross over pipe. No check engine light on. How long can I drive like that and can weld the small hole on the egr cooler? Thx in advance

    • @CarlosDieselElectric
      @CarlosDieselElectric  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If you have a small leak it might be able to be welded. How long it will last depends on the weld and the welder. I tell all my customers that there is no real time frame when it comes to patch jobs.
      First double check to see of the leak is at the pipe connector from the EGR cooler to the cross over.

      Could be something in the engine, possibly in between the cylinder head and engine block. You may not have compression pushing the coolant out. But first, a few questions.
      How much coolant are you loosing?

    Good Morning Carlos, Maybe you can give me some direction or guidance on this.
    2018 New gen Cascadia 126 - DD15 14.8L engine
    The code logged 2659/0(SPN/FMI) indicates "EGR Flow Target Error Diagnostic".
    This Fault Code indicates that the Motor Control Module (MCM) Detects that the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Target Error Diagnostic has High Flow.
    This fault code sets when the difference between the actual EGR flow and the commanded EGR flow is higher than a calibrated threshold.
    This fault will illuminate the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) and Check Engine Lamp (CEL) on the Vehicle Dash.
    This fault will cause an 25% Engine Derate.
    This EGR high flow will damage the AfterTreatment System (ATS).
    Possible Causes:
    Faulty Intake Manifold Sensor
    Faulty Charge Air Cooler Outlet Temperature Sensor
    Faulty EGR Delta P Sensor
    Plugged Delta P Venturi Tube
    ( according to parts guy I do not have a Delta P on this Truck )
    Plugged EGR Valve

    • @CarlosDieselElectric
      @CarlosDieselElectric  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Seems to new to have some of these possible problems. If you are going by the troubleshooting guide.
      Intake sensor could be blocked or something wrong with it.
      Possibly a bad CAC temp sensor
      Delta P issues, maybe.
      Is the truck still under warranty?
      Are there any software updates needed? Call the dealership and ask. Maybe the MCM. CPC and ACM have a software update available.
      Start with the update and see if warranty applies.

      A few things can happen, you can damage your DOC DPF system or if you have a One Box. Coolant will contaminate the system and may damage the aftertreatment.

    • @CarlosDieselElectric
      @CarlosDieselElectric  ปีที่แล้ว

      Try having the valves checked. Perform a compression test and see what the percentage is on each cylinder. When the results are printed it should pass or fail depending on the percentage.
      If one or more of the cylinders is low, then start with a simple valve adjustment.
      If you are consuming coolant then check the EGR cooler. This can also give you the symptoms you mentioned such as smoke

      It is rare that soot gets into the coolant. Could also be oil getting into the coolant system, the seals (o rings) at the oil cooler get hard and not longer seal. This slowly allows oil to seep into the system.

    Hello Sir. I do have dd15 with 515k miles on it. There is coolant leak on the passenger side of the engine. But it does not leak when parked even with engine running. Add 1-2 gallons of coolant every 3500miles depending on how warm it is outside.
    Dealership gave me two possible problems: 1.Head-gasket 2. Liner ring and now I see that it is also might be an egr cooler.

      Artem Kurdov you can remove two things to check to see if it’s your EGR cooler. The U pipe behind the EGR cooler or the cross over hot pipe. Check for coolant inside these places. If they are dry, then check the hoses just above the EGR cooler. Those are for the cab heater. There should be about 3-4 hoses and these supply coolant to the heater inside the cab compartment.
      If it were the liner than the coolant would be inside the oil (typically).

      Milton Gonzalez there is definitely a lot of labor involved. Not like the DD15.
      The DD13 requires removing the turbo, exhaust manifold, then the EGR cooler assembly. I would say $4500 is about right, might have someone to do it a little cheaper. But sounds fair.

      JG39697 are you leaking oil? If you are then possibly the crankcase breather. Or if you are leaking coolant then it could be the EGR actuator.

      JG39697 it sounds like it is the EGR actuator. Look up one of my videos. I have one for the EGR actuator replacement.

      Trucker Dave 215 thank you. The EGR cooler could be bad if it is pushing exhaust pressure into the coolant. Pretty rare but it can happen. Are you loosing coolant?

    Why not just clean your egi cooler

    • @CarlosDieselElectric
      @CarlosDieselElectric  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      When coolant is present in the exhaust portion or exhaust side (pipe) of the EGR cooler. Cleaning will not help, there is an internal leak and it needs to be replaced.
      The coolant is designed to cool the exhaust gases before they enter the cross over hot pipe. When it mixes the it turns into sludge and will harden.
