Fun fact: During the early appearances of Tommy from MMPR to Turbo, he would be wearing short sleeved shirts or singlets. From Dino Thunder onwards, he would be wearing long sleeved shirts. This was because of Jason David Frank's tattoos on his arms later in life, and therefore they had to cover them up on screen.

That does not surprise me at all. They were always super corny characters, but they definitely had that theatrical style goofy flair whenever they interacted together and with the rangers. But they were always best together. Once they wrote Skull out of the picture, Bulk's scenes unfortunately got pretty boring (from what I've seen - I didn't consistently watch the shows over the years) without the presence of a second goofy character to bounce off of.

I was a 90s kid, and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was one of my favorite shows. I had a HUGE crush on Amy Jo Johnson. I stopped watching around the time Turbo came out. And yes, I totally agree with you Ryan about Tommy's debut, and the crazy hype around it. I still remember it, and it was amazing. Great storytelling.
I had no idea about the Super Sentai stuff at the time, so I thought it was all original. Also oblivious me did not notice any of the repeated scenes over each episode (except for the Morphing sequence, and the "make my monster grow!").

As someone who has seen every single episode of every season multiple times I was pleasantly surprised how well you covered this. Made me real happy to see that you cover it at all. If you ignore nostalgia MMPR is actually on the worse side of Power Rangers series. I definitely recommend people to give other seasons a chance, especially In Space, Lost Galaxy, Time Force, Dino Thunder, S.P.D., and RPM. Those are the series absolute peaks as far as writing, acting, and set design go. Also have to recommend the comics for those that want darker, more mature storylines. Very excited for Once and Always as a lifelong hardcore fan.

Jason David Frank was phenomenal to meet in person. He voiced a transformer in the Titan masters series that I think was done by IGN. My dad and I met him at a comic con and my dad was wearing transformers shirt. Jason stopped my dad before we walked away after the picture and he asked to see my dad’s shirt. Jason took a picture of my dad’s shirt to get one made with the transformer he voiced. It was so wholesome and cool to see Jason geek out over my dad’s shirt.

Incidentally the departure of the original blue power ranger Billy was in an episode titled ‘Blue Harvest’ which is of course the original working title of Star Wars 1977.

@screencrush I don't know if you knew this but Bat in the Sun was working with Jason David Frank's on their Super Beat Downs and even made a Legend of the White Dragon movie with him as the White Dragon (a what if the green ranger and white ranger powers were combined ranger)

it's kinda weird that a correction popped up when Ryan said "Scepter" instead of "Specter", but not when he said "Zero" instead of "Zeo".

While it is true that Masked Rider came out later after Power Rangers in the US I still wouldn't really call it a copy-cat when technically in Japan the Kamen Rider series came out first before the Sentai Series.
On another note what was fucked up is the fact that the actors barely made money on acting their part when the show made millions. Now that's just sad.

There was a brief time as a kid, where I thought Whitney sampled X-Men. To be fair I was born in the 90s & I saw the cartoon before learning the song

Holy!! I was today years old when I realized that they just used footage from Japan for a lot of the Ranger, Thunderzord and Dragonzord scenes and that the original Rita Repulsa’s voice was dubbed!! I always thought that was the actress real voice! My whole childhood was a lie

Power Rangers was the definition of Kitsch, camp and everything in-between. I less watched it because I lived it and more watched it because I couldnt believe it existed. Also Tommy was awesome.

I was born in 1999 so I got to experience the tale end of the 90s fads and my aunt worked at a home video store so I was able to watch tons of the classic power rangers on VHS, I used to be addicted to the franchise as a kid Dino Thunder is still my favorite

Although I was only born in 1995 and Dino Thunder was the first season I saw, it was a real rabbit hole that I fell into over the next few years. In the years that followed, I felt like I watched or read everything there was to know about Power Rangers and I also absolutely loved the game Super Legends. Even today, there are times when I still go back to my childhood. Tommy in particular was simply my favorite Ranger (thanks to Dino Thunder) and Jason's suicide was a shock to me. I know that this series is cheesy and over the top, but Power Rangers will always have a special place in my heart.

I watched MMPR as a teen in the 90s. Now I’m 45 and my 4 year old LOVES to watch a fan series done by a a group of kids on TH-cam.

My brother and i watched PR from the beginning. I even had a stuff yellow ranger while my brother have the black. he was more into it so he had the action figures and the zords. I fell off after ZEO and he fell off after Space. B PR will always have a place in my heart even the first movie is good to me. and i loved the reboot still pushing for a sequel.
