    I'm in the "hope you are soon" stage; waylaid with illness. This is exactly what I needed today - enjoyed with a few cups of tea. I'm not aware of any other detailed reviews of We Deal in Lead, so your work here is genuinely appreciated - it's always great to learn a bit about the solo RPG process by hearing you think out loud.

      Get well! I was sick for like 4 weeks recently, and just started to really feel better a few days ago. I had this NEVER ending cough, and it sucked!

      Get well soon, buddy. I'm also feeling under the weather today and even had to go for a sick leave from work today, which I never do. Really don't like missing work as it feels like I'm letting people down but today it was just impossible 😢

    The Gunslinger is so weird because it's inspired by the poem Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came by Robert Browning (1852).
    There was no thought of this novel becoming a series until much later on. This one is tonally much different than what follows but does set the stage wonderfully for a strange world that has "moved on".
    To this day my absolute favorite is The Drawing of the Three followed closely by The Wasteland. These core 3 sit differently than the rest of the series. Its before it gets too big and sprawling is more focused in my opinion.
    You could even start the series with The Drawing of the Three and not really miss much that doesn't get a synopsis.

    A welcome video. Cairn is my favorite RPG rule set to solo. So I got We Deal in Lead thinking it was going to be perfect for that Shadows of Brimstone vibe, but I got side tracked. Have you tried Ironsworn: Badlands? I know you have some reservations about Ironsworn, but but using Badlands in a Shadows of Brimstone setting is just fantastic! Ironsworn: Delve is a must for exploring the mines and otherworlds and Hexcrawl is a must for the map, encounters and jobs. I highly recommend that you try it and then you could make a video comparing and contrasting the two rule sets.

    • @TheDungeonDive

      @@TheDungeonDive Really love the Dark Tower, both as a concept and as a work of fiction. I published the game on drivethru, ti's called "To the Heart of Reality", since it's based on the idea of having a quest that drives you to the center of all existence (rather than the events and characters of the series).
      It's my first work so it's not great, but thanks for the interest.

    I gather there's a large market for sci-fi and fantasy Daniel ,but I keep hoping for a people based Western ttrpg game - purely based on the many real and big figures and major events in that part of your history . ( Would also love a non sci-fi and non fantasy WW2 game focussing on your real service people and events too ) . Thanks for your work from Oxfordshire England .

    First off, great video, loved the intro as this sets up the play through perfectly!
    Never really been interested in this setting, but after watching this, has made me think twice 😊
    Also, what makes me love rpgs is the feeling of freedom in that ANYTHING can happen, as in your story, so cool that she turns out to be a werewolf(well almost a full time one!!) But in another story, that healer could of been in league with Rose, and could of sent you down some dark path to way lay you, or get you killed 😂
    Excellent video Daniel 👌😁

    • @AceneDean
      @AceneDean 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @TheDungeonDive I'm sorry to hear that. I'm exclusively a solo roleplayer and I love actual plays. I have tried numerous times to get into group actual-plays, but I just find them incredible boring. On the other hand, solo actual-plays are my favorite form of entertainment.
      I know solo campaigns tend to trail off in engagement as the videos progress. I hate that, because long-form solo campaigns are the absolute best.
      I do what I can to engage with them as much as possible to encourage their growth, but alas, I am only one person.

    I have ALWAYS thought The Black Tower would make an awesome RPG!!! However, this system aeems lacking in even as a basic system. We all have our own props and preferences but you actually have to supplement the game with additional information and resources that's an incomplete game...

    • @TheDungeonDive
      @TheDungeonDive  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Not at all. I can’t think of a single RPG I don’t supplement with other things. I love mixing and matching. But this has everything you need in a single book for solo or group play. I just choose to always have more options when I play, and like to show people neat things.
