More about Winter Survival (from Steam):
What was supposed to be a nice winter hike in the Mount Washington State Park with friends, turned into a dire situation. You are left alone to fight for your survival. With only marginal supplies you have to fight off of the cold, thirst, hunger, wildlife and your own state of mind while finding your way to an abandoned ranger station in hope to be able to call for help.
Winter Survival is a fully fledged survival game even going into Early Access, with dynamic combat, stealth, base building and its unique sanity system just to name a few. Multiple game modes and difficulties allow you to experience the game differently and tailor it to your taste.
Venture through snow-covered forests, mountains, and frozen lakes. Grapple with treacherous terrain, deadly animals, and harsh winter conditions. Find shelter, cook meals, and rest, ready to face the next day. Hope it won’t be your last…
Hunt or be hunted. Use the environment to your advantage. Observe your prey, study its behaviour, make and set traps to capture animals. Craft torches to scare away wolves. Make spears to throw at prey and protect yourself from apex predators that surround the area.
Gather resources, learn how to craft all sorts of useful things and build shelters and other structures to escape everyday struggles.
Some resources are easy to find, some are only available in certain areas, others have to be gained from hunting and some are left behind by those before you.
The extended crafting system ranges from simple campfires to cook food to building entire shelters and protective structures wherever you please. It is the crafting and building system that will allow you to slowly transition from unbearable danger to a more manageable environment - if you prepare properly.
Choose from:
Story Mode: Learn more about yourself and people long gone while you struggle to survive. Find your friends and get back home.
Endless Mode: Take advantage of more resources and crafting options as you try to conquer the world around you. Start and proceed how you want.

oh my god yes ill download it right now!
I’ve had it for a long time.
very cool video roland approves!
ok
Really good
There's something magical about the yes/no options at the start not affecting the outcome whatsoever
It's like Genshin Impact, except the options there are "yeah sure I'll help" and "Paimon is emergency food."
Yeah, in most games they at least acknowledge that you said no even if it ultimately changes nothing.
This game always strives for realism, even when it hurts.
Better then a dialog box asking you if you are sure about deleting something important, with only one option : "OK". I made that once accidentally, and it made into production.
@@andrasbiro3007That is amazing, I love it.
You see the game isn't about him surviving, its about everything else trying to survive him.

I'm still waiting for the day that Josh goes from breaking whatever game he gets his hands on to somehow breaking the site which sponsors him, Opera GX
"You fools, you thought you could tame me?!"

Does this mean the final boss is breaking TH-cam?
I'm going to watch it on opera gx
@@nobuffer101nah TH-cam has a stroke consistently

the fact that he keeps on getting sidetracked by creating his own side quests makes me chuckle
Josh made an absolute fool of this game, lol.

3:35 one of these days some dev studio should own up to all the clipping through floors and make the player enter the Backrooms when their game glitches out like this.
Would make for a great pr stunt anyway.
I like the failsafe that one Slenderman game used which broke the 4th wall and had him get you regardless.
This!

there is actually a game that does that. If you glitch out of the map it teleports you to the backrooms
@@darkwowplayer What is it? The Backrooms???
Can someone PLEASE make a compilation of Josh falling through the floor into the void in a bunch of different games?
15:56 what sorcery?! I always wondered if the voice over was recorded in post or while he was playing, or a mixture. What about his reactions to something unexpected happening, was it all a façade. Does Josh even have real emotions, or is he a psychopath incapable of experiencing true surprise?
Nah, he's just sentient
That went deep man
E
Probably a combination. The easiest way would be to record voice stuff while playing and then re-record the good lines in post for the final video.
i assume its a mixture
"Naked psychopath on a water fast found stoning wolves in the mountains"

Game dev meeting: "Well done, everyone, on all your long and hard work! This game is basically done! Let's just see what few bugs and breaks Josh may have found, and then we'll patch things up real quick and release!"
*After watching the video*
".....We basically have to start over."
E
Nah, this much is pretty normal in software development. Like showing a table of employees and forgetting to hide the salary column.
No kidding
One simple (yet utterly boring) fix is to just put invisible walls where one must not go. Also, the fact that nothing resets you if you fall below the map can't be excused. A simple script that kills the player if they go too far down shoudn't be too difficult
@@OperationDarksideOddly specific
It is a testament to many of the early access games that Josh plays, that they can handle his brand of... stress testing, without so many serious breaks as this one had.
Yeah. Usually he ends up breaking things by trying to find the limit. But this one was so naturally breakable he didn't need to resort to such brute force methods.
To be fair, most of the break of this game were a result of Josh skipping the tutorial, which the entire game depends on to progress but somehow nobody noticed it was so easy to bypass. They really needed Josh "testing" here.
This video was released what, like an hour ago, and it already has 80,000 views. This shows just how much this guy is loved. We love you josh.

22:30 - "that's okay; it only takes like 10 minutes to drag it over here" -- this would be hyperbole for some people; for Josh, that's real nonchalance.
Having Josh play one of your games is probably the best thing that could happen. So many games I've bought just because of how fun he's made them seem and so many I've enjoyed.

Seems to be a fine line for developers to get you to play with their games.. on one hand they get a bigger audience to see their games.. but the before mentioned audience sees you tear the game a new one :) love it :)
To be fair there's multiple games I've bought because I watched Josh break them so it probably works out for everyone concerned.
The way the world has turned, the only type of entertainment that really holds any value is the unexpected. With games like this, the unexpected lies just slightly off the beaten path, and Josh knows right where to look.
Surprisingly, it's because of Josh that I even purchased Satisfactory in the first place.
He breaks the games so horribly that it's nearly impossible for him to spoil the game when played normally.
He gives them great Feedback. Joshs insane patience and determinantion are what significantly helped Satisfactory to become one of the genres best optimised games
I would love to see videos of devs reacting to your videos after you play their games. 😂

Little disappointing that josh and Grey don't team up, but they do have a kind of single player madness niche going for them.😔
@BlueTeam-John-Fred-Linda-Kelly 😮 don't wish that on a poor game 🙀
GrayStillPlays is a gamer who will test the game to its absolute limits, with unusual talent and supernatural effort. Josh is GrayStillPlays after a doctorate in game design, 30 years in the field, and a year of being retired and bored out of his skull.
Josh turning "Winter Survival" into "Winter Unsurvivable" is the content I live for! 😂 Keep wreaking havoc, legend!

That yes/no choice at the beginning having no effect whatsoever, is just like every election in my country. 😂
never have i seen someone so consistently make me laugh, or so consistently shatter reality
Now we know why "The Long Dark" doesn't have a jump button
You know... I've been watching LGIO for manyyyy a year but I have to say, this is one of like... 4 channels that I've only recently realized that I've religiously watched every single video and every single video is in my likes and favorites. Lol. I have probably also seen each video a minimum of 3+ times as well. Some of these videos... They just bring me out of any sort of dreariness that life flings at me.
Thanks, Josh! ❤
I only watch him for 2 years or so i guess, but i can agree with you. It's just something about his tone of voice and the way he describes his journey in every video that makes it so damn enjoyable. It's really rare that i can say that there is no bad video on a channel, but this is one of them.
10:10 "Can my soft flesh handle this?"

Josh, I'd find it awesome if you played Wobbledogs. You can break the game in all sorts of wacky ways.
I second WobbleDogs. You an make a Dog Centipede.
I think he did play it on stream, just didn't make a vid for it.
Josh have you tried to put your backpack on the marker and then picking it up? The backpack is unique, considering the game tracks it's whereabouts and doesn't allow duplicates. The quest should trigger due to some condition "is close to marker and picks up backpack" or something along those lines, I'd assume. Could be worth a try.
Ah yes, the bubbling romance between the deity-beast Josh and the eyebrows-beauty Joel.
Also I’d do anything to watch Josh break The Long Dark considering how scarily realistic it is; it’ll be like watching an otherworldly being pretend to be human navigate against the very rules of survival on Earth.
I really love how the game is "This is how you play"
Josh is like "I'm sorry you feel that way" and proceeds to play the game backwards, sideways and any other way but the "right" way.
He keeps breaking physics so hard even quantum physicists is going "Hmmm, that's crazy... But still genious"
I chose this game as my first ever computer game to play after many years of holding back and trying to choose the perfect one. Carefully following your guidework I thought I would have an enjoyable time but instead I just got a lot of respiratory infections and met a guy named Ed, and then some stuff happened that I've been warned I should not speak about.
My friend says I should have started with The Sims instead.
