This looks like it’s been all cut up from a movie. It’s like it tells a huge story in three and a half minutes. This hits different than anything ive ever seen or heard. Literally found Zach’s work tonight and I’m so glad I did.
"That small town bar scene Where small vices kill your big dreams" To anyone who hasn't grown up in these small, sub 600 resident towns, these lyrics are incredibly true. It's so easy to be the king of a small town. All you have to do is visit us and all we talk about is the good old days. Small accomplishments that we will never stop talking about because we never accomplished much else. Some of the deepest, most intelligent and talented people never find expression in their genius because they are drowning in alcohol in a small town.
hit the nail on the head their brother. I might be over sharing, but I remember leaving my small town to go on and pursue a career out of town. When I came back I visited the very bar I had left, and was eager to share my experiences and success. When I walked in, the exact same people were sat drinking the exact drinks talking about the exact same stories, the same they had made 15 years ago. It was a bitter pill I had to swallow. No one cared as to what I had done, infact I would say they were jealous, as someone had actually tried to better themselves and be more than what tradition had to offer. Others wont understand what thats like, but its something I have to now live with, feeling like an outsider when I come home to the place I grew up. Music like this helps, and although I may have left the town to start life elsewhere, the town never really left me, and I will continue to hold that flame inside no matter what I do.

As a 45-year-old war veteran, I’ve lost every relationship and failed at everything. One day, I was crying in bed and prayed to God. I told Him I had nothing to offer but my broken heart. He spoke to me, saying, “It’s okay to fall apart, I’ve got you.” Then He said, “I’ve got amazing things in store for you, just trust me.” 3 weeks later Seeing my life turn around for the good and God using Teresa Janette Brock, who changed my life. After reading about her, I found her website and reached out. Her kindness led me to a business venture I never imagined I’d enjoy. Her guidance gave me a new sense of purpose and community. Now, I feel more fulfilled and happier than ever. This song and Teresa’s influence have been true blessings in MY life...[
As a man who has long double braids, and being with a woman who closely resembles this woman in the video, this one hits really close to home. So much so that the hair on my arms is still standing. And that is why Zach Bryan plays though my speakers consistently. Love the music, nay, art you provide to us. It is appreciated, loved, and absorbed like no one could imagine.

The most tragic Zach Bryan song anywhere from American Heartbreak onward, perfectly capturing the deep sadness of being a few years out of high school and having seen people's dreams crushed in real time. I wish this had a seven-minute version, because it feels like the story only barely gets started in the two verses that are on here and then is abruptly cut off, but this is still easily a 9/10 for me.
But. I think the "cut short" fits the vibes. Bc it, life, goes by soooo fast. Like the famous Good Will Hunting line.. "Tomorrow I'm gonna wake up, and I'll be 50.."..
Cool bro how did you contribute? I’m just curious? I would love a job like that well it wouldn’t even be a job. If you’re having fun, I do it for free.

Zach, you won't see this comment, but this story is exactly what happened with me and a girl I knew and loved. The only difference is the "Oklahoma" part. I really hope he makes a music video for Tishomingo, No Cure, or ‘68 Fastback. I feel the story telling in these songs leaves an opening for a great video
She used to play in the yard and she would dream of one day 'Til the world came around and took her dreaming away Told her how to dress and act and smile Well, damn. That made me cry.
If this were a book or a TV miniseries, I'd be all over it. The story is perfectly set up: The young, smart girl next door filled with potential living in small-town Oklahoma, her loyalties torn between her childhood friend who's gentle and respectful but has a chip on his shoulder due to his indigenous background, and the racist, muscle shirt-wearing good ol' boy with irresistible charisma. As those rare opportunities to make something of life in the dead-end patch of dust they call home come and go, she finds herself faced with a choice between the two that will have consequences beyond what she imagined. It'd be a story rife with poignant themes of love, nostalgia, small-town life, overcoming fear, and facing the truth, and driven by the physical conflicts between the two men and the introspective conflicts within herself, all coming together to create a picture of the American heartland for good and for bad. It'd be a magnificent character study and there isn't much I wouldn't give to see or read it.

I don't really even like country all that much but this is legit. Reminds me of most of my childhood and watching my friends relationships... Jeez what a random bunch of memories
This song always reminds me that everyone had someone they loved and had to let go. Everytime I listen to it, I remember that we all had some fucking good times at one point in our lives.
Zach comes up with " damn that's one hell of a line" over and over. No way to ever get enough. Hope we don't lose him too early like so many other great singer songwriters.
I am pretty new to Zack's music (all the way from South Africa, we don't get a lot of recommendations in SA for country music) but damn this is all I listen to these days. what a voice mate. definitely my favorite singers to date
This reminds me of my daughter who was in a few horrible relationship. She has ptsd from some of the things that one kid put her through. Then she moved on to another one that was horrible to her. She realized what was going on and even though neither of them put their hands on her they left a mark with her mentally. I am so happy that she found a nice guy now and he treats her so well. He is becoming a part of our family. I was the same way when I was young and always went for the bad guys. I am happy my bad guy turned his life around and we have a wonderful life now for over 28 years. To anyone who is out there, man or woman, you deserve to be treated well and good and don't ever settle for less
The video and song hit hard. Love this. It's like a fast life in a small town and the girl everyone loves for many reasons. A part of the crew and a few others, and still torn between a couple of people she can't let go of. Feels like I was watching my high school sweetheart.
It took me a long time to find one that just stuck with me. Thanks Bennett for being the reason I just kept looking for one.
I bawled my eyes out when I saw him live and he sang this. Really brought to light all that I had been through
American Heartbreak has gotta be the best album of the past few years, hands down.
By one of the best songwriters/artists of this generation
ABSOLUTELY agreed!!!!!
This was on Summertime Blues
but this song wasn’t on AH
Lol get your facts straight goober it doesn’t matter. It’s still one of my favorites and got me hooked as a fan but I’ve been loving these shorts and new videos on TH-cam. Haven’t listen to one I haven’t liked especially the one about breaking down by Muskogee that shit hit home
zach is such an amazing artist! These comments describes his work incredibly well. He is able to create a feeling on every song that most artists try a lifetime to achieve. His songs describes every feeling non of us are able to put in words. that is why his songs feels like home and it feels like an escape from reality
Celebrating my sisters birthday today. She passed almost a year ago and it's been tough but Mr Zach Bryan has gotten me through.
So sorry for your loss
I’ve heard this song 1000 times, yet the video still nearly made me cry
Same.
I was born in African, the furthest i have ever been is Asia i however don’t understand why I’m so connected with zach’s music and country music in general..much love from Rwandan 🇷🇼
I’m a woman born in Oklahoma, same as Zach Bryan. This song “hits home.”
I’m glad you appreciate country music from so far away!
music is for the soul..big respect code cornman of oklahoma 🙏
The most tragic Zach Bryan song anywhere from American Heartbreak onward, perfectly capturing the deep sadness of being a few years out of high school and having seen people's dreams crushed in real time. I wish this had a seven-minute version, because it feels like the story only barely gets started in the two verses that are on here and then is abruptly cut off, but this is still easily a 9/10 for me.
How good does that guitar solo hit with the video directing. Brilliant
But. I think the "cut short" fits the vibes.
Bc it, life, goes by soooo fast.
Like the famous Good Will Hunting line.. "Tomorrow I'm gonna wake up, and I'll be 50.."..
I wish Zambians could listen more to your songs .... so, calming. happy to have listened to your songs.
Was happy to play a small role in this video, been going through rough times like a lot of listeners, so it was nice to be able to be part of this.
Cool bro how did you contribute? I’m just curious? I would love a job like that well it wouldn’t even be a job. If you’re having fun, I do it for free.
What did you do if you don’t mind me asking!? Sound so awesome
Keep your head up! Glad you're still breathing
You play this and then something in the orange and then god speed it’ll make your head spin!!!
@@DapperDan. I was cast as one of the teens in this one, most of our scenes were cut but we’re throwing stones during the lake scene. Helped crew on the last day, which is my norm. If you want to be part of a show, just keep an ear to the ground on local productions, they almost always need a hired hand to PA. Cheers!
I’ve been listening to this guys music for a about a year but only whatever popped up on mainstream media. I finally started to listen to more of his music recently. I was listening to this one on my way to work a couple of days ago and it brought me to tears. This song is so good, & I love when music brings out so much emotion and you can actually FEEL what the song is saying
Zach, you won't see this comment, but this story is exactly what happened with me and a girl I knew and loved. The only difference is the "Oklahoma" part. The first time I heard this song, it just brought me right back, and I didn't know what to feel. Music like this that makes you feel, really feel deep inside, is the best kind. Thank you, man.
Music is magical ✨️ cheers
@@mojo7980 It’s not “music” that’s magical, it’s his music that’s magical
Some of the girls that listen and love this song don’t even understand this song.

Beautiful man. This dudes changed my life and I’ll be forever grateful. Keep doing you Zach, me and the boys will keep belting them songs till our lungs burn. Love you man. Good work here
Heard this for the first time last night - it is so beautiful and captivating, refreshing and lovely. 🎉
I’m obsessed with everything Zach’s done musically . His music is beautiful in a deep way - I feel very understood and I know my guy friends do too . Just simply, thank you Zach.
I really hope he makes a music video for Tishomingo, No Cure, or ‘68 Fastback. I feel the story telling in these songs leaves an opening for a great video
68’ Fastback please
tishomingo is such a masterpiece
You could take any one of his songs and make a great video for each of them. He's an incredible lyricist!
I’ve been dying to see a music video for Jamie 😩👀
Do you want a video to replace the images and perspective you've already created in your mind for a song you already enjoy?
Born and raised in Oklahoma. Moved to Seattle. Can't wait to go back home
Hey Zach fellow Okie here! Thank you for your service to our country and our ears❤️
She used to play in the yard and she would dream of one day
'Til the world came around and took her dreaming away
Told her how to dress and act and smile
Well, damn. That made me cry.
Hello beautiful 👋 hope you’re having a great day??
Hello, how are you doing today? Thanks for your love and support❤

My favorite song by Zach! ❤
The fact that she was literally a rodeo clown just adds another layer to this song, too good man 🙌🏼
If I had a nickel for every lover I’ve had who’d been some sort of clown. Amiright?

So sad to hear that Alex passed. This song means so much to me. There isn’t a lot of worship music that I really love, and I love this song. RIP Alex
Best Talent in country right now. Pumped to see you on May 28th!!
I love this song!! Love from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
The song is incredible but the video adds such a layer to it! Amazing
This is so immersive. I wanna see a music video for every one of your songs now lol
He's gotta make one for Something in the Orange, Jamie, Travelling Man, Crooked Teeth, Birmingham, Cold Damn Vampires, Open the Gates, Sun to Me, Oklahoma City, and Heavy Eyes!!!
@@ComedyBros5 I actually don’t think one should be made for Jamie. I don’t want Jamie to have a face because I as well as so many others have lost someone in a similar way and I think it’s nice that we can all picture our own someone. It’s also such a difficult topic that would be real hard to watch. Open the gates would be super sick as a music video though! Also Corinthians!
@@taranicole4849 That's a really good point. Hadn't thought of Corinthians, but it'd definitely be a great one! Needless to say, a lot of Zach's music could easily make awesome videos!
@@ComedyBros5 yes, so many songs tell such relatable, yet unique stories that would be great on film.
Heart broken by someone you never knew. Even after all the time spent together.
I accidentally found this song in the right time I finally let go.. after 4 yrs of losing myself! 6 black eyes a front tooth I had saved from emergency dental surgery and a week in icu. This song brought peace to my sou! I don’t know if I’m safe yet but I’m trying and praying I will be! 🙏
ZB is the only new popular country male musician that checks every box for me… and this is coming from a longtime metalhead. He isn’t cheesy or cringey, he’s the right amount of raspy twang. 🥹
I live in the UK and this is the best country song here!!
Hello, how are you doing today? Thanks for your love and support🎵❤️
How’s everyone’s drinking going?
It's a battle
Not well, not well…
It's a struggle
Been sober 1 year and some weeks from booze now I just smoke reefer take some shrooms and think about if she's ok, or if she really did make it out of that town alive.
Hell yeah brother
When i first heard this song, i thought ZB was speaking specifically to me, and I found solace and comfort in it. Now, I see that I’m not the only fella in this position based off of these comments, and that gives me comfort. It gives me comfort that there is a bigger world out there, and that the good guy does win. Love y’all, keep drinking cold beer and doing good in the world.
This song and video bring back such strong memories of growing up in Ok… thanks Zach
You’re right… hello
It's so refreshing to hear real country music again... I honestly thought it was dead a gone a long time ago
only a few seconds in... that voice!!! amazing
Saddest Easter in recent memory. I miss you Daryn
Lyrics:
Go on and put on that dress that all the bad boys like
I know your daddy ain't home so ride with me tonight
You always wind up here in a puddle of tears
Them boys are out and they're angry and they're lookin' for blood
In the back of a blue old pick up truck
You've got nowhere to go although you're all gussied up
There's so much whiskey in his Coke it'll make her nose bend
But she swears that his love is a damn God send
She's known God since she was a child
She used to play in the yard and she would dream of one day
'Til the world came around and took her dreaming away
Told her how to dress and act and smile
She's an Oklahoma Smokeshow
He's an asshole from back home
She'll never make it out alive
That small town bar scene
Where small vices kill your big dreams
He'd take you home but he's too drunk to drive
I've been here, I've been up all night
Thinkin' 'bout a life with you and I
One you'll never know
'Cause you're a small town smokeshow
Well, I've been here, I've been up all night
Thinkin' 'bout a life with you and I
One you'll never know
'Cause you're a small town smokeshow
Go on and put on that dress that all the bad boys like
I know your daddy ain't home so ride with me tonight
You always wind up here in a puddle of tears
Them boys are out and they're angry and they're looking for blood
In the back of a blue old pick up truck

This song always reminds me that everyone had someone they loved and had to let go. Everytime I listen to it, I remember that we all had some fucking good times at one point in our lives.
Zach comes up with " damn that's one hell of a line" over and over. No way to ever get enough. Hope we don't lose him too early like so many other great singer songwriters.
I am pretty new to Zack's music (all the way from South Africa, we don't get a lot of recommendations in SA for country music) but damn this is all I listen to these days. what a voice mate. definitely my favorite singers to date
The song itself is really good but with this incredible video just reached another level! 🤩

I was touched by your emotional beautiful song!!!

Zach, you’ve saved me in so many ways and helped me find peace with so many things. Keep producing these bangers 🖤🖤
The video and song hit hard. Love this. It's like a fast life in a small town and the girl everyone loves for many reasons. A part of the crew and a few others, and still torn between a couple of people she can't let go of. Feels like I was watching my high school sweetheart. I don't know how he embodies rural life in America with every song, but he does. Instant favorite singer. Zach Bryan is the GOAT
I’d do anything to see him in concert- or anywhere 😭 I love him so much
