  • This dryer vent cleaning was not the everyday cleaning because it presented with two uncommon problems. Thanks to the skills that I acquired from the Certified Dryer Exhaust Technician course, I was able to resolve the issues.

    Great Video! Always inspiring to see a successful working man.

      Yes, more than once. One was an apartment building that was using the flexible transition hose for the entire length of the dryer vent run. It has multiple turns, and I wouldn’t be able to access the attic space to retrieve my brush if it got stuck or damaged said hose. The HOA tried to impose several liability forms onto my work, so I turned down the job.

      @jobswel-done1120  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Another was from the “bird nest in vent” video that I made. I tried to make it educational for the HOA staff, but the treasurer kept referring to my fee and the time I predicted that it would take. He then stated that X amount an hour is too much to vacuum a hose. I read the signs and declined the job.

    Hey! Firstly just wanted to say that I loved this video! I'm looking to start cleaning dryer vents as another side hustle to bring in some extra cash. What are three things that you would recommend that I know before I start to do this? Also if your brush gets stuck in the tubing system, what's the best way to get it out?

    • @jobswel-done1120
      @jobswel-done1120  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank-you.
      1. Research/Education. This can be a technical job because every layout/house is different. There are many ways to clean a vent, but the layout can determine the best, and most efficient way. I use brush, and others use airline. Find out what your preference is, but know how to do both. I became a CDET (Certified Dryer Exhaust Technician) to receive a total education on the entire scope of dryer vents. Not a must, but consider it. 2. Have patience because this is not a "hurry up to get to the next job" type service. Almost every house has a dryer, and referrals will give you free business. 3. Build great relationships with other entities that send you business, such as appliance repair shops and appliance warranty companies.
      I have had this happen a few times. I went with a brush in the opposite direction and got lucky. Then I found out this shouldn't be done. LOL. This is an excellent tool to retrieve brushes in the vent.

    How do you handle gas dryers. Do you disconnect gas line to pull dryer out?

    • @jobswel-done1120
      @jobswel-done1120  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Check the integrity of the line first. If it looks frail, or you already smell gas, or if it will be difficult to disconnect the line for lack of room or maneuverability, DO NOT PROCEED!(It will be just as difficult to reconnect when you're done) I do all flow tests, remove clothing from dryer, and move any obstacles in the path to where I'll be moving the dryer. If it is possible to maybe move the washer, or access the disconnection point without moving the dryer itself, that's perfect. (I prefer not to move the dryer while it's connected). Open windows, have extinguisher ready, locate shut off to the house (just to know where it is) , have the name and number to the gas company, have a gas line cap and tape, and obviously make sure no open flames are near. If the dryer is in a room that the door can be shut AND it has a window, I'd shut the door to limit the gas smell in the house. If if there's a fan handy, I'd position it by the window pointing out. Wear a mask. Unplug machine, turn gas line off (the dryer shut off, not the house), disconnect the line, cap the line, allow to ventilate. Clean the vent. If the smell is excessive, call gas company. Reconnect line, allow to ventilate. If smell is excessive, try your best to ventilate, if it's still not working, call gas company. If all is well, plug it back in, run your tests, complete the job.

      @jobswel-done1120  ปีที่แล้ว

      If the line or layout is long enough to do the job without disconnecting line, unplug the machine, turn line off, and proceed as normal.

    Hey how do u know when u reached the end of the vent? I would be worried about confusing the end for a clog and breaking it off at the other side.

    • @kruzedarling9347
      @kruzedarling9347 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also why don’t u use an air compressor setup? Wouldn’t you avoid all the issues with elbows?

    • @jobswel-done1120
      @jobswel-done1120  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A general rule is that 1 floor equals 10 feet. If you know the measurement of each stick, you can estimate how many sticks will get you to the end. Plus. I use variable speed drill as to not put too much torque on the brush. You’ll feel the resistance. I check the exit point when I get to this point.

    • @jobswel-done1120

      How far do you plan on going with this? Simply cleaning or installing vents? CDET looks good to HOA’s, and property management, but the average resident could care less. It does provide a lot of information and you’ll see the science behind the methods.

      The only issue that I've had with Holikme is user error, LOL. If there are multiple turns in a dryer run, any kit will give you issues. It's too much torque on the end being applied.

    You were not getting 20,000 cfm at the dryer. It was 200 cfm. The reading is 10x the actual number.
