    Amazing video! I’m curious if you’re considering teaching any mano mano techniques some time in the future! I would love to see how most stick work is adapted to hand to hand!

    I remember running into his dad in San Diego working at a barnes and noble. I was on break, reading a kali book with him on the cover, I look over and see him in the same isle. It was nuts!

    My friend trained with illistrisimo. His stories are wild. I trained a bit. That’s burton Richardson in Honolulu.

    Great video. His insight into the art is very deep for someone so young, takes after his father. I met his dad GM Topher once back in 99' when he visited our school in Makati. He was going around to visit masters of different FMA schools for a book he was writing. A very unassuming gentleman, did not even realize who he was until our instructor introduced him to the class. Before that, I only knew about his brother Ronnie the actor back then.

    Great pointers with keeping everything nice and compact within the four corners and the simplicity of the footwork and boxing boxing concepts. I also noticed the slight resemblance of European fencing within the short and snappy deflections with follow-ups, I would dare say that this system is heavily influenced by European fencing from past times and the blending of cultures. All in all, great presentation, thanks for sharing. Lol 😀👊🏼🙏🏼

    Hi! Arnis practitioner here! Just have a quick question! :) I studied Arnis in the Philippines and found a bit of shock when I see Arnis schools that incorporates belt rankings in Australia.
    I did Modern Arnis in PE and took an extensive course on it with a proper teacher because I loved it that much! Yet we did not look into belt rankings that much. But in Australia, some acts like it’s been there for a while.
    Now I’m curious if training in the Philippines might have some systems that does that. Or if you yourself has done that, DB! :D would love to read/hear your thoughts on it one day!

      All Filipino Escrima & Arnis are blades weapon arts. . . The stick is the training tool for safety, exactly as the bokken is a training tool for safely learning kenjutsu.

    i noticed that Guro Brandon does not use the original/traditional Ilustrisimo stance compare to other Ilustrisimo practioners, yun ba ang preferred nya?

    • @johnlloyddy7016
      @johnlloyddy7016 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yup. He explained it in the video. He had to modify his personal style of fighting because he is shorter and has a different body type than GM Illustrisimo who was taller and had longer arms. Tatang could afford to have a narrower stance because he could teach further easily, Guro Brandon needs a wider fencing/boxing like stance so he could dart in and out faster to compensate for his reach disadvantage. It kinda reminds me of the JKD stance.
