I’ve caught a lot of whitefish in the Salmon River by Stanley. They always tend to stay deep, more so the offer ones, and I’ve never had one jump. I feel they do fight different from trout but are still fun to catch

Whitefish is a really nice fisk to eat. In Sweden smoked whitefish is a delicacy👌

I've never had smoked fish from Sweden sounds good. I've had a few different kinds here in the states, and dried fish in Iceland. None have been a disappointment.

A couple of things. Whitefish are delicious but I would never eat a slimy trout! Learn to double haul and save your elbow. Carp, NO fkn way would I ever land one, I'd cut the line first. I will be floating that area this year and hope to do as well as you. Good video and a new sub.

Hey whitefish aren’t trash fish! Their presence indicates a healthy & clean river. I target em on the Little Salmon cause they’re so much fun to catch, especially when the trout aren’t biting.

I'm with you on that, I think I said "some people call them trash fish" Most of the time while fighting the fish it's hard to tell if it's a trout or a whitefish, so yeah fun!

People can be ignorant and just parroting what they hear. Carp are another victim of this ignorant mentality. carp fights a lot harder then any trout wil0l

I've driven past that spot a few times and never fished it because I thought it was too pressured given how many vehicles I've seen parked there. I'll have to stop and give it a go after watching this. Looks like you hiked a bit away from the bridge, so maybe I'll do that. thanks for the video.

When I looked at this area on the map I saw the same thing you did, probably a spot that gets a lot of pressure. You're spot on I did hike around a couple of bends after fishing the bridge area. Next time I'll try to drift this river to get into untouched areas. Thanks for the comment, and let me know how you do there.

fyi...place the whitefish vertically nose down in the net. press it lightly against the bag. you will feel the shakes abate to the point it's calmed down so you don't have to squeeze the snot out of it. way easier to unhook. spend some time reviving the wonderful creature. thanks.

About 30 ears ago I caught a state record whitefish out of that stretch of water. I didn't report it because I didn't want my name associated with a record trash fish. The fish measured over 30 inches. It was caught on a size 14 Muskrat nymph.

LOL, It's funny how the white fish is looked at because in all reality they fight similar to a trout and get just as big or bigger. I don't think I would report it either. It's like having the record for the largest carp in my book, no thanks.
