I am obsessed with the Succession soundtrack. The way the music is inserted into the drama is stunning. Nicholas Brittell is a genius for all the variations he composed.
The last time I searched for a soundtrack on TH-cam was for Andor. Turns out they're both Nicholas Brittel. And searched for the same reasons. The insane level of variations on a theme. He is a genius

Succession has been described as Shakespearean and indeed its a tragedy, however there is triumph in the music. Listening to it always makes me feel as if anything is possible. Invincible ❤

Perhaps the soundtrack of “Tales from the Loop” by Phillip Glass. It’s full of wonderful subtleties and shares the deep rich darkness present in Britell’s soundtrack here.

As a number of people have noted (here and elsewhere), this composition is based on first movement of Beethoven's Pathétique sonata. I also I think that the orchestration inspired by Philip Glass. The difference between the old masters' homages of other composers, when it's this significant, is that they tended to acknowledge up front, in the title of the piece. I have no problem with re-imagining music, especially of it can bring awareness of a genius like Beethoven, but please give credit where it's due. That being said, I still enjoy listening to this.
It's BEETHOVEN folks! The main theme is extracted from an 8 bar section of the 8th piano sonata, 'Pathetique' 1st mvt. Britell's work is brilliant ... but it's Beethoven.
That's the soundtrack I want for my funeral; playing on repeat all day. I also imagine the titles' song probably will start when the coffin is put on flames or just buried six feet under (I haven't decided yet). I'm also jealous of my funeral already with this MAJESTIC sounds falling down the sky. Music that makes heaven or hell a wonderful place, that's what us people need for food, food for thought.
I especially like the slightly reworked version of Andante Agitato / "The Raid" as it was used in Season 4, episode 3, combined with the sequence of the simultaneous helicopter / plane flight. Beautiful.
Vaulter... those strings... that ending with Kendall on the roof of the ATN building... chills. And then there's The Raid, of course. It resonates a bit less because I don't like s03 as much as I like s02, which is imo a complete masterpiece, but still... when it comes, you fucking feel it.
Start with harmony instead of melody. Create beautiful chord progressions akin Arnold Schoenberg and derive a melody from that. That is the power of this composition style.
In an endless sea of pain and suffering, some expected a comedy, some expected tragedy. Witness an empire downfall with a clown, with a snake, with a falsified king who has everything yet nothing.

This sound track conveys: Significance. Royalty. Family. Deception. Intrigue. Power. Greed. Ambition. But above all else, Sadness.
And this is how I feel whenever I start playing piano. I never had the words to describe it...this is it!
