Nuno Bettencourt is one of the most skilled guitarists in the world. If you look at his right hand during most solos it barely moves but he pumps out some extreme solos. Show respect dude.
This is Nuno's own 62 Strat which he was using for a bunch of recordings from around this time. I think the crap tone is more to do with the amp and the way in which this footage was recorded.. check sessions from room 4 to hear more from this guitar..
It probably sounded good in the room. It just didn't help that they used a potato to Mike up the amp and the recording was then uploaded onto the Internet using a zx spectrum
I agree...horrible tone. He's a humbucker guy, maybe he doesn't realize you need to change the settings on your amp when playing single coils. And that freakin' single coil hum is unbearable.

All I can say is he better have one smokin hot girl, cuz he's the whole package. If he doesn't, the only other thing it could be is he's insecure. (Or maybe boring as a person.) Not saying he's either, just that a guy who looks as good as he does, and plays as good as he does, and is a fuckin rock star on stage as he def is, BETTER have a smokin hot girl!!
