I think it's because they had already discussed and debated this same topic months ago on the SK (Schmoes Know) Podcast channel. But I understand your disappointment, best part of their show.

I think it's because they had already discussed and debated this same topic months ago on the SK (Schmoes Know) Podcast channel.
But, this episode was kinda short, like, 15 mins short... just the right amount of time for the compilation of the list. That takes even less than 15 usually!
Yeah, i didnt follow them back when they did the longer form on the podcast (planning on catching up soon though!), so the 1hr wasnt a problem for me, and I have even thought that to some degree they could tighten it up to half an hour, but maybe in their initial discussion? This 46 minute example makes me think that it is better to not mess with what works!
This show puts me in such a bloody good mood. Their chemistry and banter is so enjoyable. Collider really did a great job adding this show and especially these two personalities to there team. It's a pleasure to have Rocha on others shows. His point of veiw is always so interesting. Hope to see more Knost around as well.

Yeah tom hardy was great in that movie. The best part imo
Bane didn't make my top ten list, but he was easily the best part dark knight returns
Wait wait wait.....! where was the negotiation?! That's half the reason to watch, the conflict of ideas, the give and take... it's phenomenal. I could listen to any two jokers read off lists, it's the banter between Knost and Rocha that *makes* this show. It feels like you cut out the best part of that banter. I strongly urge you to put that part back in to future episodes.

God I miss this show, was my favourite show on collider. The chemistry between these two are so fantastic.
"I was bred to be a warrior kal. Trained, my entire life to master my senses. Where did you train on a farm!" And THEN for the first time he was able to fly. They're were several scenes in the movie dedicated to showing him struggle to adapt. Smallville when his mask broke. Out side of the Genesis chamber. In Wayne tower. And for most of the fight he is leaping not flying.
What more do you want in a 2 hour movie? Lol we want to see them fight
classic case of person who don't like the character half assed watched the movie and finds a false negative......smh

This has to be the best episode so far. Awesome lists from both Matt and John, although I was disappointed that the final list debate was cut out. Huge shout out to Matt for including Zemo in his last. I really believe he is an underrated villain in the MCU so huge thanks for giving him some recognition.
awesome episode! my favorite thing about your show is when you guys fight which movie goes into which slot. I loved the way you presented the list in the podcast and I got used to the way you did it on the show but I just didn't like jumping to the finale list like that in this episode. Hope you guys consider going back to the way it was before!

Cause it spoils the build up
As much as I love seeing the guys on video and I love Collider programming, I feel like there is a fundamental misunderstanding about why people love this show. People love it because it's funny, because of the strange tangents and banter, because of the debate, because of the ability of the two guys to be slightly cantankerous. I feel like every change not related to video since the move has reduced the facets that make the show stand out and I'm afraid of where it's going in that way. I love this show and I really don't want it to lose its heart and soul.

Damn man, it's been a minute huh? Anyway, I found out that y'all moved to collider and I binge watched the first 5 episodes in like a day. I just wanna congratulate you two on your success and say that I'm happy my life has finally slowed down some so I can get back to watching this every week again.
Out of all of the Schmoes/Collider shows, this has grown to be one of my favorites, right behind the Schmoes live show. Love you guys!

Great episode, gentlemen! One question though, why was the deliberation part removed at the end? I've been a long time listener, so to see it taken out was pretty jarring. If anyone else feels the same way, please post about it. It's an essential part of the Top Ten Show experience and I'd hate to see it go.
BTW, whoever put Matt & John's heads on Ken & Ryu's bodies deserves a raise. As a fighting game fan, it was a nice touch ^_^

The debate is at the end is fantastic for the show. I'm glad they did away with this way in their newer shows. These guys have great chemistry and it really shows when they go head to head in debating for their picks.
This was another fabulous show! I love how you guys inspire us to make lists. We all secretly love making lists, like Beatrix Kiddo on a transcontinental flight.
My list would be:
1. Joker (Hamill, Ledger, Leto, Nicholson)
All four performances are phenomenal - it's hard to not do this character justice because the source material is THAT great.
2. Lex Luthor (Hackman)
I always believed that Superman was in trouble when Hackman was in the room.
3. Harley Quinn (Robbie)
She was so electrifyingly dangerous and unhinged, I cannot tell you how frightening I find her. But at the same time, I'm also in love.
4. Catwoman (Pfeiffer)
Once again, another sensual, yet deadly vicious and cunning enemy. Robbie and Pfieffer are a virtual tie.
5. Magneto (Fassbender, McKellon)
Talk about understanding the motivations of the villain - I think this is the closest they've ever come to getting me on the side of the bad guy.
6. Zod (Stamp, Shannon)
Both versions, for different reasons are terrific and terrifying. Stamp, like Hackman, has an intellect that makes me think Supes is in trouble and Shannon was so vicious. He was basically the British and he saw Earth as the Native Americans... so... ya know... hmm...
7. Amanda Waller (Davis)
At first, you don't realize how deadly she is but as Suicide Squad unfolds, you slowly realize she is far more dangerous than Enchantress. She is the true villain of this movie.
8. Penguin (DeVito)
He was the Epitome of Burton's universe and remains just as strong in the canon as Nicholson and Pfieffer. I'd love to fit Max Shrek on this list. Burton nailed his villains.
9. Syndrome (Lee)
I love love love Jason Lee's voice performance as Syndrome... I mean... Buddy! He also has the best plan of any of the villains in any of these movies. And it's that motivation, where you start out admiring someone, but then slowly build this grudge toward them.
10. Elijah Price/Mr. Glass (Jackson)
The keep your friends close and your enemies closer reverse of this trope. Similar to Buddy in The Incredibles. But more out of a need to have purpose. What is hot without cold, up without down?
Making a top 10 list is hard but #1 is Magneto
First time I've ever seen this and I thought it was great. Excellent chemistry and extremely entertaining.
This was a fun list. Great job guys! But please keep the bartering in from now on. That is such a great part of what makes this show special!

I love the fact that we still have a Top 10 show, but like many I do miss the tangents from the podcast days and the banter from creating the final list. Also, when we're all out of juicy steaks and bacon, I'm thankful to have raw vegetables and tofu that have been cut for time.
This was a fantastic list. just wish we couldve seen you guys argue about which ones to keep on. ALSO i really hope to one day see the confetti just to see matt be a child
Matt killed it with his explanation of Zemo. I'm really glad that the villains of Watchmen, Man of Steel, and Unbreakable made the cut, too. Love the show!
Wish Collider gave you guys more time to discuss these lists, that's what was so great about the original podcast. The tangents and banter was mainly what i tuned in for and now it just sort of seems like you guys are rushing through everything. That being said it's still a great show.

So many people overlooked how great he actually was in Civil War. He meticulously plotted his way through that movie, and by the end, he won! Now that's a villain I want to see more of (and am glad Marvel left that door open).
his plan made absolutely no sense though
Grayson Myers so in he 2rd act he somehow predicted that Iron man would figure everything out, that he'd talk to falcon, that falcon would trust him and tell him where bucky and cap went, and that ironman would come alone? There is no way he could have predicted all that
It made perfect sense to me: he wanted to psychologically break the Avengers' trust. The only flaw I could see is that it banked on Tony, Cap, and Bucky being in the same room together by the end for it all to work.

CrocoVinny I was replying to your first comment, but yes, his plan made sense to me too. Surface level, it's pretty straightforward:
1) Finds out from Widow's leaked HYDRA files that something having to do with the Winter Soldier happened in '91.
2) Planned for Winter Soldier to be framed, which led to the investigation/manhunt/bringing him to the immediate public forefront.
3) Once he was caught, got the info he needed with the brainwash lingo, and finally had the puzzle piece to use to his advantage.
4) "Helped" Bucky escape, who brings the whole Russian WS program thing to Steve's attention.
5) Planted the whole evidence in the hotel to give away the fact that Bucky was set up, relaying the idea that "hey, maybe Steve is onto something here. Let's help him check this Russian thing out"
6) Drops the video bomb that splits the Avengers (namely Tony & Cap) when they show up to stop him.
Yes, the ultimate plan does hinge on chance a little too much in spots - I said that before, but it's pretty clear what he wanted to do. He wasn't counting on the feud with the accords (aside from the meeting in Vienna) or the airport fight, he just got lucky that those helped further his plot to break the team.
TL;DR: suspension of disbelief, man. It's just a movie lol

Did miss the haggling over what gets higher or lower on the final list though- hope we get that back, seems a lot of us missed it.Nice to see Zemo made Knost's list as I thought he was a great, highly methodical villain from Civil War. I would have put Robert Redford's Alexander Pierce from Winter Soldier on my list- purely down to Redford's performance. Although I didn't like the costume, Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin/Norman Osbourne wouldn't be out of place on a list.Hardly anyone is likely to argue over the No.1 choice though.

26:44 YES! I absolutely loved Zemo from Civil War! Never thought they would have mentioned him! Though his plan contains a lot of coincidences, his character motivation is so powerful enough, and he doesn't rely on strength, just old-fashion "Skills and Patience" .

Great show as always guys. Really happy you had Red Skull on there. I think he's one of the better Marvel Cinematic Universe Villains especially considering most of them are pretty one dimensional. I thought there was a lot to him and I don't think he gets enough attention.

Hi Matt, completely agree with you about Zemo, he was severely underrated and short changed. He was a real guy who had experienced a terrible loss. He wasn't a cardboard cut out megalomaniac hellbent on world domination.

So happy Hamill got a mention for his Joker. He is number 1 for me, though Ledger and Nicholson are both amazing. I know it's "only" voice work, but that has its own challenges, and what a voice that man created.

honestly, i think tdkr bane is an underrated villain. he had the biggest presence out of every character in every scene he was in. he just felt so powerful and dominant in contrast to every character

You guys were right. Saw unbreakable for the first time. It was a really good movie. Especially the ending. Makes sense that it was going to be a series of movies.
Thanks guys, good job. Matt - ALI = Malcolm X, lol. That was hilarious..way to stay focused lol. My #1 is Magneto. The opening scene of the first XMEN was the best opening of a movie ever. Not hyperbole...The audience was conflicted with the outcome of the villain because everyone can related to why Magnus became Magneto. I rooted for him even though Hollywood is too chicken shit to let the villain have his vengeance!! What if we had a studio allow the Villain to just be a Villain and succeed.
Hell yeah. I'm glad Catwoman (both portrayals even though Selina Kyle only got a shout out) got some love on this list. Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman was a great villain/anti hero. Anne Hathaway's character was more like anti hero who turned into a hero at the end but she was incredible.

John they are making the Vulture the villain in the new movie so I wouldnt be surprised if Kraven the Hunter would show up in a movie.
General Zod from Man of Steel was one hell of a villain. Underrated but one of the greatest comic book movie villains.
