"not really the aesthetic I'm going for in my craft room." LOL, I cracked up! You kept me company while I was on the treadmill and there I was in the middle of my workout giggling like a loon. :) Thanks for never being boring.
Loved this. It reminded me that I need to play more. I hope you’ll do more, both to inspire us and so we can play along with our supplies. Thanks Lindsay!
I really enjoyed this! Until this past year or two, I never much cared for abstract or mixed media art. Not as an observer or creator. But I stumbled upon a TH-cam creator named Denise Love, and started seeing it differently. Like you stated, and Denise states repeatedly, it's about exploring and playing with your supplies and seeing what they can do. There's a lot of freedom in abstract.
Looking and listening to your vid, you have me ROFLOL😂!! “I’m not going to use all the colors, pick another, & stencil brush looks like tampons!’ 😂😂😂😂 Great play session; impressive results! 🤩🥰👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🎉💜 I still have my Creative Memories stencils from the late 90’s that comes in handy for all things grid and stencil related. Would suggest using a silicon mat for the gluing of deli paper strips next time. Plus I felt you neglected that first square created… Thanks for posting and sharing your new artsy paints and crafty items! 🎉🙏🏾👍🏾💜😘 Glad to see I am not the only one with an ongoing monologue with oneself; I just don’t film it for YT!!😂
This was so much fun. Beautiful result. Very therapeutic. Love it. Got to try it out. Thank you for the inspiration, Lindsay. You have chosen the most beautiful colours. 😀💛🧡❤🤎💜💚💙🖤😀
The line that cracked me up is when you said the blending stick with the string looked like a tampon! And it does!!! I laughed out loud when you said that! 😂😆🤣I don’t like the string on it either….I would definitely get paint on it by accident and not discover it until I drug it across my art work.
Tampons! Yes! I took the string out of my brushes for that very reason 😂 I bought the Caran d'ache gouache and don't really know how to approach them. Thanks for making me braver to try them!
I always learn something from your video's but this one.......... You made me want to have coffee with you and just chat. Your JOY while making this beautiful artwork went right to my sad heart and brought sunshine! I needed THIS video tonight!! I can now sleep with a heart full of joy!! Please keep being YOU and keep showing your joy while playing once in a while. Thank YOU for posting this!!!
I really am loving this small square grid project. I was thinking about the collage cards you like to make and how these grids in different colors would make great backgrounds. Even tearing them into strips might be cool. Thanks for the inspiration. I will finish watching now! I can’t wait to see where you go with them.
I will look forward to a video on watercolor sticks. I specifically would like to know how the American Journey sticks work. You might want to set up a small palette with cut sticks.
I'm thinking i love these type of Lindsay projects the best. im working along with you using my most recent Craft Stash Lindsay kit. Love hearing your thought processes. along the way. TFS
Hullo Lindsay, You are so inspiring and an amazing mixed media Artist! This is a wonderful addition to your sketchbook floozy compendium! In this video you reminded me of my first mixed media painting. I was 14 and I entered the local county fair with my first really good(I thought so) watercolor painting. Now I had to use some white opaque watercolor paint, it said so on the label! To cover up a slight imperfection to go over it again. Now when I entered the art building I was directed to the sign in table and a "Charming old Bat" proceeded to tell me that I had not painted a watercolor painting and I would have to enter my painting as a mixed media artwork. Now I have since intentionally used many mediums to create artworks and even used watercolor pencils to start and add details to a watercolor painting. Yep still a mixed media, but I am no longer 14 years old so I can handle it. I do hope your stencils sell out as completely as your last sets! You are such a wonderful advertisement for your supplies! I truly believe you could easily sell more art supplies. Baylee Jae has made Advent calendars of her merchandise and they sell out every time, but she works super hard to bring them off! From prints to pins to stickers and many other items she creates. I wonder if you have time to do something like an art supply advent calendar? Maybe if they are not completely out of "vogue" an art supply box such as JAZZA has done in the past? Well there is still some video left, I will go finish. Thanks for an engrossing video and a lovely afternoon spent with you and your new products!
My thing is that I only want to create products that will add value to people's stash and I don't know if I can think up enough small and useful stuff. There is so much of the same out thete, you know?
This kept me company while I was doing some gel printing and collage, thank you. ❤ I love both the process and the end product so much. Also, I LOVED those makeup wedges that came in a pack that you would pull apart, but I haven’t seen them at Dollar Tree in a stone’s age… 😩
You are so versatile and you hit it on the nose with your mixed media collage . You gave me a lot of ideas thank-you. You are such a great inspiration never change.😊
I gotta admit, about 1/2 through I thought "what on earth is she doing?" About 3/4 of the way through my honest opinion would’ve been "What a shame. All that work for a hot mess," but right before you started doodling, I thought "so pretty!" and "how did she pull that off?!" You did it again; you showed us the difference between an experienced artist and a one trick pony who can only do a particular fad learned from a tutorial or magazine. The the end result is “amazing!"
I love these swatch squares..I tend to play around like these with new paints. Its definitely abstract which is why I love the freedom it gives you to do whatever you want.
Lindsay, I absolutely love this! The colors, textures and designs are amazing and it looks like so much fun. I'm going to try it. I think your advent calendar idea is good, too. I enjoy your long videos. Thanks so much!
@@thefrugalcrafter So weird......my ability to comment directly has disappeared....but apparently I can comment in the replies....In any case, I LOVE this and I'm only 15 minutes in. Thank you, Lindsay. Will have to give it a try. ❤
I just saw this stencil when I was looking at your new journaling tool and I was wondering how big those squares are in this grid. I’m so glad I seen this.💙
Absolutely inspiring. I love it! The whole project would be super in an A4 frame. I plan to do some, similar to this, as you’ve shown me each step. Thank you so much 😊
I'm only 20 min in but am loving this!! It reminds of when I began to notice how wonderful different colors look together as kid. I used to goover the same books and pictures over and over and wonder HOW the artist did it. Thanks for the heads up about stencils! I have a couple with burrs and didn't think to use a nail file.
Well….I love this! I just sent in an order to Craft Stash for the Universal template and the squares and hexagons one. I should have watched the tutorial first because now I want this one! 😀😂🤣 How fun is this stencil! So creative!
Thanks Lindsey, I have been wanting to see the Caran d'Ache gouache set in action and I didn't know about Zen All is good for gouache, I will have to try them. I am not completely happy with any brush I have for gouache yet. I use Shinhan gouache and love it but boy does gouache tear up my good brushes but the cheaper ones don't hold the paint well.
I loved this video! It was great being able to see how it all came together - from marking out the squares w/ your stencil to the finishing touches. The colors were all beautiful, too! (That CD turquoisey teal and pink really popped!) I agree - it would make a fun advent calendar! I was already picturing a mini paint puck wedged into one of the squares, hehe. 💗
100% perfect. This is a great way to check out various color combinations on my palette! ❤❤❤ Just the idea I need right now! I do most of my playing in my Bee mixed media pad.
Can't wait to get these stencil floozies, to add to my crazy stash!!! I need to figure out where to get these other stencils!!! I love the clock and the words!!!
Thank you! This is beautiful, but I have been feeling lousy, and having a hard time crafting. I want to make around 80 Thanksgiving cards, and I did leaves last year. I had no clue what I wanted to do. I looked at some of the earthy colors you were using, and thought about those cards. I'm going to gel print them, do a cluster of pumpkins and hopefully mushrooms. I pulled out a stamp set I hadn't used yet. 24 pumpkins stamped and cut out on my scan n cut. I hope the mushrooms will also cut out on the scan n cut. They are going to be a variation of a mini slimline, and I will have some type of sentiment on the inside. I may print Happy Thanksgiving on the computer, cut them, ink the edges, and glue them down. Thank you for the inspiration.
Halloooooo, Lindsay! How much fun was THAT?!? I am at work and thoroughly enjoyed watching you play with your new supplies. Thank you so much for bringing some joyful whimsy to my day! Love and Bless xo
