    I have over 10years living with hybrids including legendary Prius and if u buy the hybrid to save fuel, think again( not that much difference, cause fuel saving is 80% driving style & 20% the technology can offer). Those manufacturer figures, just add 7-10% for real world figures if u hyper mile drive it. However, the exciting thing Is the hybrid instant torque( much better than RPM depended turbos in-real world).The core of hybrid is environmental benefits from less CO2 per kilometer. The last positive of hybrid ( particularly Toyota/Lexus) is undisputed reliability.Anyway, expecting better fuel in any SUV ( terrible wind coefficient design) is a pipe dream. 2010 Prius (Gen3) had a ,25 wind coefficient hence its polarizing looks( which I still luv madly).Good vid lady..

      Any direct comparisons you'd care to make between the Corolla Cross and the Jolion? That's basically the choice for us right now, but my wife doesn't like the mesh sunroof that comes standard in their top model, which is the one I'm interested in. I think you expressed similar annoyance with one of your recent reviews, I forget which model now.

    Great review, objective information. I wonder what the standard non-hybrid variant delivers in terms of fuel consumption. Read somewhere that the petrol engine requires an oil spec of 0W-16 synthetic.😅Like water. Still a good package. Was watching the Dakar 2024. The Audi team' vehicle uses a parralel hybrid,the engine Is putely a generator, topping up the battery. The consensus is it used appropriately 1/3rd less fuel for the equivalent HP output.

    With the Toyota brand name and that price, the price of the VW T-Cross makes less sense than ever. VW really needs to relook at that vehicle and it's pricing.

    • @valyria13
      @valyria13 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      While I adore this Corolla Cross, I actually disagree. I’ve driven both, and can comfortably say I made the best choice (for myself) with my T-Cross 1.5 R-Line. Monthly instalments were about a R350 difference, which (again for me) made the T-Cross more worth it.

    • @valyria13
      @valyria13 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@josh3221ify tbh not enough for me to justify the Corolla Cross over the T-Cross. Sure it’s definitely a subjective view. Drive both cars and tell me how different they feel.
      The kick down of the T-Cross is superior. The Corolla Cross felt a little bit choked/sluggish on the kick down. Turbo v NA I guess.
      The T-Cross was a far superior drive in my opinion. The VW DSG box vs the CVT of this car is a far nicer drive. And when you spend most of your time in a car, you look for these things.
      I took both on quite a lengthy test drive, and found myself missing something in the Corolla Cross. Wasn’t sure what it was until I got into the T-Cross.
      Don’t get me wrong, the Corolla Cross was a smooth drive and it’s stunning to look at, but for me the T-Cross won. Hence the reason I bought the T-Cross over the Corolla Cross.

      @@sexpistill Jolion was also a good ride honestly. But it’s the uncertainty of the brand that worried me. I know a lot of people that have been happy with the Haval experience. But just as many people that have had nightmare experiences.
      I do agree though. VW will need to do something to their pricing structure to stay relevant. As reliable as that badge is - Toyota, Mitsubishi and Hyundai have the same trusted reliability.

    Toyota sold 1,757 of them in the first month after launch, so their popularity cannot be denied. However what could have been a truly great vehicle is let down by an absolutley awful dashboard - I mean who designed that centre stack? An amateur? Time the gloss black trim disappeared for good too. Then there's the interior, black carpets, black seats, black seat belts, black door panels, black headliner, black dashboard, and not a contrasting colour stitch in sight. That's about as bland and unattractive as you can get, but I see there is a Terra Rosa option on this model. I'm not a fan of the sad-faced grille either.

    Must say the Haval Looks more premium to the corolla. The back seats looks like an old Datsun that stood in the sun. Surely after all these years toyota could make better seats. But the toyota engines are the best. Surely better than Ford.

      e-CVT in the hybrid, which is a different system altogether. Toyota has been using it in their hybrids for 25 years, and perfecting it with every iteration. That's why.

    Toyota's interiors have and will most likely always be boring and uninspiring.

    Poor review. Nothing about the drivetrain experience.

    Once again an awful CVT transmission.
