  • Kalis Ilustrisimo Revealed Arnold Narzo
Arnold Narzo the Chief Instructor of Filipino Martial Art Kalis Ilustrisimo reveals how he started martial arts training, what he thought of Eskrima, and how he started Kalis Ilustrisimo. Are the stories about Tatang Ilustrisimo true? Has he ever needed to use his training? What's the future for the art?
Arnold Narzo was born on June 22, 1970 in Manila, Philippines. He started his arnis training with the legendary Antonio “Tatang” Ilustrisimo in 1993. Kalis Ilustrisimo has long been regarded as one of the most efficient and effective system of Filipino Martial Arts. After the death of Tatang, he continued his extensive training with the late Master Tony Diego along with other senior Kalis Ilustrisimo students.
Master Tony Diego designated Arnold Narzo as the Chief Instructor of Kalis Ilustrisimo Repeticion Orihinal (KIRO) base in the famed Luneta Park in Manila, Philippines. Arnold Narzo has experience in both tournament fighting and coaching.

    Good interview. Thanks for posting.
I always love hearing how genuine and humble Arnold is. No arrogance.
I laughed out loud for a couple of things: How Filipinos (my parents are from Ilocos) say "pang-pang" as the getting-hit sound effect. And also, not so funny, my dad, born in 1907, always having a steel pipe wrapped in newspaper under the seat of his car (in addition to always carrying his .38 S&W snub-nose, and a decent blade). Ilocanos, man... Always practical.

Master Arnold, my teacher in KIRO, is one of THE nicest and most humble men I know. And one of the most skilful too.
God Bless you Coach Arnold and your family.

Thank you Arnold and WMAT. I wish I could meet you Arnold in one of these days. I’m no martial artist but in my blood runs the ILUSTRISIMO. My roots were from Cebu and Sta. Fe in Bantayan. Lolo Tonio is from Kinatarcan ... and some natives knows there’s an underground tunnel from Sta Fe to Kinatarcan. The story he told about sword or bolo fight was once they called “sabong sa tawo” in reference to a “cockfight “.
Lolo Tonio would like to be called “Alulod” his maternal surname. He already ascended to Heaven and was very makulit during the waiting process..He was with his friend Atty. Adrian Escario, the Ex-Governor of Cebu and his eskrima sparring partner in Bantayan.
