I rewatched this season last week and noticed that whenever someone travels to alternate world, they become laterally inverted just like you see yourself in mirror. It's a nice trick the writer/director used supposedly to confuse audience.
Well to be precise all the footage from Eva's world is inverted. Completely. So when somebody is driving a car in Eva's world, it's a right-hand drive vehicle. Or for example in 3x01 when Katharina is rummaging through the kitchen to prepare breakfast she has to use her off hand instead of her strong hand and vice versa. Which is also true for all characters in Eva's world but I think she basically had to practice this whole scene as a choreography. I can't see her improvising her movements and switching hands at the same time. But yeah all the characters are inverted, too. It's hardest to tell with Jonas but Martha, the Unknown and a certain other character all have a tell that reminds you in which world the scene is taking place.

21:03 Bernd had key to nuclear plant, Claudia's secretary had "Volume control room" map, Old Tannhaus had Ariadne book and clock "for Charlotte". Everything that he laid in front of Eva on her table.
As you can see 16:16, best friends Bartosh and Jonas are once again fighting in the rain over a girl aka Martha. Just like outside school. Except its middle aged Jonas and the Martha in question is from a different time line universe
Jonas and "dark" Martha are still related! They still have the DNA connection, that being Mikkel being Jonas Father and Martha brother. The only difference is that nobody knows that they are related. But nobody hearing a tree falling in a forest, doesn't make it not fall.
no, Mikkel as Jonas' dad Michael Kahnwald doesn't exist in "dark" Martha's world. he never travelled back in time and never married Hannah. Jonas is the only missing part in that family tree since every other factor still exists, the only significant change is "Michael Kahnwald" not existing because Ines never adopted him in the 80s. "light" Martha and Jonas are related, "dark" Martha and Jonas are not.
The 3-Person-Guy took two general keys to the nuclear power plant from Helge's father (the old guy in the wheelchair), then he used those keys to break into the nuclear power plant in order to steal the plans for the volume control system. As we have learned in season 1 already, in 1986 there was a major failure in the volume control system of the nuclear power plant that created the substance that was stored in the barrels, remember? And now we see these guys having interest in the volume control system, hmmmmm suspicious haha.
17:00 The Romans did not particularly differentiate between a U and a V, mostly depending on the context for the right pronounciation, and for carving a text into stone, they certainly preferred the V shape. So it's "erit lux".
Stay strong! The end is honestly worth every mindfuck. Like everyone here said it many times before, it will all make sense soon. Anyway, love your reactions. Much love from Germany!
Just keep in mind that Eva wants to keep the knot; Adam wants to end the knot; and Claudia wants to change the knot. If you keep that in mind, all of their actions will make sense.
The story is confusing, and is supposed to be confusing. But you're making it more confusing than it should be. Relax, and focus in getting what is being given and avoid making wild especulations(you're just adding more confusion).
@@dtmt502 I disagree entirely. Finally, so many questions are answered and loose ends are tied up. I enjoyed S3 much more than S1. Although S2 is my overall favourite.
The actor that plays Ulrich is in Tribes of Europa on Netflix, rocking that mustache. Very interesting Sci-Fi series. Very similar to The 100 in a way, but still it's own take on the future.
Geez, Nikki was kind of a bummer here. Like I get that it is confusing and she is frustrated but to say at the end that it is stupid seems a little unfair. And I usually really enjoy her takes.
Honestly if you see her reaction to the S2 finale then it was clear this was coming. The alternate world reveal is kind of a litmus test that isn't for everyone. I've seen a few reactions now where they kind of lose interest after that for at least the first half of S3.
I agree, it kind of ruins the reaction for me, when she clearly is not enjoying it but watches it anyway, just to complain about the show. But that's just my opinion.
So impatient and dramatic, I was hoping she would be the first to figure out what's happening, but it seems her mentality wasn't what I thought it was. It was sad having to see Suraj and Rana feel sorry for her, but guess this is what happens when you try to draw out shows by only watching 1 episode per week. Some people just don't have the patience for it, and I'm honestly starting to feel this way with their Naruto Shippuden reactions too. At first I was finally glad that they had reached the Pain ark, but only to see them want to watch more but couldn't because of their congested schedule. It is what it is though, at the end of the day nobody is forcing me to watch.
Martha and Jonas World are 100% opposite. After apocalipse There is always raining in Jonas world, and in Martha world is always sunny. If you watch one episode per week you will be more confused.
They're not working together. Remember, Eva just said she wants to preserve the knot. Adam had said a few episodes back hewants to destroy it. This whole show is an eternally repeating war between the 2.
The Martha that was sent from Adam to Middle-Aged-Jonas (the stranger) in 1888 did not try to fool those guys. She was helping them. She gave them one of the dark matter thingies and so they were able to create more of that substence.
She did lie to them though, saying it was her last one, when she totally had more. Then she snuck away and absconded. Not a good look for a supposedly innocent person. Then it turns out she is working with Adam, their arch nemesis, who killed their love/sister. If she really wanted to help them, she could have used the ball device to transport them to a later time so that they could get more Cesium fuel for their suitcase time machine. Instead she lied to Middle Jonas/The Stranger’s face, then ran away, leaving them stranded in time. So from Middle Jonas/The Stranger’s perspective, I think he feels pretty betrayed by her. The one good thing she did was give him the “Super Cesium” ball/fuel, which was necessary for Adam to eventually create the 1920s god particle ball. But it would take decades of work.
If the show is that frustrating for you to the point where you need to complain about it every episode then just stop watching. I'm fine with just Suraj and Rana continuing till the end. That's the sacrifice of watching like one episode per week. Your confusion will likely be cleared if you simply keep watching the show. I get that it's confusing AF but just trust the show to give you the answers when the time comes. Just roll with what's happening and stop trying to figure everything out. You'll have a much better time that way. If it's already confusing then trying to come up with theories on what's happening will make it even worse.
NOT A SPOILER - The quote that the nameless said about the eyes and ears is the same that was in Klausen's (the detective from season 2) letter that told him to come to Winden to look for his brother. That letter was signed "from a friend" or something like that. This means that the nameless was the one to write and send it to Klausen.
They're not in the deep future, this is just what the 2050's post-apocalypse looks like in Eve's World. Adam's Post-Apocalypse looks like The Last of Us where Eve's Post-Apocalypse looks like Mad Max.
First time in all the years I know and saw that show (including two reaction channels) I noticed, that the bag, Hannah uses to blackmail Alexander is a shopping bag from the DDR! He's either a refugee or a spy back in the 1986s !!!
You can see "Ulrich with a moustache" in "Tribes of Europa" on Netflix. Make no mistake, it's no Dark, but it's a decent series that shows a lot of promise.
I know it's hard to follow all the information that the show has given you at this point. To be fair, I remember that I wanted to quit at one point. But also, I remember the feeling of relief after I watched the last episodes. When you think that everything is a mess, it results that actually, it has perfect sense. Weird but true.
When I watched this show, I rally appreciated that they were super consistent about their model for time. It was clear from the beginning that it's a loop, it's like the first sentence in the S1E1 before the suicide. And it gets repeated again and again. I understood that they are going to slowly reveal how the whole complex story is hanging together, why things happen the way they do. If anything will break the loop, it will happen very late in the final few episodes. They will only break the loop after exploring all aspects of the story and after they again and again point out the desperation of the loop. I don't understand why Nikki has been demanding the loop to break since season 1, and saying that it makes no sense otherwise. If they broke the loop willy nilly without a good explanation, that would make no sense in my opinion. It's an unfortunate attitude to have, as it makes her tune out very early on and stop trying to understand the complex story. Which is very satisfying when you get how everything hangs together. I think this show is best enjoyed if one accepts that 1) it's a complicated story and 2) have trust that all of it (even minor details) have been thought out and do make sense. If you don't accept these two premises before hand, you will naturally just assume, like Nikki, that it makes no sense and stop trying to figure it out.
Items that you are already supposed to realize there's is only one of it just travels so it seems there are multiples; the time machine, the necklace, the watch, the notebook, the gun. I've never been fully sure if the time travel book is also just the one.
Jonas and Martha went to 2052, but in Eve's world. After the apocalypse, in Adam's world everything is dark (lol) and it's raining , in Eve's world everything became a dessert. (Sorry for my bad English XD).
i love this show but this is a completely reasonable reaction. It comes back around, but the show is basically a parody of itself for this stretch of episodes
This is late but all of this frustrating clearly because they totally forgetting why Stranger don’t release Jonas in S1 finale. A lot of them are trying to break the cycle but can’t just do 1 major thing differently because if thing don’t go the same, they will not the same person they are, and if they are not the same person, why would they do know to do thing differently?

Eva!? 16:40 - "Time to say goodbye" is such a fantastic montage! 17:40 - AltMartha is working for Adam 18:10 - "WHAT TIME IS THIS!?" 5. Did a reactor call a plot twist in this episode beforehand? NO 6. Did a reactor correctly call a plot twist for a future episode? NO - I made a brief commentary on one speculation, however, in the first reply below.
Speculation Spoilers below... !!!!! SPOILERS !!!!! 19:00 - The speculations on the timeframe of the final scene is completely off, but that's to be expected given the rather stark set piece. It is, in fact, 2053 in Eva's World. If you follow the logic of the cave system connecting three time periods, we know that Adam's World connects 1950s to 1980s to 2020s. You can get to the future through a shimmering portal, and the past through the God Particle. In Eva's World, we know that the caves exist in both the 1980s and 2020s. Therefore, the caves have to connect to either the 1950s or the 2050s. This is CLEARLY NOT the 1950s... therefore Eva's world cave connect to the 2050s, and thus their nexus point is the 2020s while Adam's cave nexus is the 1980s. The reason that the cave wasn't established all the way back in the 1920s should become obvious now. In Eva's World, there ARE NOT travelers into the deep past. Sic Mundus doesn't exist, and thus they are not around to dig out the tunnel. Rather, Eva starts her own group, Erit Lux, to do the work from the 1950s to the 1980s.
it presents an interesting philosophical and ontological question. What is the basis for incest being wrong? Most would state that it’s one (or both) of two things: 1)it’s inappropriate because it’s an abuse/perversion of the power and relationship between members of the family unit. So if two family members had never met and didn’t grow up/get raised together, then this would not apply. 2)it’s inappropriate because if they have children, the gene pool of the parents will be too similar and this can lead to birth defects, mental retardation etc. This could be avoided by not having children. So if a couple were not raised together (siblings separated since birth perhaps), and did not have children together, then could such a relationship potentially be ethical/not inappropriate? I’m not sure. But it’s an interesting thought experiment.
Alt-Martha and Jonas still has the blood connection, because Jonas is born out of Mikkel, just from the other world. But it's still biologically incest.
2:22 Well if you ask me there are two different pocket watches. I know that the show is trying to tell me that they are the same but the one in this episode always looks silver and a tad smaller than the one we know. . . . Also on the spoiler side of things: . . . As we learn later Charlotte was named by her parents but H.G. Tannhaus also lost a grandchild named Charlotte who was probably named after her great great great great grandmother who would have been Heinrich's wife and Gustav's mother. This theory makes more sense at the end of the season.
3:38 Well Bernd said it in 1x03 to Claudia before she descended into the cave for the first time... and if you have not noticed so far almost all the lines of the Unknown are quotes by other characters. When he enters the carriage he is quoting Sigmund Freund but the same quote was also in the letter to Clausen in the last season. He kept reciting it.
4:48 Alt-Ulrich does not know that this is his brother's body as time travel is not a possible solution. Not even a theory. All he knows is that this is a recently deceased boy who was put into his brother's clothes.
5:10 It's funny that you compare (alt-)Hannah and alt-Charlotte apparently without noticing that the scene has led you to this conclusion. Remember that Hannah and Ulrich met in the same closet/record room in season one and Hannah was completely oblivious to Ulrich's needs. But when alt-Ulrich tells alt-Charlotte off she is simply going "OK".
10:42 Here the Unknown is citing old Magnus from 2x06. Both Eva and Adam say that (our) Martha has to die which begs the question if they try to accomplish different things over all. "Volumenkontrollsystem"... If only that had been mentioned before... like in 1x03 for example.
18:13 Well the whole point is that this is not the year 5 billion (Doctor Who: The End Of The World) but only a short trip 33 years into a post-apocalyptic desert. Did you ever watch Mad Max?

Who is this deaf and mute lady in the future? Well who is the only deaf and mute character we know? Who is this old woman with heterochromia? Well who is the only other women with heterochromia? Who is this boy? Well who is the only only blind man? I like your theory though I don't see Elisabeth getting with anyone else after Noah.
"His room is just like his dad's in the 80's" wow I haven't heard any other reactor say that, but damn it's so true!
(NOT A SPOILER) Adam wants to destroy the knot so the cycle ends, but Eva wants to preserve the knot so the cycle continues. They want the opposite thing.
Confusion is an important part of DARK. You are on the right track and all questions will be answered, even if you just couldn't imagine that
Deep breath... you ARE supposed to be super confused right now!!! I promise the explanations start coming very soon, and the show does actually explain 99.5% of literally everything for you by the end. You can make it!
***I think it's just 1 more confusing episode, than the rest start giving you all the answers. I personally was VERY satisfied by how it all comes together in the end. Just try not to speculate too much on what is going on in the OTHER world until they reveal it for you, otherwise your brains may explode. Lol.***
It feels like Dark was/is your intellectually most challenging reaction work, isn't it?
Seeing you three on the couch at this point in time (and episode) and comparing your faces to the very first episode reminds me of going on a long and strenuous hike with friends. The faces in the pictures look so damn different at the start of the trail and when returning. 🤣 Some people also don't look too happy anymore, not even though it's over.
It's so fascinating and interesting to see other people's reactions when watching this show. It's all there, ranging from being honest about their confusion, accepting it and still being able to enjoy the show, to being a little too aware of their own cleverness to going into denial and becoming really pissed because they can't accept they got lost somewhere on the way, to keep believing/hoping it's all gonna make sense in the end and still keep holding all available threads in their hands. It's like the show inside the show. Love it!
21:03 Bernd had key to nuclear plant, Claudia's secretary had "Volume control room" map, Old Tannhaus had Ariadne book and clock "for Charlotte". Everything that he laid in front of Eva on her table.
The end with Martha is just 33 years in the future in the alternate world, don’t get too confused
Love the reactions!
yes! the rule are clear. they were set in the first 5 episode and the show never change it. (except once).
That is the world of Martha after the Apocalipsis on her world. In that of Jonas, is snowy nuclear winter and in Marta's, a dry arid desertic land.
@@totally5694 genetically they are related just as much. A DNA test would show them as related.
ToTally
Mikkel not going back has nothing to do with it. That just makes sure Mikkel will never has Jonas as a kid. He is still Jonas’ dad.
Relax, and focus in getting what is being given and avoid making wild especulations(you're just adding more confusion).
indeed. its so more simple that they think...
Its cause there watching it with people whilst talking during the show i think
Why did I think of Atom Eve from Invincible when I read the episode title, lol

season 3 is meh, first two seasons you can watch it in a week, this season is such a drag, you lose interest in the characters
@@dtmt502 I disagree entirely. Finally, so many questions are answered and loose ends are tied up. I enjoyed S3 much more than S1. Although S2 is my overall favourite.

3:33 Bernd Doppler did say this the first time in episode 3 of season 1
The actor that plays Ulrich is in Tribes of Europa on Netflix, rocking that mustache. Very interesting Sci-Fi series. Very similar to The 100 in a way, but still it's own take on the future.
Yeah still not sure what to make of that show.
@@michaelklaus I think I'd have a higher opinion of it if it didn't feel like they left us high and dry *right in the middle* of the story.
Geez, Nikki was kind of a bummer here. Like I get that it is confusing and she is frustrated but to say at the end that it is stupid seems a little unfair. And I usually really enjoy her takes.
100% with you on it. She brings such good humor and really introspective stuff, if she's not having fun, not sure she should force it.
She always thinks that something is stupid when she doesnt understand it. Her attitude kinda ruins the reaction honestly.
Nikki: How can you forget Mikkel's face from 33 years ago??
Also Nikki: I couldn't remember what I just watch
Martha and Jonas World are 100% opposite. After apocalipse There is always raining in Jonas world, and in Martha world is always sunny. If you watch one episode per week you will be more confused.
You’re not supposed to get it right now. All pieces will fall in their place. Have some trust in the writer and director.
I love how this episode starts and ends. It starts with the furthest we can go backwards in time and ends with what seems to be the far future
0:54 Suraj 😭😂
10/10 Ulrich expression
I can’t breathe 😂
Jonas found the St. Christopher's medal in the sand at the beach by the lake when he was sitting and talking to Martha in Season 1.
Guys just a quick heads up. Those were not the confusing episodes (hahaha), but there will be some soon.
But it would take decades of work.
at least she was telling the truth about not being the one who wrote that letter though. Although that’s with a BIG asterisk aka “fine print” hehe
@@spacecadet2172 We don't know that yet after Episode 3
Guys
Finale posted on the patreon!!
I hate her as well. I hope I won't see her in future reactions.
There needs to be a hysterical laughter compilation for this group
Suraj's brain puree would barely fill a shot glass.
That moment when you realize it’ll be a minute until we see these three react to another show this crazy. :( P A I N.
Why they continue to overcomplicate it lmao. Just watch, the rules are right there👀
Adam world 2052/53 - Nuclear winter
Eva world 2052/53 - Nuclear summer
Adam wants to destroy the knot
Eva wants to keep the knot
But why???

First time in all the years I know and saw that show (including two reaction channels) I noticed, that the bag, Hannah uses to blackmail Alexander is a shopping bag from the DDR! He's either a refugee or a spy back in the 1986s !!!
Wow, you guys look drained. We all had headaches too, stick with it, it’s mad worth 👍🏼
What you are feeling right now is a knot and you can only untie it when you finish the third cycle.
i love this show but this is a completely reasonable reaction.
3:33 It was Bernd Doppler in S01, and he said it to Claudia before she lowered herself down to the cave full of nuclear waste.
OMG volume alert (Nikki). My brain might not be fried but my ears are.
also when i first saw this episode i immediately started scouring the internet to find out who did that song it was AMAZING! (btw its Inside by Chris Avantgarde)
14:29 They are definitely still related. Her younger brother is his father, that never changes.
oh man, have you guys done a reaction to the O.A? now that one's a mind-bender.
god i wish it hadn't been cut short... :(
Penultimate episode is must watch to understand everything. Keep close eye into that episode. Ur mind will be blown
After seeing this reaction, i can understand the confusion, wait untill penultimate episode for clear answers. Its an episode which is hard to craft and beautifully created
Bartosz and Jonah fought in the rain at their school in the 1st season too.
Wow, this show is not stupid, it’s a masterpiece!
What we know is a drop, what we don’t know is an ocean! 😂
I hope they stick with it, cuz the payoff is fantastic. You can’t go into a show knowing everything and looking everything up on the internet, what fun is that?
Nikki, one thing is you not being able to understand something, but say that this show is stupid? No, the show isn't stupid if you don't understand it, sometimes you guys talk about the most ridiculous stuff and don't understand the most basic.
Totally, she should quit if she's gonna insult the show, god! She's been so anoying!
Attempt #498: of trying to get The Normies to check out Symbionic-Titan or Primal.
Both made by Genndy Tartakovsky, the guy who made Samurai Jack.
My biggest question for your reaction is, How do you look down to take notes for a subtitled show and still know what’s going on in the episode? Props to you. I watched this in dub.
The last episodes are the best!!! Please continue and everything would make sense
It's not the 2100's, the year is 2053 but it is just another parallel between Adam and Eve's worlds: nuclear winter in Adam's and nuclear summer in Eve's, both after the apocalypse happens in each world
The moment you think you kinda get whats happening and then they are in a desert. Thats how I felt
nikki being over it is hilarious
It's Martha world. 33 years into the future..

DARK Reaction Checklist
1. Did two characters have sex?
NO
2. Did a character wake up from a nightmare?
NO
3. Did a reactor make a comparison to LOST?
NO
4. Did a reactor have their mind blown (OMG, WTF, etc.)?
2:15 - OG Tannhaus has the "Fur Charlotte" pocketwatch!
10:40 - The Unknown Trio works for... Eva!?
16:40 - "Time to say goodbye" is such a fantastic montage!
17:40 - AltMartha is working for Adam
18:10 - "WHAT TIME IS THIS!?"
5. Did a reactor call a plot twist in this episode beforehand?
NO
Guys. Genetically, Marta and Jonas are still related, regardless of being from different worlds. Lol
it presents an interesting philosophical and ontological question.
@@spacecadet2172 bullshit
Alt-Martha and Jonas still has the blood connection, because Jonas is born out of Mikkel, just from the other world. But it's still biologically incest.
