- Tired of waiting forever for your VMware snapshots to complete? Well, I've got a little trick up my sleeve that will make those waiting times a thing of the past. Get ready to hack your way to faster snapshots!
Add these lines to the .vmx file for improved snapshot performance.
mainMem.ioBlockPages = "4096"
mainMem.iowait = "0"

Thank you! The version I use does not have snapshot, but this solution also works for the "Suspend Guest" function.
thanks for sharing, just want to check you, i installed windows server 2022 on vmware workstation on a desktop (coire i7) SATA drive, it took 5mins. When i installed on esxi on a rack server (DL360 G9 - SSD Raid0) it took 10mins. what view on that?
Unfortunately there is more to it than that, likely has to do with secure disk and encryption on the ESXi host.
@TechworksOnline so 10mins is normal or is it too slow?
@@sunnylm2045 it is slow, How much memory and disk space does the VM and is it a hi disk activity machine?
@TechworksOnline there are plenty of Memory, the sever is 384GB RAM, it the first VM one esxi but during installation I can see there is high disk activity, the two SSDs are samsung brand 120gb and configure as raid 0
have you attempted this workaround ? Yes I would say 10 minutes is a long time for a snapshot to occur
