Explains why bug holes start sending scouts when running by instead of crouching...among other things. Of course those with a Swedish military background could deliver an experience like this with those crisp reloading animations, beefy gunfire sounds and being able to fire off your last round because the mag's not there! Something I don't think third person shooters do all that often or at all. Arrowheads's one Hell of a team
That "last bullet in without the magazine" thing blew my mind when i experienced it. At first i didn't realize
@@_d-- Tripped me out during bug ambushes seeing your character run without a mag in, and the old favorite, getting attacked just before you pulled the charging handle of the rifle/machine gun. They didn't miss a step with the "small" things that could go wrong aside from attacking an objective with only one round left for the Autocannon...
I wish they had asked about reloads. They seem to have a few steps to complete instead of just finishing the animation. I swear a lot of times my reload gets interrupted all I missed I was pulling back the charging handle, so it only takes a tiny animation to complete
@jewunit113 every mag fed weapon seems to have at least four distinct states to the reload animation.
Remove old mag.
No mag, but round in chamber.
New mag, ready;
And new mag (empty. Need charge).
As soon as the old mag is out, even if you havent thrown it away yet, the weapon is now "emlty" unless you hsve a round in the chamber.
As soon as the new mag is in, the weapon is "reloaded", but needs to be charged if run fully dry. Some weapons need to be charged on a new mag even if you had a round in the chamber.
The only other game I have seen with a loading animation sequence this nuanced was SOCOM US Navy SEALs, which was developed in partnership with the US DOD.
The sound is pretty mediocre. Guns don't sound beefy at all, what are you talking about?

It's so awesome that a dev and even the CEO played with you. The boys and I played so, so much of the first helldivers and to see them make this game is insane and for the devs/CEO actually play the game is so cool
As a former US Army armorer, I think I know what happened to the M240.
The M240 has a compound drive spring. Multiple springs coiled up into a single spring. The tension of this spring is part of what regulates the fire rate, infantry configurations of the m240 have a lower max rate of fire than vehicle configurations and especially multi-mount configurations like in an anti-air battery.
If the story hadn't ended with "and then the guide rod snapped" I would have assumed that his gun had got a vehicle or aircraft drive spring installed on a refit. Since the drive rod snapped, what I think happened is that one of the component springs of the compound drive spring failed, causing rhe coil to provide less resistance, causing the gun to briefly fire faster before the mechanical failure.
More likely his gas regulator was set to the higher rpm, wasn't cleaned and continued to foul creating a rate the spring couldn't compensate for which shatrered the rod. Especially likely if he was using BFA+blanks
@@olliehughes6774 Wouldn't that restrict the flow more?

I'm glad Johan still does interviews in game. Loved watching him play magicka back in the day, enjoyed this
Former M240 Bravo gunner and GWOT veteran here. The reason why the M240 was shooting 1000 rpm is because the gas regulator was set to 3. Standard operating procedure for the M240B in the US Army is setting it to 2, which is more like 600 rpm. The weapon was put reassembled without paying attention to the gas regulator from the sound of it. More maybe Swedes love their blicka going fast.

1. Bugs can see and hear, but some variants like the Stalker can "smell" you and will find you no matter what
2. Orbital Gas Strikes have a large area of effect and can be used to destroy eggs
3. They would like to add a first person drop in view for the hellpod
4. If bots scramble your strategem you can check the left hand of the screen to see what you are going to throw
5. You can toss grenades back at bots
6. The "hearing" mechanic used in the game makes sprinting much louder to the enemies as opposed to crawling or crouching
7. Explosions and gunfire attract enemies
8. If you break line of sight of bots for 4 seconds they will start to search in the area you were last seen. Great way to displace and break contact using smoke or spores
thanks for this dude but you forgot one. Its here at the first part 1:50 and the devs said, right after you land and immediately spawn your equipment, it attracts the patrols to search the area
Explains why Hunters and Stalkers follow you till the end of the map, their role in the hive actually fits with their name not just functionally but biologically as well
Plus using smokes or spores against bots, bec ofc they use scanners to detect and they actually think like robots, calculations, estimations and logic etc.
8a. Bugs and bots will search around for 30 seconds and then will do the following: Bugs will spread out into a search pattern while bots will shoot at your last known location despite not actually knowing where you are.
9. Hellpod drops after the first attract patrols as mentioned by @maliketh2951
10. Certain enemies are killed more easily by shooting off a leg rather than body shots, so experiment. (Ex.: charger & chainsaw [head is best for chainsaw but it is VERY small])

The care and attention they put into every small aspect of the game really shows. It’s a great game, and I bet this genre is going to blow up like battle royal games on the back on HD2s success, which may be unfortunate for HD2 in the long run, but this game will certainly be one of the legendary co-op games of all time. It’s truly great, and has incredible potential to get even better- they just need to keep fixing and refining the stability issues, but for a non competitive game I can see how that’s not at the top of the list.
The genre is going to blow up? The co-op horde shooter, a genre that has been around for decades? Deep Rock, DarkTide/Vermintide, Left 4 Dead/Back 4 Blood? That genre?
The totally new and never before seen co-op horde shooter genre, yes of course....
The last biggest one was lf4 and the other games you mentioned barely scratched 50k, not to downplay those games since they're great but nowhere near what HD2 achieved, DGS is amazing and has a relatively big player base still of 30k while games like darktide and vermintide barely maintain 5k at least that's what steamchart show so in a way the guy is right, its been awhile since a genre like this blew up.@@LoganChristianson

Only 1 afaik. The IP was sadly part of the publishing contract and Paradox dropped them as developers right after it came out. That's why they had to invent a new IP. Still turned out well, I guess.
13:50 “the community will change names to things”
Indeed. I never called Hunters “Hunters”, I’ve always called them Flankers because they have the game mechanic to flank around you while you focus on one of them in a group. It’s a great mechanic that adds an extra layer of detail and challenges.
My current list for bugs:
Scavengers: Roaches
Hunters: Flankers
Brood Commander: Queen
Little jumping bugs: Crickets
My list for Atomatons:
Fucker 1
Fucker 2
Flare fucker
Big fucker
This fucker
That fucker
Missile fucker
AT-AT
Or I’ll just call them Clankers.
I like how everyone universally agrees that the Scout Strider is just an AT-ST. Also I love your naming convention for the bots, as it very closely mirrors mine when a whole circus of them are running me down. 💀
lol
I call the scavengers ankle biters. For the rest, I mostly call them what the devs named the enemies. Haven't really thought of nicknames despite dropping 127hrs into the game now.
There's that heavy automaton that I call "the Dreadnought" because it looks like an Imperial Dreadnought
I call the chargers the rhinos bc they look like rhinos lmfao
@@blackviper5093 you know what, you’re absolutely right, they do!
10:36 I love how this game handle the smaller details like reloading the gun isnt just a timer, if you cancle your reload mid way you still have to pull the handle if you fire all rounds
Helldiver 1 was my first game on the ps4 and it will always have a special place in my heart, it was so cool to see one of my favorite games blow up this hard and I couldn’t be more happy for the devs and for democracy of course
Speaking of alternate community names, my friends call the bunker doors that require 2 people "friendship doors"
That's the only approved name for those doors. Use of any other name for them should be reported to your nearest morale officer.
my group of buddies always call them "LEGO Star Wars doors" because there are so many doors in those games that require both players to pull a lever at the same time
We call them buddy bunkers
When one of the devs said he played yesterday a few games just to see how the community was enjoying the game. Spoke volumes as to why this game is successful.
I agree, it's a great attitude to have and helps keep in touch with the game and the community.
A very small detail that I have yet to see in other "games that I played by the way." Bullet casings will pile up on the ground instead of disappearing through the ground like magic. I really appreciate that level of detail when I'm swimming around the bullet casings from my own gun after shooting off and killing a patrol.
Game devs that are actually involved in their game and enjoy their own work.
They've got the true heart of a gamer, as it should be.
Thanks for sharing.
Wow. Operator Drewski diving into battle with the actual President of Super Earth. What a legend. For Democracy. 🇺🇸
FOR SUPER EARTHHHHHH

You Lucky Bastard!!!
😂😂
I love the comradery in Helldivers, people online definitely helped me get started(every sample I've ever collected has been looted off my corpse though)
This is awesome, love to hear the background conversation as to the reasoning for some of the game's systems, and the dev/CEO having fun with their own game.
Question though, was this on the previous patch? You're exposing Charger leg armor without holding unsafe rail mode for the high charge %, just seemed like a surprise. Thank you!
12:50 all the bot conscripts can still call for reinforcements still. i've seen the commissar, the jetpack one, and a normal soldier use the flare (even just today)
I wish the bugs had more time between calling for a breach, and one responding. By the time you see the orange smoke, it's too late to stop it, whereas with the bots, you can see the flare light up before it's shot up and can still stop it.
I suspect this is a bug that no one until now has realized it was so.
@@charlestwoo Been discussed since release day.
@@vedritmathias9193 Not even. I've seen the bots point the flare gun up, I kill them before they fire. There's NO flare in the air.
BOT DROP DETECTED
Like huh??!?!?!
Every small bot can call reinforcements and all small/medium bugs can call more breaches.
I hope the devs read the comments on this video. I want them to know that this is hands down the best game I've played in years. Every part of it is amazing. The graphics, the gameplay, the lore, the aesthetic, progression, and especially the music is absolutely top notch. Thank you so much for making a great game.
When the CEO and Devs are badasses, love and know what they do it's only natural to get a masterpiece.
They along with a couple of other titles singlehandedly revived the modern gaming era before it completely got crushed.
This is gonna be one of the coolest interviews ever well done
love seeing op drewski out here with the bosses :)
I love the dynamic chaos that happens in this game. The moment at 30:11 had me rolling when the dropship flew up and got shot down and then exploded next to the base which caused it to blow up as well. It's awesome how crazy things can get.
Seeing the devs that made this game laugh like children and actually enjoying a game they created shows exactly why this game is so loved. They made a game that they would enjoy and have fun playing. Love these creators, keep up the good work!
Havent played helldivers yet but love they are out shining all the main studios and corps, respect!
At my age, that level of gameplay is so far beyond my abilities. Gratz to all of you who can do that. 👍
My butt perked up when I saw you upload 😊 Thank you for filling me with joy OperatorDrewski

HUH?
Ayoo?
WAIT! WHAT?! I’ve got a NEW COMPLAINT!
bro?
This is just so insanely cool. Not only that you are doing like, extreme missions, but then also having sort of a casual talk with devs and CEO, interspersed with occasional team kills and the "Do you have the Hulk?" - "I have everything!" sort of panicked undertone. It's just such a good mix of things, and it pretty much sums up the Helldivers 2 experience. thank you for this vid! Also thank you to the whole Dev Team for connecting with the community. The insights in this video were amazing, and I never enjoyed spreading democracy more than in HD2!
I am literally loving every second of this game, other than the very rare bug of me clipping into a rock or falling through the map
I heard the og red alert I loved that game back in the day still do. and I love helldivers 2 it nice to see all the hard work they putting into it and wanted to say keep up the amazing work
The more I hear from the devs the more i enjoy hearing about them. Such a great game, such great devs.
Thank you Drew, for sharing. I am so excited that you got this opportunity!
seeing an active CEO and Developers of a game makes it all the more amazing to play! To have the creators playing their own project with their community just shows how passionate they are about it!
Super cool to see devs step into the fight! See you at the creek!
This is awesome, I just got my cast off my arm so i can start playing in about a week. Can't Wait. Keep Diving.
It’s amazing seeing the devs actually enjoying there game and listening to the community and basing it off experiences that they have had, also would love to see them add some melee weapons or attachments like a bayonet
The first game had a few melee weapons. So it's definitely possible we'll see it sooner rather than later.
i want a melee mech
Wh40k imperial guard: FIXXED BAYONETTS!
@@chilliewhk I've played Helldivers as recently as today and it does not have any melee weapons, what are you on about? It's only on the bannerart for the game.
@@LethalOwlThey do have bayonets for some of the weapons, which is maybe what he was talking about?
I'd love to see them add Bug Tunnels. I think that would really add elements of terror to fighting the bugs
i would love to see a mission that just has players exploring a big cave with alot of tunnels and the objective is to eliminate a big enemy for example a queen ant like enemy. every time they clear a section, a team of A.I diggers dig a hole so that reinforcements can come and help. what do you think?
@@7HatimF16 That could be really cool! There could be specialty drop pods designed to dig down as well!
@@rynncarthis3739 something like deep rock galactic?
NOT THE VIET CONG TUNNELS
@@Tax_Collector01viet erminid tunnels*
I like the "WOOO" when they just dodge something or like barely make it to extract like at the end of the video. Really shows that they know what they are making and can enjoy it just like everyone else.
a 7:27 i've actually heard about this happening from Zach Hazard on the campfire stories, and how he cut the trigger finger off his glove so that wouldn't happen. amazing that the Dev on this game say that it happened to him
Funny thing when hearing Patrik and Johan, i was like "Sounds swedish" I wasent aware Arrowhead Game Studios made Helldivers 2, which is swedish X)
There's a reason why Sweden in the center of the Super Earth logo!
@@Roxfox Oh, i havent even noticed as i dont currently play Helldivers 2 ^^, alot of fun to watch though
same, though i didnt pick up on it until after they said they were, but i can hear it now.
I can literally hear the "jaaa mÿcket bra!" xD
Why do they birth so many fun games? OG Swedish Dice was my childhood
@@Roxfoxthe box art theme is Blue and Yellow too, swedens flag
These guys reminded the whole gaming industry how it’s done. Class act. 10/10.
Hearing the laughter from the devs with all the hilarity and shenanigans of the game is amazing, it’s awesome to see they really made this game the way that they enjoy
Let’s gooo more helldivers.
11:50 i swear the second you see the smoke from a bug breach it's already to late 95% of cases, comapred to robots they instastly swarm up
Yeah the bug smoke needs another 2-3 second delay to actually make it manageable imo
If you see the smoke they see the smoke. You need to take them out before they start farting up a storm.
