John steps outside his comfort zone to paint up a fantasy/historical piece with the Frostgrave Barbarian.

In this miniature painting tutorial we tackle a fantasy piece with the Frostgrave Barbarian. John is more at home with sci-fi and modern historical pieces so this model is a bit of a departure for him. He still conjures up something which would look right at home in any Nordic army.
What colour scheme would you have gone with for this barbarian?

Nice model. Did a great job painting it. Brush control looks good too. Also liked your camera work, keeping the model zoomed in.
    Great job.

    Cool paintjob!😎😎😎😎
That pallette of mainly browns works for this mini, and many others. On others, you might find different coloured tunics or trousers, but I'd be happy to paint that mini that way and put him down on my D&D table.
    Kudos, Sir!

"Outside of the usual realm..." is a fancy way of saying "I couldn't find the engine", right? :P He came out fantastically, though, mate!

Amazing video! It's a great piece of knowledge to actually see the entire process of mini painting!

Looking good. great job. I like the drybrush on the shield to make the paint look faded and worn. Really cool effect

Looks awesome. If that’s your best out of the gate with a period you don’t paint, then please do more videos maybe, ... American Revolution or Seven Years War. Pretty talented. Thanks John. Btw. If you paint a pirate captain, name him Ginger Beard, the scourge of the Irish Sea. All good!!!! kev

Ironically, one of the main reasons Vikings painted their shields was to hide the wood grain.

Siento decirte que no me gusta el esquema de color que has elegido , parece que llevara una camiseta roja deportiva ...
