Writer and designer of Loom here! Thanks so much for covering the game 😃
> Expansions loading… 😉
This looks pretty fun and awesome, thanks!
Really liking the atmosphere of this game...
What an incredibly cool system. Wish it had a little more combat depth/gear etc but the way it generates everything is great. I'll be trying this.
This looks like another must-buy. Thanks for the review Daniel!
Hell of a title. Excited to see what's in store!
Agreed!
Boy this dude can write!
It’s good writing!
Thank you, Daniel. This game system looks like a lot of fun. I really enjoyed that you used a deck of Frank Frazetta "Death Dealer" playing cards--so thematic! ; )
Great video as always!! Good to see you enjoyed the game as well!! BTW you roll location for each point of damage, so that head-shot may not have killed you (unless you rolled head again for the 2nd damage point)!! 😁
I was wondering about that, but I made a quick rules decision on the fly. :)
You know how to showcase a game. I immediately went and picked up the PDF. Thanks Daniel! This looks awesome. On a side note, have you heard of Demonship? It's a rogue-like psuedo-wargame on a 6x6 grid. It may be a little light on exploration and random events but the small box design, emergent story, and sci-fi setting made me think it may be your style of game.
Looking forward to your next video!
Demon Ship looks super cool, but it's almost $100 with the terrain needed to play. A little out of my price range for the kind of game it is.
@@TheDungeonDive oh man. I thought the starter set came with cardboard terrain. I just took a closer look and it does not. It's out of my price range then too haha.
@@Fen12 Yeah - I'm surprised it doesn't. Seems weird to me. I'd be all over a cardboard version.
I just played Miru, Loom is my next pen and paper game.
I have read published Fantasy novels that have had less atmosphere.....a book would be an interesting move for the writer...?
Love the channel. I'm on the hunt for a deep and complex solo RPG that involves a lot of paperwork. Not journaling or prose writing, but more filling out forms/character sheets/inventories/maps, etc. Any recommendations? Thanks!
D100 Dungeon, Disciples of Bone and Shadow, or maybe Riftbreakers.
Thanks! @@TheDungeonDive
Are the PDF pages letter size (8.5x11) or zine size (5.5x8.5).?
Letter. Printing this in zine size would, for me, make the text far too small. There is a lot of text on each page.
I got just one question...
Where did you get those frank frazetta cards?😮
Amazon.
This is way too verbose with complex vocabulary (after seeing the first 2 minutes). You have to focus hard just to keep up with the text, and it's just too much. English is not my first language, so that might be why, but seriously, decrease the complex words vs common words count. I feels like you try to impress, it doesn't feel fluid and natural. I'm not trying to discourage the writer, but I think it needs to be said. I'm a game designer and I love when people come up with good criticism, helps you improve your work a lot, that's why I'm telling you my thoughts so directly. Other than that, the game itself seems really good, with very innovative and interesting ideas. Oh and at 20:00 the text is way better.
It's an affected style called Purple Prose. It's in the weird fiction genre with authors like Smith, Ligotti, Cisco, etc. I can see it being difficult for people without English as their native language, but it's written in English for English speakers, and it's very, very well written. One of the better written games I've ever come across. It totally nails the atmosphere.
Oh, ok then. I'm just not the target demographic for this game, and it's really ok. You cannot please everyone, and it's better like that, nobody should try to. I do niche games, I know what it is.
