Do a Frostgrave series of videos. 1) Building a 4x4 table - simple techniques, tools, 2) Building warband 1 and 2 etc etc etc
❤❤❤ this is a cool idea
PLEASE!!!!
@@PeachyTipsit is a cool idea!
Could I add, maybe scratch build the scenery for each scenario? Mausoleum, Wizards tower ect
Most needed is "Build the frozen city".
Lots of MDF buildings are available; at a price.
Can something be done with cardboard that still looks good and "frozen".
Battle reports would be great. The world needs a Silver Bayonet campaign of Sharpe, Harper and the Chosen Men hunting down Dracula before he can complete a secret mission for Napoleon. "Ya bloody Transylvanian bastard!".
I have plans also to have the baddies he’s killed come back as revenants, undead Obadiah!……ya can’t kill me sharpie!
@@PeachyTipsoh that would be so good!😂🤣
Now *that* is the Horror element right there!! *Shudders* bloody Obadiah... Lol great timing on your video- Im painting up some Norman knights as enchanted statues for a al Frostgrave scenario!@@PeachyTips
@@PeachyTips Please do a Silver Bayonet battle report, that game sounds really cool. And with a Sharpe theme? Now, that is frosting on the cake indeed..! 😃
Oh cool!
Peachy following the Juggz advice and getting those Red Arrows into the thumbnail, you love to see it
Gotta follow what the cool kids are doing
@@PeachyTipsignore Rob’s advice then. 😉😂
@@PeachyTips nah! You do you! 👍
I‘m a frostgrave veteran, I‘ve had NOTHING new to learn from this video. Yet, I enjoyed every second of it because of how excited you are. Wholesome!
😍👍 when I started reading your comment I was like…..uh oh I’ve done bad lol.
Thanks for the lovely feedback 🙏
Excitement is one of the great drivers for this hobby. Thanks for introducing me to Frostgrave, Silver Bayonets, and Sharpe! What fantastic painting and KitBashing! Thank you;
Peach sounding like my mom trying to describe different types of wizards.
🤣🤣🤣
For the Sean Bean Frostgrave warband, don't forget to add his character from the movie National Treasure. He was a Treasure Hunter, and in Frostgrave, it's all about grabbing treasures.
Blooming heck! How could I forget that dude 🤦♂️😂
What about the 'Ronin' character where he pretended he was ex SAS and got caught in a trap with a cup of coffee by Robert De Niro. Awesome film.
@@RagingHorn7795 and he somehow survives!
Or when he was a traitorous ex-spy...damn 007 ending him.
Ahhh Bean in National Treasure, one of the best examples of "Bean's doing a posh voice he is clearly the villian!"
"maybe demons aren't all bad" - Erebus, probably
Hahahaha
Loving the longer-form videos, Peach. 50 minutes blew right by!
Yaaay! I’m chuffed you approve, it certainly took a bit of time to make, but I really enjoyed making it tbh
@@PeachyTips Short videos are for kids. We are adults here and we want three hours of Peachy Tips…🙂
I absolutely love all the spare parts you get with the frostgrave boxes 😍😍
My favourites include Five Leagues/Parsecs, but I really have to dive into Joseph A. McCulloughs games I have heard nothing but positives, and it's a "Your Dudes/Dudettes" narrative gamers dream come true. Both Five Leagues/Parsecs are Solo/Cooperative games with a very heavy emphasis on allowing to create whatever you want in Sci Fi or Fantady settings. You should definitely check them out for your narrative solo wargaming needs!
Yes, I was going to recommend Five Leagues from the Borderlands and Five Parsecs from Home as well. Ivan Sorensen and Joseph McCullough definitely sit in some of the same circles of the Game Designer Venn Diagram. Their games are different but appeal to the same narrative appetites and miniatures-agnostic DIY approach, imho. Ivan has created so many rules sets it is mind-boggling.
One thing Peachy hasn't picked up on since he hasn't played his first game of Frostgrave yet is how incredibly swingy the dice rolls can be, as the game uses d20s. This can drive some people into fits, but I'd encourage you to just go with it. Yeah, sometimes your die rolls are going to be WAY OFF what you needed. C'est la vie. The more you play, the more you will be able to cope with it and realize it's not that big a deal most of the time... unless your Wizard dies. ;-) Which can definitely happen. If you're unlucky it'll be in the first game. Then you get another Wizard or Apprentice and move on. This isn't Mordheim/Necromunda where losing your leader early can really set you back compared to the other warbands and punish you severely for the rest of the campaign. It's less of a big deal than you think, so just roll those d20s and accept the results.
Burrows and badgers has low key the best rules, best mimiatures and the best setting.
Yeah. Burrows and Badgers is pretty cool
Agreed. B&B is the best all round skirmish game. Great miniatures, great setting, great rules.
Or...create a Frostgrave warband with Burrows and Badgers miniatures? Models don't have to be human. Just saying.
B&B is higher barrier to entry because the characters have a race.
@@samdean1966 Not really, because you are not limited by factions, any character can be on the same warband as any other character. So you can literally choose the models you like the most, regardless of race. Unfortunately, all the models are sweet, so you end up buying them all anyway. 😂
Peachy you're killing me, now I wanna get the Frostgrave book!
Hahaha! sorry lol 😆
Dew it
Frostgrave is excellent! and you'll almost certainly be able to play with whatever minis you have laying around
You wont regret it
Do it!
Your third warband could be led by a very potion oriented wizard who supplies all their soldiers with lots of useful potions.
Every miniature could be laden with bottles and flasks.
Due to all the containers they carry, they are known as The Juggz Crew.
😂😂😂
Perfection 👌
Great to see you doing stuff that’s not GW!
Frostgrave is great fun, but I’m really looking forward to your Silver Bayonet content! Especially your kitbashing! ❤
Please please a solo battle report! Love this format.
We have been playing a campaign at my local gaming club for about 3 month.
Its been fantastic, we have had some absolutely brilliant storys. From a wizard who throws exploding spoons to a talking horse who casts fireballs from his back end.... Its a great game and so glad you have picked it up.
😂😂😂 now that’s a gaming group I can get behind…..though I’ll avoid getting behind that horse hahaha
Your apprentice:
A) casts the same spells as your wizard but not as good
B) without an apprentice, you lose an activation round, meaning your opponent activates his wizard and up to three soldiers, then his apprentice and three soldiers, and then the remaining soldiers. In this time, you activate your wizard + three soldiers, skipped the apprentice phase, and then activated your remaining soldiers. That can be rough.
C) your apprentice progresses with your wizard,
D) if your wizard is killed, you can promote your apprentice to wizard and get a new apprentice. If you dont have an apprentice, roll a new warband
So yeah that kiddo is worth bringing along xp
A perfect explanation as to the importance of the apprentice 😍🙌😍
Much obliged
The Frostgrave and Silver Bayonet warbands look INCREDIBLE!!! Absolutely love them! Your figs look incredible in squads - best way to showcase your army painting.
Thank you! It’s certainly the best way to showcase them I find, as my painting style certainly is not designed for single miniature shots lol
Frostgrave being ''not just a game to sell miniatures but but one to be the best it can possibly be with the miniatures made around it'' is exactly what I have in mind when reading the rulebook. Great stuff!
Absolutely adore Frostgrave. The North Star plastic kits are also addicting to buy. They are super cheap, great detailed kits with awesome bits all over the place, and are pretty much all cross compatible with each other making for a kitbasher's dream
☝️💯☝️
They also mix well with the Fire Forge kits as well, so you can get quite far in their cross compatibility.
If you like Frostgrave you'll love Forbidden Psalm. Ridiculously easy mechanics (but with a bit of tactical depth), great progression system and a solid solo game. The theme is great too. The best way to describe it would probably be "grimdaft". Well worth a look.
Brilliant! Thanks for the recommendation
Stargrave gives you the same ruleset but with a sci fi spin. You can use a mish mash if all your favourite miniatures.
Recently got the rules, I love it when it’s a reskin of a great rule system, the minis are great too…..so much kitbashing opportunity’s
@@PeachyTips I've already painted several crews and yes the North Star minis are great, they remind me of old school GW multi pose. The potential is great, I ended up slinging old infinity models in there too and kitbashing loads of terrain.
I love Stargrave as a setting. I instantly built a crew out of ancient 90s craftworld eldar I had lying around.
This is a problem for me, the offer is too big, you won't mix different companies
There are SO many different miniatures games these days which you can use any minis in . I’m a huge fan of Stargrave, and honestly it’s such a good system
I love frostgrave, this video is my new go to for getting other people hooked on it too! Well done Mr Peach!
🥰 thank you!
Also check out Rangers of Shadowdeep which is the same basic mechanics, but for solo and cooperative play vs bad guys.
I went similarly mad for frostgrave when I discovered it; bought a box of every figure set, built and painted a whole bunch. The system and the story potential is great fun.
It’s quite the rabbit hole lol
Sooner or later, every wargamer comes to Felstad! Glad you finally discovered the joy that is Frostgrave, and maybe have a look at Five Parsecs and Five Leagues as well.
The Ambot Hunt scenario for Necromunda can easily be adapted for both Stargrave and Frostgrave - maybe a modified Sewer Dragon( Neurolictor? ) and a Vampire( FEC Archregent? ) for each respective game. The benefit is that you only need your warband and a single model for the thing you'll be hunting.
Speaking of which, I hear that The Doomed is also a very popular ruleset for solo gaming with an emphasis on kitbashing.
You should check Rangers Of Shadow Deep out, if you like Frostgrave and interested in solo play. Same old Frostgrave rules, with RPG bits for the characters in a series of linked scenarios.
This was the game that brought me back into wargaming, love it!
I've been playing Frostgrave 2ed for several years and I LOVE it! So well written and balanced, very quick to learn and all the spell lores are really interesting and have their own quirks and play styles. My friends love it - much more fun and casual and rules light than a fiddly GW game. We've spent so many fun Saturdays fighting over Felstad ^^ Very glad you're promoting this gem Peachy xx
😍🙏😍
His Rangers of Shadowdeep hooks me as hard as Frostgrave. Such a great author/game-designer who definitively puts passion in his work and want it shared as much as it can be. And the minis ? Such cool ones, and for a really good price. The kind of price where you can try and fail at painting if you start in the hobby, really great stuff overall.
Extremely glad to see you promoting not only an indie game but likely the best wargame out there. I've played it a whole bunch with friends and family, experienced and new players alike; all love it.
Hope you have a blast with your own games, Peachy
Thank you! Im so excited to do more stuff not only on this game, but the rangers of shadow deep, Stargrave and so on
Glad I stuck around till the end, the idea of painting models as Oblivion guards is the coolest thing I've heard in a while!
Oh my days.
My favourite hobby youtuber and my favourite tabletop game.
Im the same, I got excited the moment I learnt what this game was. I'm still painting two warbands for me and my friend have had so much fun coming up with themes and backstories for them.
Peachy keep doing what you're doing, we love you for it.
I'm watching this as i paint my warbands and sip from a nice, cold Aldi beer.
Friday sorted.
What an idyllic Friday 😘👌
And thank you for the kind words
I started with no intention of starting a new game. I’m now browsing the net for frostgrave things to buy. Parent with young kids here, with little chance to actually game with mates - so this is perfect
It really is the perfect parent game lol
Id love to see a series of battle reports around the war bands you've made
Not played Frostgrave, but a big fan of North Star Military and all the ranges they do. I've used some Frostgrave wizards for my Old World Empire army.
As for a warband name, it has to; Peachy's Teabaggers.
Hahaha! Unleash the tea baggers!
SO GLAD you're doing this, Peach!
😍🙏😍 cheers buddy, many more to come
Yes, please do a solo campaign! You don't even need to film every dice roll. Just tell us the story as it unfolds! :D
"Wizarding Mordheim." That's how I've always thought of both Frost and StarGrave.
Glad you found Frostgrave mate. Rangers of Shadowdeep is my go-to solo/coop game too.
Loving the travelling players/ travelling people, old magic. Mix from across the world of Frostgrave.
Frostgrave in the thumbnail. Instant excitement.
😂👍
First thing that came to mind for me when I saw your 3rd Warband with the lighter clothes and baggy trousers was an Elementalist or summoner Warband that travels incognito as circus, bright silks with bold colours and patterns.
Illusionist could work nicely with that background. A proper magician hiding in plain sight as a scruffy sleight of hand artist. A big dull overcoat or robe with bright and elegant clothes underneath.
That would work. I was thinking a Bandit Witch and gang and a lot of greens and browns for colour.
Our mob has being Frostgrave for quite a few years now. Some of us still have loads of older miniatures that make great characters for the game - as well as whatever we like to make and use. Cheers.. great vid :)
This was a brilliant video. I had never heard of Frostgrave until now. Thanks for the awesome introduction. One problem with making an oblivion soldier warband is that it only takes an arrow to the knee to take them all out😊.
Hahaha! Those bloody arrows, well I hope you enjoy it as much as I am 😍👍
More please! I love following along when TH-camrs are getting into these games.
One thing to watch out for is that the D20 swing can be brutal. If you get outnumbered, you're in for a beating.
Had some great adventures in frostgrave with friends…that’s what games should be about really isn’t it
Also yes yes yes to the battle report
For Frostgrave, I got myself a warband made up of Discworld characters. Two of the witches as wizard and apprentice, the hotdog salesman as my alchemist, Susan as my barbarian. I absolutely love how creative you can get with a lot of miniature games. Have you considered a video where you get some minis you like and then find a ruleset for them afterwards? I'm sure we (the viewers) know of a library's worth of games between us
I love that you're giving some light to Frostgrave! I have a Halfling Enchanter warband! I'm working on a Sigilist warband too! Forstgrave minis, Wargames Atlantic, and Oathmark minis work great together for kitbashing all kinds of stuff. I think good colors for your warband would be Blue and Red! Also, Burrows and Badgers is AWESOME!!!! For Sci-fi, I love Planet 28!
Thanks, and these are some great suggestions thank you
I’ve heard this game is really fun I would love it if my friends would try it out. A magic themed warband sounds so fun. I’ve also always been curious about Oathmark
Great video and I really respect your honesty about having been blinkered to what other fantasy and sci-fi games have been out there. Looking forward to more Frostgrave videos and other "indie" game systems.
I've been playing Frostgrave on and off since it came out.
I think it’s easy to get wrapped your job and the focus on all things GW, GW, GW, but it’s also so refreshing now I’ve left experiencing all this cool hobby.
I feel like Bilbo when he climbs the trees in Mirkwood and gets some nice refreshing clarity lol
50k views in 2 weeks. I hope that this video does count as a success for you mate as opening the doors to these games is just amazing for the community. Love the passion
😍 it certainly does count as a success….tbh I’m chuffed with the numbers of all my videos…..but this one was mental lol
As I mentioned in the video I didn’t expect many folks to watch it…..I wonder if the thumbnail played a part in the reach…..regardless more folks seeing cool stuff about cool games is a bonus to me
@@PeachyTips you’re doing great work mate. People just love to hear and see you get passionate about games and minis
Loving the longer form video format. Feels like a show that I can watch once a week rather than a vid to watch on the bus.
Peachy - go generic so you (or a mate) can try out any of their other schools of wizardry.
Or pick a colour palette, make it look cool, & justify the school afterwards 🤣
I love the fact you’re having fun with the full spectrum of the hobby
If you can find the Pirates version of Frostgrave (Archipelago) it's a great adaptation, loads of potential for boards, war bands etc...
You'll love it when you start playing. I've been playing it with friends since 2017 and we still fall back to Frostgrave all these years later. Great game.
I really like the tone of your video, informative, interesting and easy to follow. Friends of mine have just mentioned frostgrave as a possible game for us to pick up and i watched this to find out more. Id watch more content if you wanted to make it.
Im halfway through a Frostgrave campaign now. Its an incredible game, and so easy to mix in a ton of head canon and really hit your rpg fix as well as a wargame! Five Parsecs From Home is a great solo game as well.
Anyone shocked, anyone? Peachy has a sharpe war and 😂😂😂😂😂😂. Much love and respect mate 👍💯
😂👍
Glad you're joining the Frostgrave world! Thanks for the video and I hope to hear more about your journey into cooperative gaming!
Oh! And building encounters is another way of keeping engaged with the game.
Yes! Not GW games! Frostgrave is amazing 😍
You can tell the man comes from Warhammer by the fact his warbands have colour matching uniforms...
Hahaha! Fair point…..I also think that’s the visual symmetry nerd in me too lol
I play mostly Stargrave and I do want to at some point put together a crew that's more militarized or something, but I like the idea of rag-tag crews. Also, since group activation usually lasts for 2 or 3 rounds at the most, I find it easier to be able to identify who's who at a glance.
Frostgrave is just insanely gooooood!
Great video Peachy. Awesome to see games like Frostgrave getting some love.
Fallout Wasteland Warfare Settlement Mode using solo rules is pretty good for making stories
Oh yeah I'd love to see frostgrave battle reports!!
Love the video Peachy! Really enjoying you doing deep dives into more niche game systems and models.
Well I have more to come!
The clothes look quite baggy on the 3rd warband, maybe a wind themed elementalist band? Or something focused on light? My idea is since you got good guys and bad guys maybe you can have a warband that they think they're above everyone. Maybe they're trying to claim frostgrave to become the rulers of it and keep the treasures there in safe hands (their own)
Great video Peachy! Always great to see someone like yourself championing smaller games! Definitely think your third warband needs a fire or smithing theme. 🔥🍑
Thanks bud 😍🙏😍 and thank you for the warband suggestion too 🤘
@@PeachyTips also be honest Peachy, is the real reason you prefer oblivion because of Sean Bean voicing Martin Septim? 😂
@@James__Vhahaha! And Picard voicing Uriel Septim
I loved the very long format video Peachy! Great to listen and watch while painting some Frostgrave Soldiers myself. You are such a Hobby Hero peachy and I can not wait for whats coming next. :)
😍😍😍 thanks bud that very kind of you to say
Good stuff! Love your new-found enthusiasm for Frostgrave. Can't wait for the video you'll make after you discover the awesome Burrows and Badgers! :)
A silver bayonet mention? That means we're one step closer to a video on epic Napoleonic french. There are 1000 troops in that box peachy, I need army painter expertise to get it done.
Definitely need more barbarian love in this game 😂🙏
I love Frostgrave and Rangers of Shadowdeep. They are both great and don't cost a fortune to get in to. There rules are fairly simple and there is a ton of variety.
For enemy models (monsters specifically) I can't recommend enough looking through the DnD minis (Nolzurs and even reaper bones) as they're dirt cheap and the monster sculpts are surprsingly well sculpted, and both frostgrave and stargrave have analagous enemies to DnD monsters
That’s a great shout 😍👍
Peachy , check out the game Burrows and badgers it's so cute and awesome as well .... small skirmish game with loony wild animals
Important question…..can I have Hedgehog knights?
@@PeachyTips I know there is hedgehog witches , so there probably maybe knights as well lol
SOLD!!! ❤❤❤
@@PeachyTips angrybadgers with 2handed axes or pirate beavers :) as well
For the wizard and Co you haven't done yet. Elementalist earth in turnip28 style, great crossover video!
excellent video and game! huge fan of Frostgrave. Keep up the great content Peachy!
Love you Peach, you are a hero amongst men. Would love some content about mesbg, have a soft spot for the original gw lotr stuff you were involved with.
😍🙏😍 well I am a big fan of Lotr and MESBG, so it’s certainly something I will be covering, got lots of games an such to look at and talk about, so exciting times ahead for me
I didn't come here for the clickbaity title and the big red arrows. I came here here to bask in the Peachy glow.
🤣🤣🤣
Hero : I will avenge my brother!
Warrior : You have my sword!
Ranger : And my bow!
Peachy the Necromancer : And your brother!
😂😂😂
I love skirmish games like these that as you say inspire you before you even play a game. Your models always inspire me just as much. Busy with Warcry atm, but absolutely gonna have to finally jump into some Frostrgrave soon
Frostgrave is such an incredible game, and the North Star miniatures for it are the best as well. All cheaper and multipart plastic, able to be kitbashed across the entire Frostgrave-Ghost Archipelago-Oathmark-Stargrave line. When I first discovered Frostgrave, I found the battle reports from Dice Chatter to be really helpful for grasping the flow of the game
For another smaller game that is built for solo play and telling a story of adventures (it was designed during the pandemic), Forbidden Psalm. You get a small party of characters, each with their own abilities, feats, and flaws and they go out to do jobs for a mad wizard
I really liked this deep dive and listening to your breakdown!
🤗 fanks
Love the effect on the book, and definitely saving it for future reference! And love the Frostgrave coverage in general.
I'm here for more videos like this. Also really like how you set up the models for display reminds me of reading the white dwarf army articles back in the day
Hey thanks 😍 I really enjoyed getting those images created, I’m chuffed you liked them
Such a great video. Off the back of it, i have purchased the Get Me Started budle from Northstar Miniatures. I am very much looking forward to starting this game and building a board. Thank you, Peachy, for lighting the spark, i would very much love to see more content around this game 🤘
Ooh amazing! I’m super chuffed you enjoyed the vid, and that was a decent bundle too.
And certainly more frostgrave/Stargrave etc to come
Thanks for the great intro to frost grace. It’s made me want to dive into it. Just ordered a load of kits to mess around with it!
Amazing! I won’t lie it’s quite the rabbit hole to fall into 😂😂😂
Peachy, my man. On a whim I ordered the Frostgrave 2E book this week and it came in today, start flipping through it, and load up some YT and behold, The Peach himself has a 50 minute video all about it?
The universe was looking out for me today. Cheers mate! Great video!
Well that’s the galaxy telling us it’s a great time to get into Frostgrave then! Amazing comment 😍🙌😍
Really enjoyed your Warcry dungeon crawls on LIVE during lockdown, so really excited to see what battle reports you can produce.
I've just started getting into Stargrave so would love to see you produce content for that, but right now you've got me thinking about Frostgrave!
Great video as always.
Thank you, I’m going to channel my twitch games for these batreps, and Stargrave is indeed on the cards
Great paint guide again, thanks 🙂
This is a great video. I enjoyed it very much, especially for a long video, and appreciate your discussion of how you found frostgrave and why you like it. As far as solo wargaming goes, snarling badger studios (that’s uncle adam loper and vince ventruella) have space station zero, and majestic 13, as well as a new one about necromancers that’s just about to come out. Keep on keeping on, Peachy!
Oblivion themed Frostgrave battle reports would be cool to see. Go Team Skingrad!
This video has inspired me to introduce this game system to my table top friends. The idea of building a custom crew of lads is amazing!
Fantastic news 👍👍👍
I love Frostgrave. It was the first miniature skirmish game I played and I used D&D and board game miniatures for it before I made some minis especially for Frostgrave. I also demoed it in local conventions and it was very easy to learn by casual players (I had multiple warbands prepared of course).
Unfortunately my friends now play mostly GW games...but I'll try to play some Frostgrave or Stargrave with them.
Damn you Peachy. Now I have yet another skirmish Wargames rule set…. Really loving building out my first Frostgrave warbands
