Glad your back! I love your videos. So I was fly fishing in a spring fed river earlier in the spring and nobody in the camp ground was catching anything. I decided to put a lure on a bait casting rod after 2 days of being skunked. Second cast I caught a HUGE brown trout. The guy camping next to us saw me catch it and later told me I was "cheating". Thanks for teaching me how to cheat! Much more fun.
haha! That's great! I'm glad you got on a big brown. Would love to see a picture of it sometime. If you're able to, check us on on Facebook and send a message. Thanks for sharing that story!
@@royrobbings thanks for watching! If you’re coming this fall or winter make sure to check out those videos as we fish totally different during those times
Super helpful! I know exactly where I’m heading this week :) (hopefully) also, do you find fish are super active right before a storm? I’ve caught my PB right before one, just a thought
Good luck if you get out! Send us an update! And yes, I do think they’re typically more active before a storm. And I figured you would know that area. Not too far from you?
Great video and info! I just subscribed. I do have a couple of questions, what size Inline Single Replacement Hooks are you using on your SR-5 and which size PLUSINNO Fishing Net do you use 11.8" or 19.7"? Thanks in advance!
Love your videos and theyve really inspired me to fish more. Im fishing the Boise river a few times a week now. Mostly catching small rainbows and a ton of white fish. Need to get that rapala. What part of the river do you fish most?
Great video and super informative! Thank you. Do you switch out your treble hooks to single hooks for catch and release purposes or is that a rule on the Boise River?
Hey thanks for watching. It’s not required on this stretch but I do like how it is easier on the fish and hook ups are similar to if not better than trebles.
Awesome thank you. I’ve been getting out some lately locally near where I live on the Boise River learning how to trout fish again. And on July 26th I caught a 19 1/4-19 1/2 inch Brown. My very first Brown on the river. And then last week I caught an 18 1/4 inch rainbow. Anyways I’ve been want to capitalize on the fishery near me. I came across this video and thought I would give some Rapalas a try. They’re hard to find locally. I guess I’ll have to order some from Tackle Warehouse online.
@@OLDHATOUTDOORSThanks! I was pretty stoked to have that type of success. Meanwhile my father in law has been skunked every time on the Boise. I shared this video with him. So he went out and bought some Rapalas. Every time I go into Cabelas they’re always out of the right colors in the SR5’s.
Hello! I noticed you are often fishing in less popular areas (tubing, other fisherman) can you still catch these kind of fish ijn the downtown area (Up/Down river of the stadium).
I fish in town a lot but during the main floating season I usually go downstream of most of the floaters. More peaceful that way. However, a majority of my fishing the rest of the year is right in town.
Hey, my name is Chad I just moved here from Florida to Eagle, Idaho with my wife I lived in the Florida Keys, my whole life, I am charter captain fly fish for a perm at bonefish. We blue marlin fish to all over the world and I’m just trying to learn the river here I live downtown Eagle I’m in fishin The Boise behind my house a little bit caught some nice rainbows, and a few browns your videos are awesome, I’d love to get together and fish with you sometime. If I could just trying to learn the area man let me know if you’re capable of doing that.
Hey Chad. Welcome to Eagle! There's some great fishing to be had in that area with a lot of rainbows and browns! I will be out of the country until mid September and then I'll be trying to shoot an elk but I will be more free as it gets closer to winter (after the browns spawn). If you are able, please reach out via Facebook or instagram and shoot us a message.
I've used hooks from a company on Amazon called Laxygo for the past 3 years. Never had 1 problem. Unfortunately I buy packs of like 30-50 so I'll toss all the ones I have as to not risk it with future hook ups.
I always enjoy your videos and you catch some really nice fish but have you ever met a guy I think he goes by the name of fishin fool he catches some of the biggest brown trout out of the Boise I have ever seen and a lot of them and big rainbows and he killed it on the salmon this year he custom makes all his baits.
The fly shops in the area are incredibly helpful. I prefer Idaho Angler off Vista Ave. In town, nymphing is key. Euro or indicator with perdigons through deep slots with right water speed.
Hooked my biggest trout to date on the Boise River today, all thanks to this video. A native too! Used a Rapala SR-5 (Brown trout)
Wow! That’s awesome to hear! Thank you for sharing!
Been waiting for a while glad that your back and making amazing videos ❤
Appreciate that!

I don't know the exact size but it's for sure not the 11.8" so I'd go with the other one.
And regarding the hood I use both size 8 and 6. Most of my raps have size 6 though.
Appreciate the comment!

Hey I appreciate that! I fish from Barber Park to Middleton but typically skip the areas where all the floaters are in the summer.
@OLDHATOUTDOORS thats a lot of river. I fish mostly Eagle Rd to Star River Ranch. Hopefully we bump into eachother one day
@@brettbrown4496 please say hi if we do.
Hope you hook into ol number 7 good luck 👍👍🎣
Me too!
thanks for another awesome informative vid bro
How do you attach the rapala to the line? Is there a specific knot you use?
I use the palomar knot for most situations
What’s the best live bait? I should be drifting the Boise river with right now. On a float rig
What do you mean by live bait? Live minnows are not allowed in Idaho. You could use worms if you'd like to use bait.
